On Wednesday, 1 August pledging started for the Santa Shoebox project. This year, the school will commit to 32 boxes in total! Class 8 supports this project through their Afrikaans lesson “Ons gemeenskap - Ons gee om” (Our community - We care) and will be responsible to fill 18 of the boxes. The Primary school classes will each be responsible to fill 2 boxes, 14 in total. We as a community can help them to reach their goal. We therefore ask for DONATIONS of the following:
• Soap
• Facecloth
• Toothbrush
• Toothpaste A donation box will be placed in the Lucky Bean and in the foyer with Althea where you can deposit your contributions or you can contact Leen Van Roey (see below for contact details) if you have bigger contributions to make. If you feel like contributing an extra box as a family, please do so. You can register yourself on the Santa Shoebox Project Website: http://santashoebox.org.za where you will find more information. If you have any questions, suggestions or want to hear more, don’t hesitate to contact Leen Van Roey on 0722134009 or via email: [email protected]

SPORTS UPDATE
FOOTBALL Our football team played Paul Roos Gymnasium recently. We sent two teams - an under 15 team and an under 16 team. The first game was played by the u/15’s who had a very entertaining game that was 2-1 at half time in favour of SWS. The match ended 5-2 with our boys proving too strong for PRG. The second game, that started later, also included a couple of the u/15 boys. It started off in lightning fashion with our boys scoring two goals inside the first 5 minutes. The game continued in that very fast pace filled with action, with the PRG u/16 boys chasing the two goals they were behind by. However, they could not find the back of the net, and eventually ran out of steam and then conceded a further two goals towards the end of the game. SWS won the u/16 encounter 4-0. NETBALL Our netball girls visited Mfuleni High School, on the outskirts of Kuils River. With three regular players unavailable for the match, the girls were able to find able replacement players in Sthembiso Sibanda and Jadyn De Mink both in Class 8. In a very tough first half that was tied at 2-2, our girls eventually tired and conceded 8 unanswered points in the second half to lose 10-2. VOLLEYBALL The Volleyball team hosted Mfuleni High School, on our volleyball field next to the Coral Tree. Our visitors were very excited by our school and the setting of our school, and were almost surprised by our team. The first set was very closely contested as Mfuleni HS was still enjoying our very scenic campus, but eventually won the set 25-19. The second set was less of a contest as Mfuleni HS raced to a 5-0 lead. Waldorf, in true Waldorf spirit, fought back to catch up 5-8 but could not fight all the way and lost the set 25-15. The third set was SWS’s best as they led 10-6 but Mfuleni HS fought back and took the match to deuce at 14-14 and then serve for the set winning 16-14, thus winning the three set match 3-0. WELL DONE to our teams and well played this week. Good luck for their next fixtures! Next Fixtures: Monday 6 August Volleyball Team vs Western Cape Sports School (Home) Tuesday 7 August Netball Team vs Bridgehouse College (Away) Wednesday 8 August Netball Team vs Makapula High School (Kayamandi Sports Fields) Football Team vs Makapula High School (Kayamandi Sports Fields)

INVITATION and INTRODUCTION to the second season of
Jonathan Code workshops for personal and professional development
27th
September - 13th
October 2018
(Jonathan Code M.Ed - Social and Environmental Education, Coventry University, UK)
These courses are aimed at those persons with an interest in plants, gardening, herbalism, biodynamics, western esoteric
traditions, integrative education and anyone interested in world wisdom traditions.
Jonathan's research and work crosses all the disciplines including plant alchemy, medicinal herbs, social development, plant phenomenology and holistic science through a practice based approached. He is Director of Crossfields Institute International and runs the Master’s degree in Agroecology (researchingagroecology.org.uk) for Biodynamic Agriculture, Permaculture and other approaches. Jonathan is associated with the South African Biodynamic 2-year land based accredited training. He is a regular speaker at Waldorf Teachers conferences and is author of book Muck and Mind – Encountering Biodynamic Agriculture (Lindisfarne press) The workshops Jonathan will be presenting arise from over a decade of his work in social and environmental education (Ruskin Mills) and continue to develop out of ongoing research into the synthesis of science, art and contemplative practice as a basis for education and social renewal. WORKSHOPS and EVENTS: Bloublommetjieskloof Farm, Wellington:

J. Code: “In summary my work is deeply inspired by
anthroposophy and informed by the study of Dr. R. Steiner and
others, but I am at a point in my work where I want to bring
the themes of education, biodynamics and alchemy into a
broad context.”
We sense that what Jonathan brings will give us a physical, practical experience that will expand each persons' perception of the alchemical marriage of the inner and outer worlds. Costing is being finalised. It is our aim to bring this learning to all who are called to invest in their own development.
For initial expression of interest and bookings, please contact
