DESCRIPTION

Starting a small business is “a project” not “a process.” Schedule your phase implementation beginning and ending dates and stick to them as closely as humanly possible. Many new entrepreneurs get side-tracked or "shiny object syndrome." Follow the steps and your start up will go smoothly.

7 PHASES TO STARTING A SMALL BUSINESSYou can actually do this while on active duty!

Page 2: 7 Phases to Starting A Small Business

Even though, you are on active duty, you can

start up a small business very successfully.

You can also grow a small business very successfully.

You just need to ensure that you complete the steps in the correct order and recognize

that starting a small business is “a project” not “a process.”

In other words, schedule phase implementation beginning and ending dates

and stick to them as closely as humanly possible.

Phase 1:  Legal Set-Up:  This should take approximately two weeks.

Phase 2:  Corporate Set-Up:  This phase should take approximately 45-60 days.

Phase 3:  Strategic Set-Up:  This phase should take about 60 days.

Phase 4:  Marketing Planning Start Up:  This phase should take about 7 days.

Phase 5:  Capitalization of the Business Start-up:  This should take from 45 days to 6 months depending on the methods you choose to use.  Click Here to Read 26 Ways to Find Capital for Your Start Up

Phase 6:  Capital Raising Marketing Plan and Implementation:  This phase should take about 30 days.

Phase 7:  Operations Planning and Execution:  This phase should take about 4 to 6 months.

These phases are not a step by step plan.  They are not mutually exclusive.  You can do a few things in each category, each week.  The idea, however, is to complete the steps in the correct sequence and to track your progress regularly.

Life happens, especially when on active duty.  Keep track of where you are in the process.  Authorize a “second” who can make decisions for you in your absence, and as you develop your operations, keep in mind what must be done by only you and get in the habit of delegating everything else. Click here to read more about business planning while on active duty.
