BACKGROUND/RATIONALE Pursuant to Board Policy 155, all out-of-state travel for Directors and Officers to attend a conference or a meeting related to District business and at District expense, shall be approved by action of the Board of Directors priorto incurring expenses in addition, the policy allows for the pre-payment of conference registration, airfare and hotel costs in an existing fiscal year for travel that occurs or is scheduled to occur in the next fiscalyear. This travelauthorization has been prepared in accordance with Board Policy 155. These conferences will occur in conjunction with the Transportation Research Board's 97th Annual Meeting, January 7-11, 20].8 in Washington, D.C., which Director Peeples is already authorizedto attend. The Transportation Camp DC 2018 Conference brings together transportation professionals, technologists, and others interested in the intersection of urban transportation and technology. Recentadvances in technology--mobile computing, open source software, open data and Apes, and spatial analysis--present an opportunity to improve mobility more immediately and at a lower cost than has ever been possible in the past. Transportation Camp raises awareness of this opportunity and builds connections between disparate innovators in public administration, transportation operations, information design, and software engineering. BACKGROUND/RATIONALE

Pursuant to Board Policy 155, all out-of-state travel for Directors and Officers to attend aconference or a meeting related to District business and at District expense, shall be approvedby action of the Board of Directors priorto incurring expenses in addition, the policy allows forthe pre-payment of conference registration, airfare and hotel costs in an existing fiscal year fortravel that occurs or is scheduled to occur in the next fiscalyear. This travelauthorization hasbeen prepared in accordance with Board Policy 155.

These conferences will occur in conjunction with the Transportation Research Board's 97th

Annual Meeting, January 7-11, 20].8 in Washington, D.C., which Director Peeples is alreadyauthorized to attend.

The Transportation Camp DC 2018 Conference brings together transportation professionals,technologists, and others interested in the intersection of urban transportation and technology.Recent advances in technology--mobile computing, open source software, open data and Apes,and spatial analysis--present an opportunity to improve mobility more immediately and at alower cost than has ever been possible in the past. Transportation Camp raises awareness of

this opportunity and builds connections between disparate innovators in public administration,transportation operations, information design, and software engineering.
