Our group is recognized as being experts in complex property valuation matters and regularly performs assignments involving property, portfolio, partnership, fee simple, leased fee and leasehold interests along with market rent determinations.

The advisory and consulting practice provides market research and analysis, market and financial feasibility studies, investment counseling, counseling for development, acquisition, sale, leasing and financing along with expert witness testimony and litigation support for all types of real estate.

Our team has more valuation professionals with the MAI designation awarded by the Appraisal Institute than any other independent commercial real estate firm on the West Coast. Five hold the prestigious Counselor of Real Estate (CRE) designation. Members of the group are also active with the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and hold the FRICS and MRICS designations.

Valuation Advisory Services specializes in all property types including investment-grade real estate, office, retail, industrial, apartments, condominiums, hotels and resorts, mixed-use properties, low income tax credit properties, health care, golf courses, marinas, athletic clubs, parking garages, service stations, truck stops, agricultural land, mining properties, restaurants, branch banks,

Peter has been a real estate appraiser since 1980 and during that time has amassed a widely diverse portfolio of experience in the appraisal industry. He served his apprenticeship in the Puget Sound region and then was promoted to Manager of Shorett & Riely’s office in San Jose, California. He has concentrated on real estate valuation issues for properties located in the Puget Sound and Pacific Coast regions since returning to the Pacific Northwest in 1990.

Andy has been a real estate appraiser since 1990. Specialties include retail, industrial, office, medical office, marina, athletic club, and vacant land. Retail experience ranges from single tenant net leased properties to enclosed malls. National retailers like Target, Lowes, Kohl’s and Costco have engaged him for tax appeal valuations. Andy is frequently called upon for fair market rent determinations for improved properties and ground leases. He has experience with partial interests, air rights, land use agreements and condemnation.

Gary has been involved with economic analysis of real estate since 1969 and since 1982 in real estate appraisal. Since 1989, he has specialized in multifamily residential complexes. Since joining Kidder Mathews Valuation Advisory Services in October of 2004, David has provided valuation services for a wide variety of commercial property types including office, industrial, retail, multifamily, hospitality, marina, and development properties. His experience includes complex properties like biotechnology research facilities, data centers, sawmills, shipyards, and other specialized property types. He is nationally recognized for data center valuation expertise. Assignments have included valuation of leasehold interests, air rights, condemnation compensation, conservation easements as well as market rent studies. David’s experience also includes project management and analyst roles with private real estate development firms in Seattle. JOHN ANDREWS, MAI


John graduated from the University of Washington with a Masters in Business Administration, combined with an undergraduate degree that emphasized real estate finance. He

brings with him special expertise in financial trending and analysis as well as research experience. Since joining Kidder Mathews in October 1996, John provides consultation services and valuation analysis on a variety of property types, including office, warehouse, hotels, theaters, restaurants and forest and timber lands.

JEREMY STREUFERT, MAI


Jeremy has been actively engaged in the appraisal of real estate since joining Kidder Mathews in 2001. Jeremy’s experience includes appraisals, market studies, and feasibility analysis on a variety of property types with a focus on the multifamily market including conventional market rate rental housing and the affordable housing sector. Affordable housing experience includes appraisals and market studies involving the low income housing tax credit program, HUD subsidized housing, public housing and other affordable housing programs. Areas of experience include work in Washington, Oregon and Idaho. He holds a Bachelor of Science, Civil Engineering degree from Washington State University.

Kelsey also works as a book editor and designer, specializing in educational materials and books for young readers. Ian Curry has been actively engaged in the appraisal of real estate in the state of Washington since 2002, joining Kidder Mathews Valuation Advisory Services in August 2007. He received his MAI designation in 2014. Brett joined Kidder Mathews in April 2017. He has over 13 years of experience in the real estate industry. Real estate valuation assignment uses range from financial reporting, feasibility and market studies, acquisition due-diligence, consulting, buy-out negotiations, property tax appeals, estate and gift, and litigation work. Mr. Reynolds’ valuation expertise has been successfully relied upon as an expert witness for Federal Tax Court. Areas of specialization include planned developments, subdivisions, leasehold/leased fee analyses, and project modeling. He has appraised all varieties of commercial, industrial, and multifamily properties in the Western United States for more than 30 years. He is a recognized expert in valuing all types of real estate. He has been designated as an expert in real estate valuation issues in courts and has testified on over 60 occasions. He was selected as an independent arbitrator and has been approved as a commercial appraiser by several nationally chartered banks and government agencies.

Matthew joined Kidder Mathews in April 2017. Mr. VanEck entered the field of commercial real estate in 2005. His appraisal experience consists of valuing traditional operating properties including all types of retail, office and industrial properties, as well as specialty properties such as hotels, studios, marinas, aggregate mines, railroad right-of-ways, rail yards, utility easements, conservation easements and residential and commercial land developments. He has experience in performing valuations for tax reporting, financing, property tax appeals, eminent domain, litigation support and US financial accounting purposes. Mr. VanEck is currently the the chair of the Southern Branch of the Southern California Chapter Appraisal Institute and Treasurer for the Orange County chapter of IRWA.

Taylor joined Kidder Mathews in February 2020. He has extensive experience in the appraisal of industrial, office, retail, and multi-family assets across the US. Taylor also has experience in the appraisal of regional and national portfolios and has performed portfolio premium analyses in conjunction with many of these assignments. He has served a wide range of clients including pension funds, pension fund advisors, investment advisors, and national and regional financial institutions. Taylor holds a BA Liberal Arts and Sciences, Linguistics from San Diego State University.

Randall entered the commercial real estate valuation business in early 2005 as an appraiser with CB Richard Ellis. In March 2009, he joined Strategic Valuation Group as a senior partner. In October 2019, he was recruited by Kidder Mathews to become manager of Valuation Advisory Services for the Phoenix office. Randall's appraisal experience involves a wide variety of property types including retail, office, industrial, hotels, luxury resorts, surgery centers, apartments, net lease investments and all types of land and land assemblages. He also provides litigation support/expert witness testimony. Randall holds a MBA, W.P. Steven joined Kidder Mathews in May 2020. He previously served as an Executive Director in Transaction Real Estate at Ernst & Young for 24 years and was the former head of the real estate valuation practice. He is a certified appraiser in Arizona, California, Colorado and Nevada and is a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS). Steven has expertise in valuation for financial reporting and purchase price allocation as well as extensive public sector and P3 advisory and valuation experience working with the U.S. Government, local municipalities and colleges and universities. He also provides market feasibility studies, cash flow analysis, highest and best use studies and tax benefit studies. Steven has corporate real estate experience in asset monetization strategies, lease impairment estimates and site location analysis. He is qualified as a real estate valuation expert in U.S. Bankruptcy Court and Pima County Superior Court.
