ments. • Reduces slippage, which is especially useful when

operating a loader. • Front wheels pulling tend to help keep tractor on top of

the ground, aiding in flotation. • Increases tractor resale value.

4WD Features

4WD can be engaged on the go.

This is possible because of a collar shift engagement ratherthan conventional sliding gear engagement.

• Drive shaft is fully enclosed. —Prevents material wrapping. —Protects the drive shaft.

• Bevel gear design for added strength and reliability.

• One check/fill point for the 4WD axle makes servicingeasier.

and front-mounted equipment such as a mid-mowersfront snow blower.

• A brake that keeps implements from coasting to a stis located inside the PTO drop box (wet disk typbrake). —When tractor is equipped with mid PTO, the mi

PTO brake will brake both mid and rear PTO implements.

• Brake is activated whenever clutch or PTO lever is dengaged.

Mid and rear PTO’s can be operated separately (790 only1) To operate rear-mounted PTO driven implemen

engage lever (A). 2) To operate mid-mounted PTO driven implement su

as mid mower or snow blower, engage lever (B). 3) To operate mid-PTO driven and rear-PTO drive

TRANSMISSION-DRIVEN PTO - 790 WITH MANUAL STEERING

Manual steering and transmission-driven PTO are availableon 790 2WD Tractors.

• Over-running clutch prevents implements from “push-ing” the tractor when a sudden stop is required.

• PTO neutral start switch prevents starting the tractorwith the PTO engaged.

CONTINUOUS LIVE PTO - 790 WITH POWER STEERING AND 990 WITH POWER STEERING

Power steering and continuous live PTO are standard equip-ment on all 790 4WD, 990 2WD and 4WD Tractors.

• By depressing the clutch pedal approximately half-waydown, the two-stage clutch allows the transmissiongears to be shifted without stopping the PTO.

• Full depression of the clutch stops both tractor motionand the rear PTO. (Two-stage clutch uncouples thetransmission from the PTO, eliminating the need for anover-running clutch.)

• Neutral start switch prevents starting tractor with thePTO engaged.

HYDRAULIC SYSTEM

All 790 and 990 Tractors feature an open center hydrausystem.

Dual hydraulic gear pumps on models with power steeriare driven off the engine crankshaft and provide high-capity output for various hydraulic applications.

• Assures good capacity for steering—even at low engspeeds.

DUAL SELECTIVE CONTROL VALVE (Optional)

Dual selective control valve is available to allow operatinloader or other implements not having their own valve.

Single control lever makes operation fast and simple. • Selective control valve has a safety lockout (C).

—Allows loader hydraulics to be locked out so boowill not drop if SCV lever is accidentally bumped.

—Allows loader bucket hydraulic hoses to bunhooked so that outlets can be used for rear impment hydraulics.
