  • We learn • We grow • We succeed together

Ø Our Boys’ and Girls’ Empowerment Club runs for five weeks under the care of Ms. Anderson and our Child & Your Care Worker, Mrs. Johal. This is an afterschool program where boys and girls learn to improve their self-esteem and their socialization skills. Boys attend on Tuesday and girls on Thursday. This program will continue during the second term, as well.

Ø Our, very successful, Chess Club is starting on Tuesday, under the care and supervision of Mrs. Ratzlaff. It is open to students in Grades 4 to 7. We wish to thank her and her support team of : Mrs. Myers, Ms. McFarlane, Ms. Schneider & Dosanjh.

Ø Mrs. Johal also runs a Boys and Girls Club during lunch hour where she works very hard to help students improve their cooperation and socialization skills. We are very appreciative of her time and effort.

Ø Our Student Leadership Program has begun with a focus on having local, international and school related activities. 45 students from Grades 5 to 7 were selected and placed into 3 areas of Technology, Athletics, Events and Managers. This group of students is responsible for organizing our food drive for the Food Bank, organizing lunch hour activities, spirit days, record and present events at assemblies, help set up for assemblies, keep our school and front road clean and is now considering sponsoring activities in a village in Rajsthan, India. Our sincere thank you to Mrs. Lapointe for overseeing this group and the following teachers for their time and energy: Mr. Cameron & Ms. Dosanjh.

Ø Each Monday, 30 students from Grade 4 will get to take part in the Jump Start Academy where the focus will be learning new activities and enhancing cooperating skills.

Ø Upper intermediate students are taking part in improving their volleyball skills. We wish to thank Ms. Pawar for devoting her time to coach. These students will play other schools and compete in a Playday. The District has gone to a new format of having 4 players on the court to enhance skill development.

Ø Our next PAC meeting is scheduled for November 20, Thursday at 6:30. We are hoping that many parents will make a point of attending these meetings as they not only learn about the various happenings in the school but can provide valuable input to help us improve our efforts in helping students improve.

Ø Please, keep your child to a strict schedule of reading for at least for 20 minutes and 20 nights during a month. Various prizes are given throughout the year and at the end of the year to the participants.

Upcoming Dates to Note Pro D Day (School Closed) Friday, Oct. 24 Interims Issued Wednesday, Oct. 29 School wide Luncheon Wednesday, Oct. 29 Halloween Spooktecular Friday, Oct. 31 Remembrance Day Assembly Friday, Nov. 7 Pro D Day (School Closed) Monday, Nov. 10 Remembrance Day (School Closed) Tuesday, Nov. 11 Spelling Bee Contest Thursday, Nov. 20 PAC Meeting (6:30 PM) Thursday, Nov. 20
