“…Few modern buildings can have been more photographed than the Opera House on Bennelong Point in Sydney Harbour. But Katarina Stübe’s obsession with its towering, saillike shells has sought out perspectives, angles, points of view that run against every clichéd image and restore to the building the wondrous strangeness of Jørn Utzon’s 1957 prizewinning conception…” Excerpt from “A dream made concrete” by Patrick Carnegy The Spectator UK, January 9, 2010 JØRN UTZON’S SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE A tribute to Jørn Utzon by Katarina Stübe & Jan Utzon “When I first discussed the project with Katarina I was spellbound by her incredible enthusiasm to reinvigorate the Sydney Opera House story. As a Scandinavian company, it was a natural choice for us to be involved in the Australian market due to the unconditional quality the venture projected.” “Via this local involvement, Katarina was key in introducing us to other likeminded companies, developing an increased network and greater longterm business opportunities. It was from this tangible realisation that our company extended our involvement to a global scale.” Lars Oloffson, CEO Scandinavian Airlines Australia

PANDORA is proud to sponsor Katarina Stuebe with her beautiful Tribute to Jørn Utzon and Sydney’s Opera House.

The Opera House is not only an incredible Australian icon but Jørn Utzon has created a masterpiece of Danish Design. In Katarina Stuebe’s stunning photographic journal, she has captured the magic and the music in this amazing sculpture of a building.

When Katarina first approached PANDORA to sponsor the launch of her stunning book we could see the link immediately. It is hard for a Danish company to bypass an opportunity to support a product with links to the homeland, but equally as Katarina says “I have the firm belief that any piece of art is determined by the true love and devotion that it was created with” and her book truly supports this theory.

The elegant curves and soft lines of the Opera House shown in Katarina’s photography are mirrored in our own collection of jewellery, LovePods. Our Danish designers, Mads Trolle and Lee Anthony Gray are the creative forces behind PANDORA’s LovePods range.

The design influence for LovePods can be found in nature, in everything organic and pure. The story of LovePods represents a flower just before it blooms in all its glory, and the shape of the flower recurs throughout the LovePods Collection. Each pod contains a symbol of love in the form of a precious gemstone.

The creators Mads Trolle and Lee Anthony Gray agree:“The LovePods range signifies the simple and pure beauty which is found in nature. LovePods is natural and genuine, and the collection represents classical, feminine and harmonious expression.”

Katarina Stuebe’s book is yet another reminder that

To Whom It May Concern _______ 23rd June 2009 The Danish Consulate in Sydney introduced us to Katarina Stuebe’s project in March 2009. Katarina was looking for sponsors for the launch of her beautiful book of photographic images ‘A Tribute to Joern Utzon – The Sydney Opera House’. Katarina had both the late Joern Utzon’s and his son Jan Utzon’s support to create this photographic masterpiece. PANDORA studied both the words and the imagery in the book and decided it was hard to bypass this opportunity to support a product with such strong links to Danish Design Heritage. PANDORA saw this as an opportunity to assist a young artist to fulfill her dreams, to support a book that pays tribute Joern Utzon and the beautiful sculpture, that brings people to Sydney from all around the world, and to highlight PANDORA’s own Scandinavian Design roots. Katarina proved to be a master at facilitating. She prepared a busy and successful launch program, organised a string of impressive sponsors including The Danish Consulate, The Danish Club in Melbourne, Saatchi & Saatchi, Scandinavian Airlines, Ecco Shoes, Hungerford Hill Wines and of course PANDORA. Equally, Katarina obtained exceptional venues for the many launch events including the prestigious Utzon Room at the Sydney Opera House, The new offices of The Danish Club in Melbourne, Saatchi & Saatchi’s offices overlooking The Sydney Opera House and Customs House in Sydney. Katarina was interviewed on National TV, radio, and quoted in national newspapers. She was photographed wearing the PANDORA LovePods Collection and always ensured that we as sponsors received the support and coverage that was required to link the PANDORA name with her project. Katarina wore the PANDORA LovePods Collection during all launch events and was photographed in front of her press wall showing sponsor logos. PANDORA retailers attending the PANDORA sponsored event in Melbourne were proud to be associated with such a prestigious launch event and curious to meet both Katarina Stuebe, ‘the young human dynamo’ that they has heard so much about, and Jan Utzon. Since the event, the contacts that Katarina initially facilitated, has meant that PANDORA are now working on a joint project with Scandinavian Airlines, our contact with Denmark House has led us to become members of the Club and we will be displaying our collections at the venue during August and November 2009, and we have made contact with Katarina’s signage sponsors in order to utilise their skills for one of our own events at The Sydney Opera House. In addition to this, we have a number of Katarina’s books, signed by both Katarina and Jan Utzon, which we will use as prestigious corporate gifts in the months ahead. On a personal note, Katarina inspired us partly because she clearly mirrors PANDORA’s energy and youth. Just as we are, in Australia and New Zealand, a young, vibrant, up-and-coming company, Katarina radiates all of these qualities. Her energy, passion and positive attitude is quite clearly infectious. We thank Katarina for her interest in PANDORA, her love of our LovePods Collection, and the positive publicity that has come from being part of her launch program. We wish Katarina all the best and would welcome an opportunity to work with her again in the future. Kind regards Margrethe Marsh Marketing Manager
