اليوم ك� كل عام، يحتفل العا� بيوم املرأة العاملي ويحتفل بها كأم برسالة نبيلة خالل هذا الشهر

أيضا. و نحن نحتفل باملرأة، ولكن بع� سين�ئية وثائقية خاصة جدا. نحتفل بها من خالل "أسبوع

فيلم املرأة" يف دورته الرابعة، اال أن هذا العام له طع� ونكهة وحتى شكال مختلفا... أسبوع من

عروض ألفالم مميزة لنساء يتخط� العقبات ليتميزن، سواء كانت نساء غ©ن وجه التاريخ أو

أمثلة عن نساء يستطعن و¸تلكن املقدرة عىل التغي©. تعرض األفالم هذا العام قصص سيدات

فيه بدأن ما يكملن حتى وجاد دؤوب وعمل وإخالص بكل صدق التاريخ من كت¿ صفحات

أخريات أو يصدقن بحمل راية التغي© لألجيال القادمة. .

املجاالت، جميع يف مكانتها وأثبتت حقوقها عىل حصلت املرأة ألن ليس نحتفل اليوم نحن

فاملشوار ما زال طويال. ولكننا نحتفل ألن النساء ما زلن قادرات و سيبق� قادرات عىل الخوض يف

أي معركة من شأنها أن تحقق املساواة التي تستحقها هي واملجتمع بأكمله.

وما أجمل أن نوثق ونصور ونخرج أفالما تتحدى الواقع بقصص ليست من الخيال و إÆا من أحالم ورسالة بطالتنا و سيداتنا الالÅ حلمن

فعملن فحققن ما عقدن العزم عليه ليصبح واقعا ملموسا يعاش، بل و له تداعيات عىل األجيال القادمة. فتحية اكبار لهن، تحية وألف

Love and peace be upon all,

Today, as every year, the world commemorates International Women's Day, and let’s not forget that this is also the month we celebrate Mother’s Day – another noble role for women. On the occasion of the 4th edition of the Women’s Film Week, we are also celebrating women in a special artistic way, adding a different flavor to this year’s edition of the Film Week.

This week of film screenings is about exceptional women, who strived to overcome challenges in order to achieve their dreams; those are either women who already changed the course of history or ordinary women who set the example by finding the courage and the will to make a change.

We are screening stories that are already carved in history – whose script have been written through passion, hard work and the determination to continue the path that other women have previously paved, while passing the baton with pride to future generations.

This week, we are acknowledging women who successfully claimed their rights and who deserved to become champions in various fields. While there is still a long way to go before reaching full gender equality and the recognition of women’s rights, we believe that women have the potential – and will show their potential – to overcome any obstacle on their war and to find their place in their own community, society and country.

What a thrilling moment to film, document and direct these amazing stories, which are not the figment of our imagination but actual stories of dreams coming true. These are our heroes who dreamt hard, worked hard, and achieved the highest simple because they believe they could have made it.

Thank you, thanks to them and thanks to all the men all over the world who believe and support women, and who promote gender equality.

مونت، بتهمة اإلبادة الج�عية، وإدانته هذه هي األوىل من نوعها يف التاريخ لرئيس دولة سابق بتهمة اإلبادة

الج�عية أمام محكمة وطنية.

تم إطالق الوثائقي ضمن أفالم مهرجان Movies that Matter يف آذار ٥٢٠١. وعرض يف العديد من املهرجانات

حول العا� وتم ترشيحه لجائزة العجل الذهبي كأفضل فيلم وثائقي يف مهرجان هولندا لألفالم لعام ٢٠١٥. ك�

فاز بالعديد من الجوائز يف مهرجانات األفالم يف بياريتز وبروكسل وبراتيسالفا وفيينا. تم ترشيحه مؤخرا لجائرة

األثر اإلعالمي االجت�عي.

Burden of Peace6:30 PM

Joey Boink, Documentary, 115 min, Spanish with English subtitles, Guatemala, 2015

‘Burden of Peace' tells the impressive story of Claudia Paz y Paz, the first woman to lead the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Guatemala. The country that has been ravaged for years by a devastating civil war, in which nearly 200,000 Mayan Indians were systematically massacred, is today one of the most violent countries in the world. Claudia starts a frontal attack against corruption, drug gangs and impunity and does what everyone had hitherto held to be impossible: she arrests former dictator Efraín Rios Montt on charges of genocide. His conviction becomes the first conviction of a former head of state for genocide in a national court in the world history.

The documentary was released during the Movies that Matter Film Festival in March 2015. The film was nominated for a Golden Calf for Best Documentary at the Netherlands Film Festival 2015, and won awards at film festivals in Biarritz, Brussels, Bratislava and Vienna. It has been recently nominated for the Social Impact Media Award.

Today, she is a beacon of hope and a pillar of strength for hundreds of women and girls, who want to change their own lives.

'Dreamcatcher' explores the cycle of neglect, violence and exploitation which each year leaves thousands upon thousands of girls and women feeling that prostitution is their only option to survive. By following the very charming, charismatic and truly empathic Brenda, we enter the lives of young women and see their realities from their points of view.

The documentary has won the World Cinema Documentary Award at the Sundance Film Festival in 2015 and the Grand Special Jury prize as Best Film at the 8th Festival of Muscat.

Samira is an attractive, young Moroccan woman, who is happily married to a banker.

Their lives are turned upside down with the appointment of a new director in the

company, where Samira works, as he begins to harass her. As Samira categorically

refuses, the harassment metamorphoses into vengeance and her life becomes a living

hell. After several attempts to resolve the problem through administrative steps in the

hierarchy of the company, she turns towards a women’s association, whose mission is

to defend the rights of women and to force the authorities to establish legislation

against sexual harassment. This is where she finds herself at a dead end, because it is

very difficult to obtain material proof to support her accusations before the law.

The movie has won the Remi Winner Special Jury Award at 46th Worldfest Houston International Film Festival.

The prison chief promises her a special outing with her baby if she succeeds.

The movie sold over 3 million tickets in Korea, making it the 5th best-selling film of the year in the country.

In 1943, as Hitler continues to wage war across Europe, a group of college students mount an underground resistance movement in Munich. The film has won Silver Bear Awards for Best Director and Best Actress at Berlinale 2015. Sophie Scholl has received three Lolas (German Oscars) including the Audience Award and Best Actress Award to Jentsch for her brilliant characterization of the title role. The film tells the story of the many migrants rescued and of Catia Pellegrino, the first woman to command an Italian navy vessel. It is early afternoon on the 11th of October 2013. Only a week earlier, another ramshackle boat packed with Libyan migrants had capsized just half a nautical mile from the entrance of Lampedusa harbour. It turned over three times before the sea swallowed it up. That Thursday 3 October, 194 corpses were recovered, an already exceptional body count that told only part of the story. On 11 October, the Italian navy announced the official figure of 366 victims with a further 20 missing presumed dead. It was one of the biggest disasters in the Mediterranean’s long history.

Once every four years, the International Deaf Olympics, or Deaflympics, are held for athletes with hearing disabilities. This documentary follows Japan's first deaf women's soccer team to compete in the games. Hailing from different professions and age brackets, the women band together in preparation for the match. Making a name for themselves, however, is no easy task. Learning from their experiences, they move forward with a positive attitude.

The film was screened at the 2010 Taiwan International Documentary Festival and Russia's International Disability Film Festival, "Breaking Down Barriers."

Several years after leaving the orphanage, Gabrielle Chanel finds herself working in a provincial bar. She is both a seamstress for the performers and a singer, earning the nickname “Coco” from the song she sings nightly with her sister. A liaison with Baron Balsan gives her an entrée into French society and a chance to develop her gift for designing increasingly popular hats. When she falls in love with the English business-man, Arthur Capel, further opportunities open up, though life becomes ever more complicated. The film tells the story of Coco Chanel's rise from obscure beginnings to the heights of the fashion world.

In 2010, the movie won the César Award for Best Costumes and the Étoiles D'or du Cinéma Français for Best Film Composer. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Costume Designers in 2010 and won an award for Best Foreign Language Film at the Oklahoma Film Critics Circle Awards.
