Yoga in India is considered to be around 5,000 year old mental, physical and spiritual

practice. Yoga was originated in India in ancient time when people were used of meditation to

transform their body and mind.

S. B. Patil Institute of Management celebrated the world fourth time on 21st of June in

2018, Thursday with great enthusiasm. All the participants assembled in the seminar hall at 9.30

am so as to ensure that the practice session is conducted in the most conducive manner. Dr.

Daniel Penkar, Director started the session by saying that Yoga is very necessary and beneficial

for all human being if it is practiced by all on daily basis in the early morning. The Surya

Namaskar was performed by all the staff members which included teaching, non teaching and

support staff. Meditation was also followed thereafter. The session was included by healthy

breakfast. Every one enjoyed the session and understood the importance of Yoga.

Report on Woman’s Day Celebration



“The best way to change the society and the underlying issues is to channelize the power of

woman in every walk of life.”

International Women’s Day is celebrated worldwide on the March 8. The day celebrates

womanhood and recognizes their achievements. It emphasizes the importance of gender equality.

People from all across the world come together to on this day to partake in the celebration of

womanhood. The day is being increasingly associated with feminism and equal rights for

women.

While women have been speaking about their rights and the need for gender equality for ages

now men too have had opined on women. Sometimes they have been unkind while on other

times they have been very understanding.

At S. B. Patil Institute of Management, in the Academic year 2017 – 18, we thought of taking

the celebration of Women’s Day to the next level by felicitating and appreciating the three

women from the society. We invited three gracious, beautiful and powerful ladies from the

different fields of the society. We were grateful to have Ms Amruta Desai an industrialist, Ms

Sushma Chavan Assistant Commissioner of Police and Dr Sonal Bondre gynecologist on the eve

of International Women’s Day.

The day started with a welcome quote by Prof Aishwarya Gopalkrishnan. All the guest, teaching

and non teaching staff and the students were welcomed by the welcome address of Dr Daniel

Penkar, Director SBPIM. The guest were felicitated and appreciated by Dr Penkar.

Dr Swapnali Kulkarni introduced Ms Amruta Desai, who shared her journey as an industrialist

from the shop floor the Director’s cabin. She assured all the girl students that if they work hard

sky is the limit to them.

Prof Aishwarya introduced ACP Sushma Chavan, who told us about her problems faced in the

police force. She also recollected her incidences as the only lady working with the police then.

She said because of her determination and strong will she was successful in her career.

Prof Anuradha Phadnis introduced Dr Sonal Bondre. Dr Sonal shared about the hazards of eating

habits of the new generation and the consequences faced by them. She appealed all the girl

students to eat and drink healthy and to exercise daily.

The event was completed by the vote of thanks proposed by Prof Anuradha Phadnis.

The program illuminated the thought of Anti corruption in the minds of all present.

On the occasion of Vigilance week celebrated by CVC of India (Central Vigilance

Commission), AIR INDIA and SBPIM jointly conducted the competition on 28th

October

2017. The prize distribution of the same was conducted on 10th

November 2017. The prize

distribution was done by the hands of three eminent personalities who came from CVC and Air

India, Mumbai. The event started with a welcome speech by Dr Daniel Penkar, Director, SBPIM.

The guests Mr Kishore Prabhu, Regional Vigilance Head, Mr Suhas Jadhav, Station Manager,

Air India, Pune and Mr Anil Mokal, Manager Vigilance Department Mumbai were felicitated

and welcomed to the Institute.

Mr Kishore Prabhu started his speech by defining corruption in engineering language. He

also said that if one bolt of the bridge is rusted then the chances of bridge falling arise. He

assured that the responsibility to eradicate the corruption lies primarily with the youth. He also

focused on satisfying and eradicating the greed aspect in an individual.

Mr Suhas Jadhav Station Manager, Air India Pune guided the students and said that

instead of blaming the government we should try to minimize it on our level. He also said that

every individual can control the people in the sphere of job we work in and this will influence

many people around us.

The event progressed with the prize distribution. The prizes were distributed by the hands

The leadership quality of a great personality can be understood from the above quote. Also to

understand the teachings of the great personality a session was conducted at SBPIM on

Leadership of Mahatma Gandhi by Dr. Daniel Penkar, Director on 3rd

October 2018.

The session started with some wonderful quotes of Mahatma Gandhi. The session then gained

momentum when Dr. Penkar talked about the leadership learning from the great leader. He also

emphasized that due to his leadership qualities we could achieve the freedom. This man would

be remembered for the decades to come.

Students understood the leadership qualities needed to be a great leader in future. They

appreciated the session conducted by Dr Penkar.

He started his speech with different safety measures that are being developed by

the police department for the SENIOR CITIZEN. He gave information about

safety cell and various apps that are available to cater senior citizens safety and

security. Sir also shared information on how the police department is trying their

threw light on how they are promoting the app called POLICE KAKA in different

schools and slum areas.

He gave detailed information about the safety for GIRLS. He emphasized on how

the girls should be additional cautious while using social media, especially before

sharing any personal information and photos to someone unknown.

He explained the process of using the app called BUDDY COP which can be used

to safeguard any girl who faces issues such as ragging, eve teasing, or any kind of

sexual harassment.

In his concluding part, he referred about various apps like PRATISAAD, CITY

SAFE which can be used by EVERYONE as a small step towards self-security.

Eventually he ended his workshop by sharing some live examples where the police

played an integral role in saving some of the people who would otherwise become

victim.

TEACHER’S DAY CELEBRATION 2018

“Teaching is a very noble profession that shapes the character, caliber and future of an

individual. If the people remember me as a good teacher, that will be the biggest honour

In India 5th September is celebrated as Teachers Day as a mark of tribute to the contribution

made by teachers to the society. 5th September is the birthday of a great teacher Dr. Sarvapalli

Radhakrishnan, who was a staunch believer of education, and was a well known diplomat,

scholar, President of India and above all a Teacher.

When Dr. Radhakrishnan became the President of India in 1962, he was approached by some of

his students and friends and requested him to allow them to celebrate 5th September, his

"Birthday". In reply, Dr.Radhakrishnan said, "Instead of celebrating my birthday separately, it

would be my proud privilege if September 5 is observed as Teachers'''' Day". The request

showed Dr.Radhakrishnan's love for the teaching profession. From then onwards, the day has

been observed as Teachers'''' Day in India.

The students of SBPIM decided to celebrate the Teacher’s day on 3rd

September 2017 in the

campus. Students decorated the college campus with the decorative items like ribbons, hanging,

balloons.

A function for teachers was organized by the students. When the faculties entered the Seminar

Hall, they were welcomed with a Tilak on their forehead and a flower to each of them.

The function started with a video dedicated to the teachers, followed by introductory speech

which was then followed by Games for teachers. The event was concluded by the reviews of the

teachers and finally it was followed by the cake cutting by the teachers. It is considered as

"celebration" day, where teachers and students report to college campus but the usual activities

and classes are replaced by activities of celebration, thanks and remembrance.

Students decorated the college campus with the decorative items like ribbons, hanging, balloons

and many more on the eve of Teacher’s day and the faculties were warmly welcomed.

International Yoga Day, which is officially known as "International Day of Yoga" and

sometimes also just called "Yoga Day," was established since yoga is seen as being a

pretty worthwhile practice. Back in 2014, Honorable Indian Prime Minister,

Mr. Narendra Modi, gave a speech that helped symbolize why such a day was so

important. "Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition," he said. "It

embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment;

harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is

not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and

the nature."

We at SBPIM grabbed our mats and celebrated International Yoga Day on June 21st

2017. The day was very refreshing as it started with some sessions of Yoga. Yoga was

exercising our mind and spirit along with our body, and it's extremely rewarding for

the seeking moments of mental clarity.

March is an important month for all women – the eighth day of this month is celebrated as

International Women’s Day. Every year, the social, economic, cultural and political

achievements of women are celebrated worldwide on this day. Celebrated since the early 1900s,

International Women’s Day also heralds gender Equality. However, it is not the result of the

efforts put by one individual that made this wonderful day a reality. It is collective effort of

people men and women alike worldwide that we can observe this beautiful day.

On the eve of International Women’s Day in the Academic Year 2016 – 17 we felicitated Prof

Aishwarya Gopalkrishnan for her services towards the Institute.

Dr Daniel Penkar, Director SBPIM felicitated Prof Aishwarya Gopalkrishnan on the occasion of

International Women’s Day. All the teaching and non teaching staff congratulated her.

S. B. Patil Institute of Management provides distinct inputs in making each student

a socially responsible and dynamic professional. Adhering to institutes objectives,

we conduct series of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities in overall

student development as integral part of curriculum.

We visited society’s, quarters and independent bungalows to spread our motto of

the campaign. We spoke to all age groups (especially above 18 years) and

discussed their views on voting as a right and their participation in the process, and

encouraged them to go and vote and to choose appropriate government for all of

us.

Even children were made aware about this and they always helped in carrying

plague cards and sign boards with our students and contributed their piece in the

campaign.

Even residence of Pradhikaran responded positively and cooperated us and was

convinced to go for voting for following elections.

Safety by organizing a Traffic Safety Program at Wakad, Pune at different

signals, on 20th January 2017, in association with YIN Foundation.

Safety Rules and guidelines.

It is very rightly said that “An essay is a thing of imagination and imagination makes up

three quarters of our real life.” With this view in mind S B Patil Institute of Management

conducted an Essay Competition for the MBA I and II year students.

we can minimize the corruption by e-governance.

On the occasion of Rakshabandhan, SBPIM took initiative in bringing smiles on

the face of orphans, students volunteer and staff visited the Chaphekar Orphanage

Home and met the kids and celebrated the festival of Rakshabandhan with them.

Volunteers carried Rakhis and Gifts at orphanage. They gave rakhis to girls and

gifts to boys, so they can feel the joy of festival and relations.

The kids were overwhelmed with the celebration. Student volunteers interacted

with them and made them understand why Rakshabadhan is celebrated.

Report on Yoga Day


21st June 2016

While addressing the 69th session of United Nations General Assembly on September

27, 2014, the Honorable Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi urged the world

community to adopt an International Day of Yoga. On December 11, 2014, the 193

member United Nations General Assembly approved the proposal by consensus with

a record 177 co-sponsoring countries a resolution to establish 21st June as

"International Day of Yoga.

Our Institute also celebrated the International Day of Yoga 2016 at our institute, S. B.

Patil Institute of Management on 21st June 2016. All faculty members including our

Director, Dr Daniel Penkar, Head Academics, Dr Kirti Dharwadkar actively

participated in this historical moment. The program started with a brief discussion on

Yoga. All the participants practiced some asanas of Yoga. The program ended with

everyone committed to do yoga every day.

Centre organized blood donation camps to help hospitals and blood banks tackle

the blood shortage issue. The inauguration of the camp was done by our honorable

trustee Shri Bhaijan Kazi.

We received very good response from students and faculty members, who

This beautiful and insightful piece of wisdom can help us understand the importance of yoga in

life.

The faculty members of SBPIM, Pune celebrated The International Yoga Day wiith great zeal

and enthusiasm. A special session was organized to commemorate the occasion.

The programme comprised of a yogic prayer in Sanskrit, followed by a speech about the origin

of Yoga, its significance and the origin of the celebration of this day. Subsequently, the various

benefits of yoga were enumerated, along with demonstrations of the various asanas which are

beneficial to overcome stress, anxiety, improve concentration and combat obesity.

INSTITUTE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

S. B. Patil Institute of Management students along with PCCOE students had

planned for a social awareness activity in and around the society, for major health

issue arising out of Swin Flu and how to take precautions to keep Swine Flu at

bay.

All the 1st year MBA students had participated in this. We planned of distributing

the write ups in selected areas as well as a rally in the crowded areas. Around 15

groups, 2 members each were sent to distribute the write ups regarding importance

and Precautions against Swine Flu. They went to the following areas in

Pradhikaran, Sectors 24, 26, 27, 27A, Bijli Nagar, Dalvi Nagar and Akurdi. We

targeted specifically the residential areas only. All the people appreciated the

efforts of students which can be seen from the following responses,

team started from sambhaji Chowk to Mhalsakant Chowk and

walked back to college. We carried 10 posters along with us. During the rally all

the enthusiastic students were walking along with slogans like, Svachata Pala,

Swine Flu Tala” and many more.

A session was conducted for MBA Ist year students on the topic of “Business Ethics” by Dr. Daniel Penkar, Director, SBPIM. The session covered all the aspects regarding Business Ethics

like meaning of Ethics, Business Ethics, Relationship between Ethics and Law, theories of

ethical conduct, role of ethics in business. He also discussed about some case studies and its

solutions.

Understanding the semsitivity of the social norms and moral values, students of

SBPIM took initiative in creating awareness in very sensitive issue, of Save Girl

Child and organised a street play where in all portrayed by enacting variuos

characters.

This street play was organised at 2 different locations one at Pradhikaran near

Delhi Swad and second one was at Bhakti Shakti, where we received good

response from spectators and people around really appreciated students’

An Environment Preservation and Plantation Drive At Kurkundi, Khed was

arranged of MBA students. In a special drive the students of SBPIM visited village

Kurkundi to understand the living of villagers, their problems and scope for the

development of the village using management principles. The Sarpanch of the

town Mr. Kailas Sutar welcomed participants and explained them the status of the

progress of the town. All the participating students walked around the town and

understood the demographic structure. They asked various questions to villagers

and tried to understand how their living standard can be developed through

bringing in some businesses. They visited the hill where mass plantation was done,

our students assisted in this mass plantation and guided local school students in this

activity.

SBPIM and Deeksha Exports Pvt. ltd., jointly organized visit to Dr. Avinash Pol, a

well-known personality engaged in rural development with developing above 125

villages as model villages. He guided the villagers on various aspects of

developments in sanitation, trees plantation, infrastructural development, various

subsidies from government for farmers and village development as such.

saplings were planted on that day.
