Dear Parents, Congratulations Miss McGill On behalf of the Pinewood Primary School community I would like to pass on our best wishes to Alyssia McGill and her partner Scott for a very happy wedding day tomorrow (Friday). The students in Miss McGill’s class surprised her on Wednesday morning with a ‘pre wedding’ party to celebrate the upcoming event!

Channel Ten Weatherman Visit Next Monday 27 November, Mike Larkin and the Channel 10 weather crew will be broadcasting a live weather report from Pinewood PS as part of the evening Channel 10 news presentation. The school has been asked to have a theme for the broadcast, thus we have decided to keep our theme in support of our brave student, Georgia, who continues her ongoing medical treatment for cancer. We ask that students wear their school uniform and a beanie, hat or wig (parents attending the filming are also encouraged to join in the fun and wear a beanie, hat or wig) in our ongoing support of Georgia.

If students would like to participate in the filming they are required to be at the school at 5pm, ready for a rehearsal at 5.15 pm. and then the main weather report broadcast at 5.55 pm (students must be accompanied by an adult during the event). We are hoping to see as many people here as possible. Well done Patrick (in Year 6) for inspiring the Channel 10 news team to present their evening weather broadcast from Pinewood Primary School.

2018 Prep Parent Information Session Next Tuesday, 28 November, at 7.00pm, we will be conducting a parent information evening for our new Prep student families. The meeting will take place in the Prep, Flexible Learning Space.

Emergency Evacuation Drill On Thursday, 30 November, we will be conducting our annual whole school, off-site, Emergency Evacuation Drill. The students will be walking to the Pinewood Reserve under teacher supervision and then returning to school in time for lunch. Last week, a letter was sent to all families providing information about the drill.

Healthy Eating Policy Pinewood Primary School is committed to a whole school approach to healthy eating. This is in line with the nutrition policies and guidelines for schools developed by the Department of Education and Training (DET) – “School Canteens and Other School Food Services” policy.

The School Council has now ratified the Pinewood P.S. Healthy Eating Policy. I have attached a copy of the Healthy Eating Policy to the newsletter. The policy is also available on our school website.

Healthy eating covers all situations where food and drink is supplied in the school

environment including: school excursions, school camps, fundraising events,

school activities such as celebrations and sports days, and food used in curriculum

activities.

World Teacher’s Day Lunch! The Pinewod Parent Community put on an amazing lunch for the Staff and Teachers at Pinewood a couple of weeks ago and we would just like to thank the following parents for the wondeful dishes they made to show their appreciation:
