Appendix 6151-T1Vessel Design Documentation

This appendix provides guidance for pressure vessel design documentation. Codestamped vessels will have vessel design documentation provided by themanufacturer.

Vessel design documentation is required for all pressure vessels built on site and forall Code stamped pressure vessels that are modified without the NationalBoard repair stamp. It should consist of two parts: the first, a narrative thatdescribes the vessel, any special hazards and how they are mitigated. Thesecond part should list the design data (which may be substituted by standardengineering data which meets the intent of the Code’s manufacturer’s datareport).

Vessel Design Documentation is written by the lead engineer, and is technicallyvalidated by a peer mechanical engineer before being approved by linemanagement.

A copy of the documentation must be kept on file for each Division. A copy mustalso be kept on file with the Maintenance Services Manager in FacilitiesManagement.

The pressure vessel test record may be used as the design documentation, providedthat it contains the required information set forth in this appendix, in additionto the requirements of  Appendix 6151-T3 Pressure Vessel Testing Procedure.
