• Analyze a variety of texts to create an opinion about the use of Native American Mascots in schools/sports teams, including evidence from The Absolute True Diary of a Part-Time Indian

• Explore the concept of the individual vs. the community by looking at Junior’s struggle in the text.

• Prepare for a Socratic Seminar discussion on social issue through persuasive/argument writing.

• Participate in a real-world discussion on a social issue.
