Here’s some greyI respect every thing the school has done for my children over the years; it’s a place we all love but I’ve noticed a troubling change. With 3 children all of whom have been exposed to the naplan test (2 children now twice) I have seen their behaviour worryingly change in the lead up to the tests. They are clearly stressed and all have complained that their teachers are saying that they must do a good job in the test or the school “will get into trouble”. I’ve had a look at the my school website and have noticed that the school’s results in all but one area are considerably below the average.

If this is what naplan does for schools underperforming then I’ll be left with no alternative but to remove my children and send them to a better performing school. Stressing children like this is just not on.

While this is only a rumour I have heard several parents (with academically struggling children) say that their teacher had in a round about way suggested that their children could stay home on naplan day.

What’s going on? Please tell me I’ve got it wrong.
