HAPPY FATHERS DAY
A father is a man who loves without cost to his children and tries to raise them to be fully human creatures with the abilities to make a differ-ence in our world. Some fathers are successful, some are not. However, almost all try their best. This Fa-ther’s Day, let your dad know that
you appreciate all his efforts.
Strength—Your strength in helping me to tell right from wrong as a great gift. Honor— You taught me that to honor myself was a way to honor God who made me. Faith—Thanks Dad for having faith in me, when I was not sure I had faith in myself. Love—You loved me even when I did not live myself. For that I am grateful.
A Father’s Prayer Heavenly Father, I thank You for the gift of my family, for whom I now pray and upon whom I now ask You to shower Your blessings. May I always be ready to spend my life for them. Bless my children with Your life and presence. May the example of Your Son be the foundation upon which their lives are built, that the Gospel ,may always be their hope and support. I ask You, Father, to protect and bless my family. Watch over it, so that in the strength of Your love its members may enjoy prosperity, posses the gift of Your peace and, always bear witness to Your glory in the world. ~Amen

PRAY: God, we trust You because You know us so well. Amen.
THINK: Each family member can reflect, and then write or draw on slips of paper, ways in which they need God’s help. Collect these slips to share with each other during family prayer time.
ACT: Parents can help the entire family’s growth in trust and confidence in God by witnessing ways in which daily family needs are entrusted to God’s care. Invite one member of the family to read aloud today’s Gospel, Matthew 10:26-33. Recall together how well God knows your family and thank God for this wonderful grace. Conclude by praying together for each of the needs identified on the slips of paper. After each need is read, pray together, “God, we trust You because You know us so well”. Conclude by praying together the “Glory Be to the Father”.
The readings of the week are listed below to help you prepare when watching a televised or live streamed Mass. The web-sites: https://us.magnificat.net/free orhttp://www.usccb.org/ have the readings available if you do not have a Bible.

Liturgy Notes In today’s Scripture Readings, in particular, the Old Testament reading and the Holy Gospel, we hear a gen-eral theme of turmoil, upheaval and uncertainty. But, it’s clear in both instances, that God is in charge. It’s clear also that he is our “refuse, strength, fortress and stronghold.” What an uplifting thought, and better yet, what an encouraging promise.
Our Hymns and Songs today reflect that same zone of comfort and reassurance. The majestic hymn “A Mighty Fortress is Our God” contains a text assuring us that in the end. God’s victory will overcome the evil and temp-tation we face in this world. “Shelter Me, O God” rein-forces the message that God is our hope in times of dis-tress and trouble.
The current pandemic as well as several other unsettling issues/situations going on globally, as well as the nature of our Scripture Readings, there could not be a more perfect song than “Stand by Me”. This also seems to be a much loved hymn to this congregation, judging on how intently everyone sings it.
As a Nation celebrates Father’s Day this weekend, we conclude the Eucharist with the traditional hymn “Faith of Our Father’s”. ~Ray Murphy, Music Director

A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE by Bud Ozar
Today’s gospel teaches personal sacrifice is the
key to successful parenting. If we try to “save your life you will lose it.” The more we give of
our self, the more rewarding is our relationship with our children. That’s the secret: the more
you give, the more you get.

All-powerful and ever-living God, when Abraham left his native land
and departed from his people you kept him safe through all his journeys.
Protect these soldiers. Be their constant companion and their strength in battle,
their refuge in every adversity. Guide them, O Lord, that they may
return home in safety. We ask this through Christ our Lord. ~ Amen

in the lives of their children, and the responsibility they share in welcoming God’s gift of new life !”
