    Procedure Remarks

    Introduction

    ( 5 minutes )

    1. Teacher recalls pupils prior knowledge by asking

them 2 or 3 questions regarding to the prior

    lesson.

For example, what is the multiplication sentence

    for 3 + 3 + 3+ 3?

    2. Pupils give appropriate respond or answers

    Lesson

    Development

    (50 minutes)

    Whole class activity (20 minutes)

    1. Teacher pastes the picture cards on the

blackboard by following the sequence shown as

    below.

    For example,

    2. While pasting the pictures, the pupils are asked to

examine the pattern formed when more and more

    pictures are pasted up.

    3. Then, the teacher will guide the pupils to discover

    the pattern formed.

    4. 2 or 3 examples of multiplication sentences are

listed out beside each row of pictures pasted on

    the blackboard as below:

    = =

    6. Few pupils are asked to paste the words cards or

multiplication cards on the blackboard beside the

    correct pictures shown.

    8. Standard written method will later on be

introduced and taught to the pupils.

    For example, 4 x 3 = 12

    1. Pupils will complete worksheet as class practice.

    1. The teacher will give some simple quiz on the

blackboard and randomly pick few pupils

    answering the questions.

    Appendix 2: Arrange The Straw!

Materials: Multiplication flash cards (1 set), 40 cut straws ( 5 sets) , paper cup ( 30 cups)

    Procedures:

    1. The pupils are divided into 4 or 5 persons per group.

    2. Each group is given 1 set of cut straws and 5 paper cups.

    3. Teacher will show a multiplication flash card.

    For example,

    4. Then, pupils will work together as a group to arrange out the number patterns by

putting the cut straws into the paper cups.

    For example,

    5. After finish arranging the cut straws, all the group members hand up their hands to

show that they have done it.

    6. The first group completes the arrangement for multiplication flash card and say out

the product of the multiplication flash card correctly will gain one point.

    7. Step 3 to 5 will be repeated for 3 or 4 rounds for different multiplication flash cards.

    Reflection:

    (a) Strength:

y The concrete manipulative such as picture cards, straws, cups helped the pupils to

foster their understanding on multiplication concept and learn the how to find the

    product of a multiplication sentence.

y The little presents (folded stars) as compliment for the pupils good behaviours and

good work in the class motivated pupils learning for the lessons taught in the

    classroom.

y Pupils attracted by the interesting group activity and gave full participation for the

    group activity.

    (b) Weakness:y Some pupils enable listened my instructions or teaching because of the heavy rain

    outside the classroom.

y Got 1 or 2 pupils were shy and scare to participate in whole-class or group activity.

    (c) Ways of Improvement

y Try to speak louder so that the pupils would not be distracted by the heavy rain

    outside the classroom.

y Give encouragement and support for pupils who shy and scare in carrying the

    activities in the class.
