Principals Report

Term 1 Week 2

Welcome back to another exciting year at Campbelltown East Public School. A special welcome to all of the new students and families that have joined us this year. The students have all settled into their new classes and are engaging in quality learning.

Classes for 2020 and Supervision 2020 classes are all settled and working hard. The classes for the 2020 school year are as Follows:

This year we welcome several new staff members to our school. MsMarsh is teaching 1M in 2020, Mr McGifford will be working across the school with a focus on supporting and teaching in Stage 3 and Mrs Stephenson will also be working across the school from K-6.

In the coming weeks you will see work begin on extending the school car park with the objective of increasing safety within the carpark. Each day, our car park is accessed by several large vehicles that transport students to and from school. Our present car park layout does not provide space for the vehicles to turn forcing them to reverse putting our students and carpark users at risk. During construction time, teachers will be parking down the back of the school oval. You may notice increased activity along Valley Road as the work takes place. We apologise for any inconvenience caused during this time and do appreciate your understanding.

This year at Campbelltown East Public School we will again have a strong focus on Goal Setting and having a Positive Mindset. We are inviting all parents/carers to come along to ‘Goal Setting’ meetings. This is a great opportunity to discuss individual students and goals to work towards for the term. We would love to see you all come along. Meetings are held in Week 4 from Monday 17th February – Thursday 20th February 2020. I look forward to another exciting year at Campbelltown East. Mrs Janene Cook Principal

PBL Winners

Congratulations to the following PBL winners.

Renzo S 1S ‘Safe’ Award

Renzo has been through some physical changes recently and has had to consider being a safe more than before. He listens to instructions about entering and exiting the classroom safely. Renzo moves around the classroom in a timely manner whilst considering others around him. He makes sure he waits to retrieve his familiar reads whilst the book holder is being used by more than a few people. Renzo is learning to be safe in the support playground and move around with the help of others. He is also starting to ask for help from his peers and adults when he needs it. Well done Renzo!

Rylee A 4-5M

‘Respectful’ Award On a recent excursion to the University of Western Sydney Campbelltown Campus, Rylee represented CEPS with pride. She was

thoroughly engaged in all presentations and displayed excellent manners at all time. She listened attentively to all speakers and frequently asked questions to deepen her knowledge. Rylee demonstrated a keen interest in all the activities on offer and was very helpful towards her peers. Thank you for being such a wonderful representative of our school, Rylee

Indigenous Design School Shirts To continue the celebration of Indigenous culture within our school we have introduced a newly designed school shirt to our uniform options. You may recognise the design from our amazing Indigenous mural on our Kindy block! A big thank you to Zac at Saltwater Dreamtime for allowing us to use his design on these shirts. These new school shirts are in addition to our current uniform and are not replacing the existing blue school top. This means you can wear either of our top options. Just like our blue school tops, our new Indigenous designed shirts can be worn as normal school shirts from Monday to Thursday with the yellow Sports Uniform on Friday.

These shirts are $35, are of beautiful quality and AVAILABLE TO ALL STUDENTS! You can purchase them from the front office and if we do not have your size available we can order them in for you.

LATENESS TO SCHOOL

Important Reminder: Many students are arriving to school late in the morning. It’s getting colder and we understand that it is tempting to stay in bed for a little longer. However, the bell that signals the start of the school day rings at 8.55am. It is a legal requirement for students to be at school and it is important for them to hear the morning messages and routines for the day. As teacher rols are legal documents, it is vital that they are accurate so it is necessary for all students who are not in lines, therefore late, to go to the office for a late note. Our roles are regularly monitored by the School Home Liaison Officer and regular patterns of lateness to school are monitored. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause but these protocols ensure the safety of all students. Galactic Gus says, ‘Make it your goal to be at school every day and in line every time!’

Notes Home All notes and money from students are to be returned to the office before school. No notes are to be sent to the classroom. Please place notes in the blue letterbox in the office foyer. Thankyou for your assistance. Please find attached the following notes:

• PG Movie permission note. • Stage 2 Supplies & Stationary. • Walking Group – Expression of

Interest • Swimming Carnival
