RAPIDKL U623 BUSThis bus runs from the Kelana Jaya LRT Station to Sunway area via the LDP. You should alight at the bus stop at Jalan PJS 7/8, PJS7 and take a 5-min walk to the campus pedestrian gate. To return to Kelana Jaya, the bus will run pass Subang Jaya before heading back to Kelana Jaya LRT station via Federal Highway. (Please refer to the bus route covering the RapidKL U623)

*Note :For those taking RapidKL U623 Bus, you need a Pedestrian Access Card to enter the Campus.Please refer page 14 point 2 for details.

The list below provides information about all the events that are taking place throughout your Orientation with us.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT REPORTING– Where do we go upon arrival in MalaysiaFriday, 22 Aug 1200Monday, 25 Aug 1200Tuesday, 26 Aug 1200

All airport pick-ups for international students are managed by the International Office. Students are required to log in their arrival details online via the new pre-boarding system. The link for this new pre-boarding system can be found here: http://studentcentral.taylors.edu.my/eServiceRequest/PreBoarding/_layouts/aq/preboarding/pbchecklist.aspx All requests for airport pick-ups must be logged in at least five (5) calendar days before the date and time of arrival. Any requests made after this shall be automatically rejected and you shall have to make your own way to Taylor’s University.

Airport pick-ups can be arranged at the following airports: (i) Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA)(ii) Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) (iii) Subang Skypark Terminal

Pick-ups are available on weekdays between 1000 hours and 1800 hours (Malaysian Time). Students are advised to avoid arrival on a public holiday.

All airport pick-ups will transfer you from the airport to Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus. You will be assisted with reporting to the International O�ce before you are taken to the Taylor’s Hostel Management O�ce to sort out your accommodation.

WELCOME RECEPTIONFriday, 22 Aug at 1430Friday, 29 Aug at 1530Organised by International Student Services (ISS), all new international students are required to attend the Welcome Reception also known as the International Student Briefing during the Pre-Orientation Week.The briefing will include:i) Ice-Breaking Activitiesii) Cultural Awarenessiii) International Student Council and Clubsiv) International Student Insurance Scheme and Medical Health Coverv) Visa Endorsement and Renewal Matters

WELCOME PARTYFriday, 22 Aug at 1700At the end of the Welcome Reception, ISS together with the International Student Council and Best Buddies Leaders throw a Welcome Party for all participating new international students. The idea is to get to know one another better and embrace the cultural diversity of student intake. This is a time to let your hair down, enjoy some games and dance, sample local and international delicacies and get acquainted with other international students.

TAYLOR’S UNIVERSITY ORIENTATIONMonday, 25 Aug at 0830Taylor’s Orientation Week is the most effective first step towards transitioning students into University campus life with enriching experiences. New students are formally welcome by the Taylor’s University Vice-Chancellor and President, Deans and Vice-President of the Student Experience Division. Under the Student Experience Division, students can look forward to learning more about the Student Central, Bursary and Financial Aid, Career Services Centre, Global Mobility O�ce, Counseling and Psychological Services Centre, Health Services Centre, Student Development Hub, Sports and Recreations Centre, International Student Services and International Office. In addition, students are able to acquire critical information on the services provided by Library, ICT, e-Learning Academy and Student Success Centre (SSC). The Shine Award Centre will be sharing about the Second Transcript which will give students the cutting edge and enhancement of employability upon their graduation. The Taylor’s University Student Council (TUSC) will also welcome new students and share about their roles in supporting campus-wide reach out and activities.

ORIENTATION HELPDESKOur staff members are here to answer any enquiries relating to your Orientation. Just approach the sta� or Student Ambassadors at Counter 1 or 2 at Student Central for assistance!

STUDENT IDMonday, 25 Aug at 1200All students are required to have their digital photo taken for Student ID printing. You can take your digital photo at Student Central by presenting your original payment receipt (full-payment for the 1st Semester). Your Student ID will be ready for collection after 24 hours on weekdays.

TYPHOID INOCULATIONMonday, 25 Aug at 0900It is compulsory for all students under the Hospitality, Culinary Arts and Bachelor of Science in Culinology to take the Typhoid Inoculation. Students can receive the Typhoid injection at Kumpulan Medic Clinic located at Syopz, The Boardwalk, Level 1.

UNIFORM COLLECTIONMonday, 25 Aug at 1430This is applicable to students under the School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts programme. Uniform measurement and collection is at Taylor’s Merchandize Shop located at the Syopz, The Boardwalk. Level 1. Students have to present the receipt showing their uniform purchase during collection from Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm only.

CAMPUS HUNTTuesday, 26 Aug at 1400The adrenalin pumping self-navigated Campus Hunt is organized by Taylor’s University Orientation Leaders to help new students be familiarized with the key location and support services of various student-oriented departments. Every station is in-fused with fun and exciting games and students are required to work in a group to solve di�erent round of challenges which promotes integration, team work and critical thinking. Please come attired in your sport shoes/flats and pants.

PERSONAL SAFETY AWARENESS AND ACTION WORKSHOPMonday, 25 Aug at 1400All students are advised to attend this workshop where they will learn how to avoid being a victim of crime and Self-defense. During this workshop, di�erent technics and tips will be demonstrated on how to defend oneself. This workshop is also compulsory for all in order for students to collect their Student ID using Taylor’s Freshman Card provided.

ACADEMIC BRIEFINGTuesday, 26 Aug at 0900Students under the respective programme will be briefed on the followings: 1) Academic Calendar2) Timetable3) Programme Structure4) Modules registration, add/drop and withdrawal procedures5) Progression rules and termination and other academic related matters. Take this opportunity to get to know your Faculty Members too!

CLUBS AND SOCIETIES DAY Monday, 27 Aug at 1130Clubs and Societies Day is an avenue for new students to join any Clubs and Societies of their choice ranging from community centric, business and entrepreneurship, performing arts, spiritual connectivity, cultural, public speaking, special interests, sports and international clubs and societies. There are more than 50 over clubs and societies participating in Clubs and Societies Recruitment Drive to engage with new students through showcase of clubs, activities and performances. You can even form your new Club if you are unable to find one that matches your interest.

ORIENTATION PARTYMonday, 27 Aug at 1730The Orientation Party is a themed party organized by the Taylor’s University Orientation Leaders to welcome and celebrate new students as they enter into University life. Exhilarating games are in placed to encourage students to get to know one another, integrate and have fun with exciting prizes up for grab. There are various performances showcased by Clubs and Societies and many other in-house talents adding flavor to the event. Sumptuous refreshments are provided!

KL FUN TRIPSaturday, 30 Aug at 1000The Kuala Lumpur Familiarization Trip aims to help students to get to know more about the local transportation system, the local delicacies and the uniqueness of our urban city.The Kuala Lumpur Familiarization Trip will include:

i) KL Sentral - an intermodal transportation hub to most of Kuala Lumpur's passenger rail lines as well as an intercity train station between Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore.ii) KLCC (Petronas Twin Towers) – One of Malaysia’s iconic landmarks.

STUDENT PASS AND VISAInternational students who wish to pursue their study in Taylor’s University must obtain a student pass and visa, a requirement by the Malaysian Immigration Department.

From 1st February 2013, all international students intending to pursue a programme of study at any higher education institution in Malaysia shall have their Student Pass applications process by a new agency known as Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS).

SINGLE ENTRY VISAOnce the Student Pass and Visa Approval Letter (VAL) is issued, all international students MUST obtain a Single Entry Visa to enter Malaysia from their nearest Malaysian High Commission / Malaysian Embassy / Consulate.

Upon Arrival Once the application of the Student Pass is successful, a Visa Approval Letter (VAL) will be issued. Students are required to bring this VAL with them when they travel to Malaysia. The VAL must be presented to the immigration o�cer at the airport upon arrival.

Submission of signed Letter of Acceptance d. Presentation of O�cial receiptse. Submission of signed copy: Policies and Regulations for International students

It is mandatory requirement that students will need to undergo a Medical Health Examination within 3 working days upon arriving in Malaysia, by a medical/health clinic designated by EMGS.

The Student Pass Endorsement is the final step in completing the process for obtaining a Student Pass for international students. It confirms and seals your status as an international student in Malaysia.

ACCOMMODATIONThere are 4 options for accommodation you may consider:

1. On-campus accommodationU Residence is the hostel accommodation that is located at Taylor’s Lakeside Campus, and managed by the Taylor’s Hostel Management Sdn Bhd.

2. O�-campus accommodationO�-campus accommodation is located outside of Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus, and managed by the Taylor’s Hostel Management Sdn Bhd. This may mean having to commute to the campus via public or private transport in order to attend classes or activities.

1. STUDENT IDIt is very important to have your Student ID with you and displayed at all times when you are on campus. Students are required to present original payment receipt (full-payment for the 1st Semester) to the Student Advisor @ Student Central Counter (Block A, Level 2) to take a digital picture for the Student ID.

2. PEDESTRIAN ACCESS CARDIf you are staying in PJS 7 area or taking the RapidKL Bus U623 to Lakeside Campus, you may apply for a pedestrian access card to gain access to the campus via the pedestrian gate. To apply for one, please email ([email protected]) to the Student Advisor @ Student Central for advice.

3. PARKING SYSTEM IN LAKESIDEFree parking bays are available at Zone H and Zone I in Lakeside Campus. Parking fee of RM3 per entry is applicable to Zone J and basement parking at the Boardwalk. The parking facility is on a first-come, first-served basis. Please look for alternative sites if all the parking bays are taken up.

4. COMMUTING TO LAKESIDE CAMPUSStudents may commute to Taylor’s Lakeside campus using public transportation such as KTM Kommuter (Sentul – Port Klang Line), LRT (Kelana Jaya Line), Rapid KL U623 bus (from Kelana Jaya) or using the Taylor’s shuttle buses.

5. DRESS CODE POLICY Students must dress neatly with clean attire at all times. Students are advised to be mindful of the cultural sensitivities of others and the academic environment.

6. SMOKE-FREE CAMPUS ENVIRONMENT Smoking is not permitted on Taylor’s University grounds which are clearly separated from the Commercial Block (The Boardwalk) by the demarcation stickers. Students found smoking on the University grounds will face the below consequences:

First-time o�enders will be given a verbal warning and their details will be recorded in a database by Student Central.

For a second o�ence, the student will be fined RM50 and receive a warning letter from the University.

If a third o�ence is committed, the student will be fined RM100 and be subjected to disciplinary action with possible suspension.
