closed on 29th June? What about joining in

with International Mud Day? This is all about

children, professionals – and anyone else – all

over the world celebrating nature, outdoors,

and mess by getting really muddy. You can

participate wherever you happen to be on June

29! Join children and adults across the globe

on this day of celebration to grow awareness of

the goodness of life experienced when children

Achieve- ments

Congratulations to Scott Davey for achieving stage

1 Learn to swim.

Thank you

For sending the children back to school

looking so smart. It is lovely to see sum-

mer uniform being worn - let’s hope the

warmer weather is here to stay!

Multi-cultural Week

During the week beginning 15th June, we will be celebrating our school’s cultural diversity by

having a Multi-cultural week.

Each class will be learning about a different country or culture and will take part in cross-

curricular activities relating to this. We hope the children will have opportunities to experience a

rich diversity of food, language, music, dance and art.

The children will be sharing their learning with each other and the work displayed.

Packed Lunches

Please ensure that sandwiches and

lunches are stored in plastic contain-

ers not plastic bags as these are not

hygienic.

Sun Safety

Please ensure that children have

sun hats in school at all times

this term. You may also provide

them with sun cream for them to reapply

at lunchtime if you wish.

New bottle tops available in the school

office!

Sports Day 2015 - How it works!

On Thursday 9th of July we will be holding our annual sports day. It will follow a very similar format to previous years but

we still ask that you read the following information.

At 8.30am on this day we will be starting with Wake and Shake in both the KS1 and KS2 playground. It will be great to see

as many of you as we can, including parents!

On the day there will be two designated circles marked out on the field, the inner one being for the children, the other

one being for parents/carers. We ask that you stay in the outer circle and encourage your child to stay with their class in

in the inner circle. I am sure that you are aware that the new pre school building is in progress and we would like to con-

tinue with sports day; however the field size will be reduced this year.

At approximately 9.15am the children will lead out from the hall in their classes and parade around the circle of activi-

ties, giving them the opportunity to wave at you. Then each class will position themselves at a starting activity. When the

children are instructed they will undertake their first activity. Once completed a signal will be given and all the children

will move on to the next activity. This process will continue until all the children have completed all the activities. During

this time you are welcome to move around the outside circle in line with your child or choose to establish a base in one

position.

As the children rotate around the activities, points will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd and these points will be added up

at the end of all the events to establish a 1st, 2nd and 3rd child for each class.

After the children have completed their activities we will then all move around the track so that we can have an adult

interactive race chosen by Y6. So, if you’re feeling fit, this is your chance!

We will then take the children back to the KS2 playground and line them up. They will then be sent to you for a picnic. If

your child has ordered school dinners on this day then they will still receive it. Also, if you are unable to attend, please do

not worry as our staff will have lunch with your child.

After the picnic we will then ask all the children to go back to the playground and meet their teacher. We will then gather

around the centre of the circle in classes and present medals to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners for each class. At this point

we will also be presenting 4 awards for great effort. All the children will also be presented with participation stickers

when they return to their class afterwards.

Following the presentation the children will again follow their teacher back into their class to be registered and to gather

their items. Children then will be dismissed on their usual playground and are welcome to go home early with your-

selves. In order to make this process as easy as can be can we please ask that you complete the form attached regarding

permission for early pick up? Children will only be able to leave before 3.05pm with a named adult.

On this day we will also be running a tuck-shop for the children and teas for parents. Teas will be available during the

whole event however we ask that you do not to allow your children to the tuck shop until the start of the picnic. Your

child will be given water whilst rotating around the circle of activities.

During sports day it is also expected that your child wears their school PE kits. We will be sending them home the night

before so children can arrive on the day in their kits ready for action! If your child does not come in their kit we will, as

with PE lessons contact you for a kit because it would be a shame for anyone to miss out on this fun day.

Thanking you

Mrs Connolly
