QUESTION OF THE WEEK Question for Children: What would you do for oth-ers today if you thought you would not have another chance to do it?

Question for Adults: What would you be doing dif-ferently in your life if you truly believed you would meet Christ soon?

November 18 ~ Thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time We are nearing the end of the Liturgical Year when the readings call us to think about the ‘end times’. Even though we don’t know when death will come, it is not a time to be comfortable and complacent be-cause "of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." Therefore, the time to be intentional about following Jesus is NOW, don’t wait.

Family Mass 10/28/18

Thursday is Thanksgiving Day, the beginning of the holiday sea-son. This particularly American holiday is traditionally a time for food, family and friends. AAA tells us this will be a busy holiday for travel this year with lots of folks on the road visiting. Upon arrival there will be the sharing of food and conversation, the sharing of old memories, the retelling of stories and making new ones. These holidays can also be difficult for many reasons. For my family this is the first holiday without my mother. There will be some sadness as we remember and share stories. But in the mem-ories there is also comfort and strength as we share the joy of so many holidays that we did have with her. In the spirit of the holi-day we can give thanks to God for those memories and the life we shared with her. Giving thanks to God for all of our blessings is the most im-portant memory and story that we should be sharing as we gather with family and friends on Thursday. Even if this holiday may bring some sadness there is always so much for which we should be thankful. God who is always faithful is especially close to us in those difficult moments. It is faith that helps us to move on and persevere to make new stories, new memories. That is the real reason to celebrate this wonderful holiday. On Thursday morning at 9:00 we will celebrate Eucharist on this special holiday to give thanks to God. As I offer Mass, my inten-tion will be for all of your needs, that your travels may be safe and your sharing food with family and friends will be a blessing and a joy. All of us on staff wish you a happy and blessed Thanksgiving.

Fr. Petringa

The Parish Office will be closed on Wednesday, November 21st and will re-open at 9:30am on Monday, November 26th.

It’s that time of year again when we are grateful for all that we have and looking to help others in need. Our Annual Giving Tree Project begins on Saturday, November 24 and runs until Sunday, December 16. The Giving Tree helps a variety of local schools and agencies serving children and their families, adults with developmental needs and homeless men and women. To participate, please choose a name from the list that will be posted on the wall in the gathering space at the en-

trance to the Church and write your name in the “fulfilled by” column. Then, write down the information on one of the gift-tag slips available on the table. We request gifts and/or gift cards to be wrapped, except those going to Catholic Charities. When you return your gift, place it under the tree with the gift tag slip attached. All gifts need to be brought in by December 16. Looking to volunteer? We are looking for people to help sort gifts on Sunday, December 9 th after the 9:30 Mass and Sunday, December 16th after the 5 p.m. Mass and people to deliver to local schools on Monday, December 17 th. Sign-ups will be in the back of the church next weekend. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Bible Study Opportunity for Advent! All are welcome!

Throughout this upcoming year, we will be offer-ing several different opportunities for parishioners to reflect more deeply on the question: “Who is Jesus?” It is only in answering this question that we can discern how we are called to be his active

and faithful disciples. During this Advent season we will offer a Bible study series that will meet once a week for the four weeks of Advent to reflect more deeply on who Jesus Christ is. What does that mean to each of us that God sent Jesus into our world? How does that impact our lives on a daily basis? Event information is as follows: What: Bible Study and Discussion Group When: Wednesday evenings (Nov. 28, Dec. 5, 12, 19), 7:30-8:30pm OR Thursday mornings (Nov. 29; Dec. 6, 13, 20) 9:45am-10:45am Book: Names for the Messiah: An Advent Study by: Walter Brueggemann. Cost: Soft cover book: $11 (30 copies will be available at St. Timothy’s) OR E-reader book: $3.19 (we will provide link to purchase e-book) Please sign up in the gathering space if you are interested in attend-ing one of the study groups or contact Colleen in the office (781-769-2522; [email protected]).

November Observances

Throughout the month of No-vember, we continue to remem-ber and pray for our family members, friends and loved ones who have died. You are invited to inscribe in our Book of the Dead the names of loved ones who have died, so that our entire parish community may pray for them. Beginning November 1, the Book of the Dead will be located in the front of the Church, adjacent to the Paschal Candle.

May the souls of the faithful departed,

through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Amen.

Save the Date: Advent Wreath-Making at St. Timothy’s Sunday, December 2 after the 9:30 Mass

Advent is not that far around the corner! It be-gins on Sunday, December 2. During the season of Advent, one way that we mark the passage of the weeks is by the use of an Advent Wreath in our homes. Do you have an Advent Wreath in your home? If not, please join us on Sunday,

December 2 after the 9:30 Mass, when we will be offering an Advent Wreath-making opportunity for any family or indi-vidual who would like to make a wreath for use in their own home. We will supply all the materials, including wreath forms, greens, candles, ribbon and decorations. Prayer sheets that can be used in conjunction with your family advent wreath will also be available. To offset the costs of material, we do ask for a donation of $10.00. Mark the date on your calendar! We have materials for 60 families to make wreaths, and the materials will be available on a first-come first-served basis after the 9:30 Mass on December 2. We hope that many of you will join us!
