    USING CAD FILES:

Reference the file names, and helpful hints, through the Dorner 2D CAD Library. You can down loadthe files, off of the CD, through the 2D CAD Library (see 2D CAD Library Instructions on previouspage) or access them directly off of the CD. Note: Pictures on 2D CAD Library pages are simplifieddrawings only and do not represent all files. Click on a files description for a detailed file preview.

The files have been drawn with ease of use in mind. The conveyors and most of the conveyocomponents have top, side and end views.

The conveyor should be the first object inserted in the drawing. Most of the components will use the

center of the conveyor spindle (unless otherwise stated) as a point of reference for insertion as shownbelow. For your convenience, insertion points are shown in this manual as *.

Once you have the conveyor drawing open, the next items to insert into the drawing are the profiles, followed by gearmotor mounting packages, mounting brackets (if needed) and any desiredaccessories. Your next step is to explode all files (inserted as blocks) in the drawing. If you do noneed all three views of the conveyor, you should delete the unwanted views now, along with anyundesired dimensions, text or charts. Now you can stretch the conveyor to the size you need

Conveyors should be stretched to standard sizes, given in the accompanying charts. Finally, you caninsert the stands. If you need to stretch the stands to a wider size, do not insert the stand drawingonto the conveyor. Insert the stands off to the side of the drawing, stretch to the correct width (asshown in the size charts), then move the stands into place on the conveyor. Stands can be stretchedto the correct height on the conveyor.

Although all efforts have been made to insure accuracy in the material, Dorner Mfg. Corp. assumesno liability for its use or accuracy.

    EXAMPLES:

The following is a step-by-step example of how to put a conveyor together. You will notice helpfuhints and explanations throughout the examples section.

First, you will need to decide what type of conveyor you need. Choose from our 2200, MPB, 32004100, 6200, 7200, 7300, 7400 Series, Gravity Roller, and LPZ conveyors. Once you have theconveyor drawing open, you can insert other conveyor components. Size charts are provided withineach conveyor file.

    INSERT PROFILES:

Profiles snap to the left side of the conveyors end view or pulley center.

    INSERT MOUNTING BRACKETS:

Mounting brackets snap to the right sideof the conveyors side view at pulley center.

Once the mounting brackets have been inserted, you will need to copy the top and side views over foradditional supports.

    INSERT ACCESSORIES:

Now insert any additional accessories into the drawing. Once you have the components inserted intothe drawing you should explode all blocks (files are inserted as blocks). You can now delete anyunwanted views, dimensions, text and charts.

    STRETCH:

Your next step is to stretch the conveyor to the standard size you need. The following is a basicexample of where to stretch a conveyor. Stretch lines are given to show the best point to stretch theconveyor from. Refer to our size chart accompanying the conveyors, or corresponding conveyorspecifications and ordering catalog for standard sizes. Exceptions to this way of stretching do applyfor cleated conveyors and LPZ conveyors. Explanations of those differences will follow.

Some clean up work may apply after you stretch a conveyor. Center points will need to be deleted orepositioned, some hidden lines may now not be hidden or vise versa, etc.

    STRETCHING A CLEATED CONVEYOR:

To ease in the conveyor stretching process, cleats are on a separate layer from the rest of theconveyor. 2200, MPB, 3200, 6200, 7200, 7300, 7400 Series, and LPZ conveyor cleats are on a layercalled cleats. To make stretching easier we recommend that you turn off or lock layer cleats whilestretching the length of the conveyor. Once you have the conveyor at the correct length, turn on ounlock layer cleats and adjust the number of cleats. If you lengthened the conveyor, copy cleats asrequired or delete excess cleats if you shortened the conveyor.

    STRETCHING AN LPZ CONVEYOR:

Stretching an LPZ conveyor is different because the individual lengths of the conveyor sections are atdifferent angles. To make this process easier, each conveyor section is on its own layer. The layersfrom left of the conveyor to the right are layer #1, #2, and #3.

The following example is for use with AutoCAD commands, other CAD systems may vary.

When stretching individual sections of a conveyor that are at an angle (all LPZ lengths are pre-set atan angle of 30 degrees), you can use the following process. Type in the command stretch, selectthe objects to be stretched, select a base point, then type in @ the length in inches you want tostretch the conveyor followed by < the angle of the conveyor. Example: To stretch a conveyor 12inches at 30 degrees type @12

    INSERT STANDS:

The final step is to insert stands.

Stands snap to the bottom of the mounting bracket on the side view of the conveyor.

You will want to insert the stands off to the side of the drawing at first. Some of the stand drawingshave multiple choices for different height options. Explode the file, choose which option best suitsyour needs, and delete the other options. You will also want to stretch the stands to the correct width

before you move them onto the conveyor. Please refer to the stand height and width chart thaaccompanies the stand drawing. Once you have the stand to the standard size you can move it intoplace.

Note: Some gearmotor mounting packages require support stands to mount under the drive packageThese gearmotor mounting packages are marked and noted throughout the 2D CAD Library.
