InformationLake Mary Preparatory School is proud to offer a fun-filled summer day camp designed for children that are in grades Pre-K – 8th. Our day camp has nine weeks of engaging activities, games, guest speakers, and field trips that will captivate your child and all of their interests. Each week will have a different theme that will challenge your child to transform their summer into an awesome experience. In addition, the “week–to–week” camp plan allows you to select which weeks your child will attend camp; or for the ultimate camp experience, they can join us every week!Each group will have a team of qualified staff members that will create a fun and positive learning environment. We maintain a low counselor-to-child ratio to ensure the safety of our children. Our groups will focus on different aspects of sports, art, music and literature through professional educational techniques. Weekly fees include all activities, field trips, a snack, and lunch. Camp shirts are required to be worn on all field trips. Each child will receive one summer camp shirt at registration; additional shirts can be purchased as needed. We invite you to sign up for our camp and discover what Lake Mary Preparatory School has to offer your child.

Week 1 June 1 - 5 Ninja Warrior Do you have what it takes to be a Ninja Warrior? We will work on different obstacles to build strength, endurance, and confidence!

Week 2 June 8 - 12 Amazing Race Race to the finish line! Campers will participate in entertaining foot, go-kart, sack, and wheelbarrow races. The list of races are endless and the fun experiences are unlimited!

Week 3 June 15 - 19 Fitness & Health Build up your cardio and stay fit as we explore different ways to keep our bodies healthy! Learn about healthy meals & snacks, relax with a yoga session or simply increase your heart rate with energized cardio activities. Week 4 June 22 - 26 When Nature Calls Embrace the outdoors and uncover what Mother Nature has in-store for you! Learn how to look for animal footprints, swim in Florida’s natural spring water, get up and close with wildlife and so much more!

Week 5 June 29 - July 3 Sticky, Wet & Wild! What’s a summer camp without moments where you can get wet and sticky? Join us for a week full of slime, water activities, pie face games, body painting, color runs, and pure messy fun!

Week 6 July 6 - 10 Winter In July Chill out in the heat with winter activities and festivities! Get ready for snow days, ice skating, holiday songs, penguin races, and ice challenges.

Week 7 July 13 - 17 “ART”attack Unleash your creativity and love for art with a week focusing on fine and performing arts. Sing to the top of your lungs, create beautiful masterpieces, and discover your hidden talents. There is so much art built into this week…. you may experience an “ART”attack!

Week 8 July 20 - 24 Vroom, Vroom Around the Room Planes, trains and automobile things! Buckle up your seat belt and get ready to explore what’s underneath the hood of a race car, meet an actual pilot, ride on a train, and pass your summer camp driver’s test!

Week 9 July 27 - 31 Ready, Set, Go…. Tokyo! (Summer Olympics 2020) Kon’nichiwa! Welcome to the 2020 Summer Olympics….. LMP style! Travel with us to Tokyo as we embrace Japanese culture and participate in friendly Olympic competitions. Everyone will feel like a gold medalist at the end of this week! Water Activities

Pre-K campers will visit the Lake Mary Splash Park once a week Primary & Middle School campers will visit the pool at Seminole and/or Oviedo Aquatics once a week.

Dancing Fairy Tale PrincessGrade Level: entering 5 year olds - 2nd graders Instructor: Ms. Jennifer Kobrin Cost: $195Dates: June 1 - 5 Times: 8:30 a.m. –12:30 p.m. Overview: Take a magical journey through the land offairy tales where you will become and celebrate a different princess each day. You will hear a story about the princess of theday, make a craft that is related to her, play fairy tale games that corresponds to her tale, and put on your ballet slippers to dance inher shoes. Each princess will learn ballet and lyrical dance steps set to that day’s princess music. Other enchanting activities shall include a fairy finding hunt, a tea party, and a dress up day. Leotards and tights are required. Ballet slippers are not required but please bring them if you have them.

Number SenseGrade Level: entering Kindergarten - 2nd graders Instructor: Ms. Laura Nolan Cost: $195Dates: June 1 -5 Times: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Overview: Let’s make some sense out of numbers! This camp will help your child grasp a better understanding of numbers and how to apply critical thinking. This is the basis of Singapore math. Singapore math is a highly effective teaching approach that instills a deep understanding of mathematical concepts. Some of the key features of the approach include the CPA (Concrete, Pictorial, Abstract) progression, number bonds, bar modeling, and mental math. Instead of pushing through rote memorization, students learn to think mathematically and rely on the depth of knowledge gained in previous lessons.

That’s A Fact! (Math Facts & Operations)Grade Level: entering 3rd - 5th graders Instructor: Ms. Laura NolanDates: June 1 -5 Times: 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. Cost: $195Overview: Build up your mathematical foundation by perfecting your math facts! We will take an in-depth look at math facts and basic operations needed in the upper grades. We will cover steps to solve multiplication, long division, and word problems. This camp is an effective way to teach math facts intensely. Solve the math fluency puzzle and build a critical pre-algebra foundation.

Young EinsteinsGrade Level: entering Kindergarten - 2nd graders Instructor: Mrs. Allison RoickiDates: June 8 - 12 Times: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Cost: $195Overview: Young Einsteins is a science hands-on camp for kindergarten through 2nd grade students. Let’s get messy with the scientific process. Students will open up their inquisitive side to see how and why experiments work. During the week we will conduct fun and exciting science experiments, explore, investigate, analyze, and evaluate.

Art on LocationGrade Level: entering 6th - 12th graders Instructor: Ms. Traci ReitzDates: June 8 - 12 Times: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. **Cost: $250Overview: Travel around beautiful Central Florida to capture artistic sceneries as you study art in its essence on location. Students will explore different types of artistic styles such as impressionism, pop art and modern art. In addition, they will use various mediums such as photography, acrylics, and sketching to create beautiful masterpieces. At the end of the week, students will be able to showcase their artwork to their family and friends. **Cost includes all art materials.

All The Right MovesGrade Level: entering 3rd - 5th graders Instructor: Ms. Jennifer KobrinDates: June 15 -19 Times: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Cost: $195Overview: Move and groove to different dance styles! Each day will bring on a new style of dance and music. Express yourself through lyrical, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, and so many other forms of dance. A stretch session to increase your flexibility will be performed daily; along with a craft that allows YOU to express your own style. A little time each day will be devoted to gymnastics, stunts, or lifts. While shoes are not required: Jazz shoes, lyrical shoes, half soles or ballet shoes would be welcomed. If you do not have one of these types of shoes, you will dance barefoot. Socks are not allowed due to slips and falls. Black leggings and a yoga or tank top are required.

Social StarsGrade Level: entering PreK4 - 1st graders Instructor: Mrs. Laura MaitlandDates: June 15 -19 Times: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Cost: $195Overview: Social development is a crucial part of early childhood! Your child will practice and develop essential foundational skills including identifying emotions, self-regulation and coping strategies, and being flexible in play and problem solving with others. Through stories, music, games, and hands on learning/cooperative activities your children will be given the tools they need to be a ‘social star.’

Fine Motor Boot CampGrade Level: entering kindergarten & 1st graders Instructor: Ms. Stephanie PeterkinDates: June 22 - 26 Times: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Cost: $195Overview: This week long camp uses a play-based curriculum that includes adaptable activities that address fine motor skills (including hand strength, stamina, and handwriting), receptive & expressive language, daily living, math skills, and literacy skills.

Summer Stage: Alice In WonderlandGrade Level: entering 4th - 8th graders Instructor: Ms. Katie Corrie Dates: June 22 - 26 Times: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Cost: $250Overview: Tumble down the LMP rabbit hole and join Alice, one of literature’s most beloved heroines, in her madcap adventures this summer as we journey into Wonderland! Acting, music, movement and wacky, creative exploration ensues as we build a production in 5 days. The ever-curious Alice’s journey begins innocently enough as she chases the White Rabbit. Her adventures become increasingly more strange as she races the Dodo Bird, gets tied up with Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, raps with a bubble-blowing Caterpillar and beats the Queen of Hearts at her own game! Roles are plentiful, including three Cheshire Cats and dozens of other wonderfully wacky characters. A chorus of kids playing in the park, rock lobsters, talking fish, royal cards men, and unbirthday parties, allows for a colorful and fabulous cast.

Art AcademyGrade Level: entering 1st - 4th graders Instructor: Mrs. Allison RoickiDates: June 22 -26 Times: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. **Cost: $250Overview: Do you love arts & crafts? Join us for a week of hands-on artistic fun! During this week of camp we will tie dye, paint, enjoy hours of slime creations, make our own play-doh, weave, and learn how to use the Cricut with simple kid friendly projects. These are just a few of the fun projects we will make at Art Academy! **Cost includes all art materials.

Let’s Write!Grade Level: entering 2nd & 3rd graders Instructor: Mrs. Cynthia SivaDates: July 6 - 10 Times: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Cost: $195Overview: This camp will help young writers develop and practice basic writing skills. The week is designed to help young writers develop their interest in writing. By the end of the week students will “publish” a book. Their book will contain a selection of different genres of writing. Each day will begin with a story and an invitation to write. Lead by Cynthia Siva, a writing consultant and Co-Director of the National Writing Project in Daytona Beach, FL.

Are you ready for a week packed with a variety of writing activities? Campers will have the opportunity to write “on location” and use different genres. During the week you will sharpen your writing skills and be prepared for the upcoming school year when you return to school. Lead by Cynthia Siva, a writing consultant and Co-Director of the National Writing Project in Daytona Beach, FL.

Summer Stage: Chronicles of Narnia Grade Level: entering 4th - 8th graders Instructor: Ms. Katie Corrie Dates: July 13 - 17 Times: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Cost: $250Overview: Adventure, high drama and active acting merge together in this C.S. Lewis classic play production! This play adaptation faithfully recreates the magic and mystery of Aslan, the great lion, his struggle with the White Witch, and the adventures of four children who inadvertently wander from an old wardrobe into the exciting, never-to-be-forgotten Narnia. The intense action features chases, duels and escapes as the witch is determined to keep Narnia in her possession and to end the reign of Aslan. All the memorable episodes from the story are represented in this exciting dramatization: the temptation of Edmund by the witch, the slaying of the evil wolf by Peter, the witnessing of Aslan’s resurrection by Susan and Lucy, the crowing of the four new rulers of Narnia, and more. The supporting characters are also here: the unicorn, the centaur and other forest animals, along with Father Christmas, Mr. and Mrs. Beaver and Tumnus the Faun. This story of love, faith, courage and giving, with its triumph of good over evil, is a true celebration of life. Stage combat, magic and special effects will round out this fantastic week.

The Ocean is My Classroom! (Kindergarten Readiness)Grade Level: entering Kindergarten students Instructor: Ms. Stephanie PeterkinDates: July 13 - 17 Times: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Cost: $195Overview: This ocean-themed week is designed to get students ready for the beginning of Kindergarten. Focus: Kindergarten readiness including listening skills, increased independence, and responsibility, recognizing and reading sight words, recognizing, naming, and writing all alphabet letters (upper and lowercase), orally producing all alphabet letter sounds, recognizing, naming, writing, and counting numbers, handwriting practice, writing their name, and social skills. Is your child ready for Kindergarten?

“Write” Start! Grade Level: entering 6th – 8th graders Instructor: Mrs. Cynthia SivaDates: July 20 -24 Times: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Cost: $195Overview: Would you like to sharpen your writing skills before returning back to school? 1st Grade Voyagers Grade Level: entering 1st graders Instructor: Mrs. Allison RoickiDates: July 20 – 24 Times: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Cost: $195Overview: Incoming first grade students will be introduced to the skills of first grade in the areas of phonics, comprehension, writing and math. This will be a fun way to get your child ready for first grade! During the course of the week we will review the phonics skills and how to apply the patterns in word work stations. Does he/she need to brush up on some skills before school starts back? Or, will this school year be their first time in an academic setting? This camp is designed to help your early learner enter into the classroom with the fundamentals and confidence that he or she will need. Through fun activities and games we will help them develop basic math, pre-writing, and pre-reading skills.

Middle School Boot Camp(Offered to current and new 2020 - 2021 LMP students)Grade Level: entering grades 6th – 8th Instructor: Mrs. Kathy BenefielDates: July 27 - 31 Times: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Cost: $195Overview: This class will present middle school students with a compilation of meaningful advice, methods and activities that will help middle school students reach their academic goals. The class is designed to lead middle school students to understand their learning styles and offers recommendations towards utilizing personal strengths towards academic success. This camp is perfect to help your child adjust to the transition from 5th to 6th grade. In addition, this camp will help 7th and 8th graders keep on track academically and socially. Topics include: learning styles, goal setting and organization, cognitive skills, time & stress management and test preparation.

Archery Grade Level: entering 4th – 8th graders (Co-ed) Instructor: Ms. Sarah Wisherd Dates: June 1 - 5 Time: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Cost: $195 Overview: Campers will be divided into groups based on their skill level, which will provide a great atmosphere for beginners as well as for more experienced archers. In this fun-filled camp, Coach Wisherd will focus on several fundamentals including: stance, setup, anchor points and release. Awards will be handed out at the completion of camp for most accurate and improved shooters.

Girls Softball Grade Level: entering 1st - 8th graders Instructor: Ms. Nichole Rouse Dates: June 1 - 5 Time: 8:30 - 12:30 p.m. Cost: $195 Overview: The Lake Mary Prep softball camp is designed to ensure every camper will have a positive and fun experience while learning essential skills, drills, and techniques that are involved with softball. TennisGrade level: entering 2nd - 8th graders Instructor: Ms. Wendy PeeplesDates: June 29 - July 3 Time: 8:30a.m. – 12:30p.m. Cost: $195Overview: Lake Mary Prep tennis camp provides young players the opportunity to improve their tennis game, work hard, and have a lot of fun. Learn how to be successful with strokes, court management, and match play. Campers will be introduced to the USTA balls: 8 year olds and under will use red balls, 9 - 11 year olds will use orange balls, and 12 year olds and older will use green dot balls. This camp is perfect for boys and girls of all skill levels.

Track & Field/Speed and Agility Grade level: entering 2nd – 8th graders (Co-ed) Instructor: Mrs. Nicole BrownDates: July 13 -17 Time: 8:30a.m. – 12:30p.m. Cost: $195Overview: Lake Mary Prep track & field/speed camp is designed to help athletes improve their body awareness, body control, running form, and will include instruction for a variety of track and field events. The camp will focus on strengthening the key muscles needed for proper running mechanics and speed through a series of drills, exercises, dynamic and functional movements. Lego Robotics Grade Level: ages 7-14 years old Dates: June 1 - 5 Time: 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (Drop off as early as 8:30 a.m.)Cost: $219.00Overview: Our “Robocamps”; teach programming, building, troubleshooting and the art and science behind being a true robotics engineer. The camps feature LEGO© Mindstorm EV3 set. We are now only using the new EV3 Robot which will allow campers to get deeper into the builds and skill building activities. The curriculum used for all of our camps comes from LEGO © Education and is carefully planned by our founder drawing from 20+ years of robotics teaching, training and curriculum development for schools and various departments of education across the US. All of the sets feature LEGO © Building Instructions and Lesson Briefs; some demonstrate using videos. The skillsets learned during the week(s) in the camp include real programming and engineering principles which can be applied beyond the camp.

Our week-long program will introduce your child to the fashion industry and teach them basic design and sewing skills. Your little explorers will enjoy hands-on projects to learn about fabric and it’s origin and how geography plays a major role in the fashion industry. They will learn the art of a sewing machine, all of the necessary sewing terminology & equipment, hand sewing techniques, how to take measurements and so much more. All supplies and workbooks will be provided. Please pack a water bottle, snacks, and lunch.

Form 2 Fashion: Level UPGrade Level: entering Kindergarten - 5th graders Date: June 22 - 26Time: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.Cost: $325Overview: Ready, Set, Sew, ...Time to level up! Take your child’s sewing skills to the next level! This camp is open to students who have completed Level 1, as well as those who have completed Level 2.This emphasizes accuracy as your little designer will learn how to finish off projects cleanly and with ease. Your child will choose a simple garment to design & work on throughout the program and show off during our end of camp showcase. This class has a strong emphasis on math and measuring skills learned in the previous beginner’s program. You will also receive a daily update on your child’s progress! All supplies and workbooks will be provided. Please pack a water bottle, snacks and lunch. ** Successful completion of Form 2 Fashion Level 1 or demonstrated skills assessment is required. Students who have taken Level 2 will work on additional projects to further enhance their skill set.

This is a camp designed by you—the Inventor!Each day you’ll be given a series of challenges which must be overcome using basic materials, simple machines, tips from world famous inventors and the most important thing of all – your mind. With a little bit of ingenuity you’ll construct catapults and forts and then lay siege, fabricate a winning Egg Drop design, construct a dancing robot, and assemble a working light saber to take home. While Thomas Edison said invention is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration, this camp is 100% fun! Robotics and Coding CampGrade Level: entering 1st - 5th graders Dates: July 20 - 24Time: 9:00am - 3:00pm Cost: Before May 1st: $269, After May 1st: $299Overview: Use your robotics knowledge to become a master programmer! We’ll be using Dot and Dash robots, along with Ozobots to learn about robotics and coding. We’ll put our robots to the test by programming them to perform all sorts of tasks! We’ll make our robots dance, avoid obstacles, follow lines, respond to our voice, and even talk!This camp is adaptable to all levels, so beginners and experts can all have a blast!Part of the camp day will also be dedicated to building a robot that the kids will get to take home at the end of the week!

Boom, Splat, Fizz! Messy, Slimy Science!Grade Level: entering 1st - 5th graders Dates: July 27 - 31Time: 9:00am - 3:00pm Cost: Before May 1st: $229, After May 1st: $265Overview: Love SLIME? How about creating art through Science? And who doesn’t love explosions!? Explore it all in this fun week of camp! We’ll explore art and chemistry, while experimenting with Slime, Mentos Explosions, creating our own bath fissures, and more!
