Where are you going next year?
PALMERSTON CHRISTIAN SCHOOL
Palmerston Christian School is expanding into Senior Secondary commencing with Year 10 in 2013.
Palmerston Campus of the Northern Territory Christian College
Talk to us now about our exciting Senior Program and how it could work for you.
WHAT is it about a story that we love so much? The fi rst thing that we do when we meet people is ask them something like “How are you?” We ask them to tell us a story, and the conversation continues from there as we share and listen and laugh and at times cry with others.
We all like to tell stories and we all have stories to tell. The students at Palmerston Christian School love to tell stories. The school is full of stories and our stories are important to us. They help us learn about each other, to respect, to care and most importantly build positive relationships with each other.
One of the ways that we are sharing our stories is through the PCS Middle School Art Program. Students in Year 8 have been painting panels that will be placed up in the rafters of the walkway linking the lower primary to the upper primary.
As you walk down the walkway one way, 21 panels tell the story of Creation as written in the Bible in Genesis. On the return journey the panels tell the story of Easter. It is our hope that as people experience these stories they will not only fi nd them beautiful and interesting but will also start sharing their own stories.
As a community passionate about growing children we fi nd
ways to be able to celebrate our diversity as well as those things that we have in common.
PCS Family Fun DayEvents like the PCS Family
Fun day provide PCS students with opportunities to share and serve each other and the wider Palmerston Community. Students and community groups come together to share a little about who they are, show how talented the kids of Palmerston are and have a great time doing it.
With this in mind, you are invited to come and join in the Family Fun Day at the school this Saturday from 3pm. “Staff, students and parents have been working hard on lots of fun
activities”, the principal, Andrew Manning said. “This will be a fantastic day for Palmerston families to come, relax and have fun. There will be entertainment provided across the day along with lots of fun activities and stalls to keep kids of all ages entertained including a jumping castle and a big obstacle course. Come and have a look around and experience PCS”. There will be an auction and the evening will conclude with a ‘Movie Under the Stars’ showing of ‘The Adventures of Tintin’. Lots of spot prizes and give-aways will be on offer and you will not want to miss the opportunity to grab a bargain at the Trash and Treasure stall.
Stall sites are still available, both new items and second hand, and if you are interested, please contact the school on 89323377, email to [email protected], or pop into PCS at 50 Waler Road, Marlow Lagoon.

FISHING Hardies Billabong
produced a record-breaking
performance for champion team
Skirts Ditch’n Work in the
Corroboree Park SWB Challenge
at the weekend.
Skipper Tash Rammers, Ella
Paterson and Kathryn Green
blitzed the field with a record
1059-point tally to win the all-
women’s fishing tournament.
Rammers also claimed the
champion angler and biggest fish
awards (86cm barramundi).
It was the first time the team
had fished the challenge, hosted
by Palmerston Game Fishing
Club. It was also the first time
organisers opened Hardies to the
fishing catchment for the
competition, a move that proved
a winner, with the billabong
producing the top three teams.
‘‘It was a great success, with a
significant amount of fish coming
from Hardies,’’ co-ordinator Paul
Williams said.
Teams scored points by
catching barramundi, saratoga
and tarpon. A total of 178 barra
and 24 saratoga were caught and
released during the two days.
‘‘We are extremely happy with
the amount of fish that were
caught. It showed the
commitment and the
competence of all the anglers
involved,’’ Paul said.
Runner-up team was A Cupla
Qwyties N a Chill (Mary Van Der
Velde, Tracey Saliba, Nyome
Page and Jan Harris) with 885
points, and third was Fish N Chix
(Trish Wright, Sharon Leine,
Lynne Fry and Belinda Simmons)
on 762. Twenty-eight teams
fished the event, held over two
days on Corroboree and
Hardies billabongs.
The invitation-only all-women’s
tournament, for teams of two to
four fishers, is in its seventh year.
The biggest saratoga award went
to Jenny McIntyre of Aluring
Babes (64cm).
