The 2 stories That Stuck out the most for me were, when the Girl Drove 5 long HOURSout of town to be with her Boyfriend after his Dad had Passed; (Priceless) ! 2nd, Wasthe Girl who Spent 3 Hours getting Ready for their Date, Car Had a Flat tire in the Rain,She Puts on a hoodie and holds the Flash lite just for him to see;.That Sealed the deal,and he should have asked her to marry him the Next Day. No Questions !

This describes me and my husband. 34 years and going strong. I am still in love withhim. Sure we have had plenty of challenges along the way, but this man is my soul matefor life and he tells me everyday he feels the same. We have learned the art offorgiveness and compromise. Nothing worth having is easy. A word of advice to newlymarrieds...if you are determined to win every battle, you will lose your marriage. We got married at 18 & 22. I was his first girlfriend, he was my firstboyfriend. Same warped sense of humor, same basic background (largefamilies, fathers working 3 jobs to pay the bills when first married, etc.). Wewere best friends. We just celebrated our 32 wedding anniversary and have5 grown kids. Having a good sense of humor is vital. And instead of pattingyourself on the back for putting up with their imperfections, thanking Godevery day that they put up with yours!

In my case - she had been 'right under my nose' for a while. We both worked in thesame laboratory for about a year. Was working on my PhD, she was College Juniorwhen she started working there. I was dating somebody very seriously - she wasengaged to a former High School boyfriend and we just spent waaayyy too much timedrinking waaaayy too much coffee and working late into the night together. At somepoint she ended her engagement as it wasn't going to work out, and my then mygirlfriend moved on,....

We started dating a few months later one Summer because - well we spent all our timetogether anyway and got along,....

I figured out she was 'the one' at a Halloween party later that year - she claims shefigured it out a few weeks earlier but was waiting for me to figure it out,.... She was thecutest 'Pirate' I had ever seen and that was apparently 'It' for me.

That was about 22 years ago,.... our 20th Anniversary is this October,.....

Life is a gamble, dating is a numbers game, and 'the one' is only a reality after the fact(ask anyone who has been married more than once, I'm sure they thought the first onewas 'the one' when they decided to get married). I got lucky on my second try (we'vebeen married now for 38 years), but it was long search, with a lot of false starts. But thekey is to stay in the game and to use each 'not the one' as a learning experience (bothabout the other person and about yourself) so that when 'the one' does come along,you will know it.

Rush Ramanee, women quietly and sometimes not-so-quietly "decide" onmarriage all the time, often way before the man - and are shot down waymore often, way before it even comes to a proposal. Yes, it is "ALWAYS"(usually) the guy who makes the final decision, because women tend to beannoyingly (apparently) more pro-marriage than men - so the latter calls theshots if anything is to happen. I'm sorry if your experience has beendifferent, and I don't believe anyone is unscathed after a marriage - but untilwomen are paid the same as men for the same work and are rejected fromcommitted relationships as or less often than men, they will always receivemore sympathy following divorce.
