functional and aesthetic, of the vast range of the various products. These materials can basically be divided up into four large families: Steel, non-ferrous alloys, Jntered materials and p l d matarids.

STEEL As far as the steel is concerned, this material is widely used in the pmhtion of Mnges and responds to partrcular requirements such as wewility, ensuring the seal of the welded items. workability which guarant- a high aesthetic surface standard, and breakage resistance to guarantee the A M i of the prduct. Thew types of steel conform to reoognised International stamlards such as: EN 119-74, UNI 7538-74, EN t50-87, UNI 4838, UNI 8901.

NUN-FERROUS ALLOYS As far as the mferrous albyoys are commed such as brass, bronze, light alloys, dnc alloys and o h r p-kular alloys, they conform to b t h the UNI 5705, UMI 900712 and UNf 6362/88 standards and to wr particularly restrictive Internal standards. Besides mechanical resistance and stability, this also ensuw aesthetic characteristics and high resistance @nst m-rosion.

SlNT ERED MATERIALS The sintered matedak used in very partloular appiications have to satisfy partlwlar requirements of anti-

glipping, self-lubMtion, and antl-oxidlsatlon. For tfils reason they are almost always made up of specially studied, blended and processed powders.

PLASTIC MATERWLS The plastlc materials that are norinally used have b respond to qxcbt lons and various requirements: mechanical resistance, wear resistance, resistance to compression, resistance to M i l and atmmpherlc agents, resistance to UV, etaskity aid, last but not least, aesthetic characteristics. For thls rrtason many of the plastk materials used have b m -ally studied and contain additives and substances which improve and. at times. radically change the characteristics of the normal raw materials. so as to b able to hlty satisfy the spedfic n w d s of evely hem.

I STANDARD OTLAV LABORATORY TESTS All the products are put through standard tests which regard the actual mechanical resktm, the wear resistance and resistame to corrasion. O t b r &c tests are mrried out to test parblcular characteristics of the lndlvldual mud.

AIl !hesa tests are canid out at the OTLAV test laboratory, using machinery and systems whi i , in nmt cases. are s p c h l l y designed and constructed. W!m follows a lbrlef ~ d p t l o n of the three standard tests.

1) UNT HREADING RESISTANCE TEST The test consists of measurn the force needed to remove the threaded hlnge pin previoudy Wed in accordance with ihe normal industrj practice, from a determinate material.
