ASSIGNMENT QUESTION

English is an international language. It is widely taught in many countries as second or

foreign language. However, many ESL and EFL learners who use English for academic and

social purposes cannot write without mistakes.

Your task is to analyse ESL students’ essays (preferably secondary school students).

You are required to:

i) Collect at least 30 sample essays from students,

ii) Mark the essay and identify the errors, and

iii) Describe the errors and explain why the identified errors are made.

The explanation of error analysis is available in Topic 7 of your course module.

Refer to the guidelines provided in the rubrics given below on the expected assignment

content and also the basis for which marks are to be awarded for the report.
