Commonwealth Day celebrated in the MYP library
Past should not be forgotten as a rule and rich harvests of educational and economic
advantages may be reaped, if links with the posterity can be preserved. Nothing can be truer in
this context than the formation and continued functioning of "Commonwealth of Nations”. Countries and
territories freed from the British governance continued to remain united as sovereign states but closely
cooperating in fields of education, human rights, sports and economic progress under the flag of
"Commonwealth of Nations" and 15th March each year is celebrated in all the Commonwealth countries the
world all over. To increase the awareness of the children of the children and promote the concepts of mutual
cooperation, Commonwealth Day was celebrated in MYP library. Students of grade 6 and 7A participated and
researched on the topic which included details of its member countries, motto, origin and purpose, and its
future. A quiz was also organized in which all the children participated and shared the information found with
their friends to answer maximum questions individually. It was fun and learning at the same time.

International School Awards
O n 10 March, 2016, Grade 9 students embarked on a trip to The lively, educative
Film City, Goregaon where we visited the shooting sets of Udaan, a daily soap that is aired
on Colors T.V. En route, we chirruped our excitement into lively chatter as we made our way by bus. Once
we jumped out in eager joy, we met our guide, Mr. Anil who showed us the way to the beautiful set, where we
met the beautiful Meera Deosthale, who stars as Chakor, the heroine of Udaan! We learned that the sets are
created with plaster, metal bits and wood material. We met the creative Director, Mr. Choksey who graciously
and patiently answered all our queries and also took us around. We also met Sai Ballal, who plays Kamal
Narayan Rajvanshi or, Bhaiyaji, the main villain of the story. We met actors who play other main characters. We
took photographs with them. A few of us took autographs. We also saw Chakor’s family home and witnessed a
live shooting!
We were exceptionally behaved in a way that, as a treat, we were taken to Starbucks! I insisted that my
Frappuccino should be with soy milk as, soy milk is delicious. We returned to school that very day with
overjoyed smiles and mind refreshed. We enjoyed the trip very much and thank our teachers for taking us
there. We wish for similar trips in the future.

Greek Mythology Script Writing Assignment
O n 11 March, 2016, students of Grade 9 performed plays improvised from Greek
mythological stories. We were put into groups of 5 each and each group chose a different
story or part of a story to form their script. We worked hard for a week and chose a story, then turned it
into a script. We later decided on roles for each of us. We practiced our lines and actions before the fateful day.
This process took a few weeks, as we were hindered by a few events on weekdays and weekends.
On our day of judgement, we fell into a few issues here and there as some of our members were absent. We still
managed to perform it in front of our fellow classmates. The stories were so fascinating and exciting as each of
them had mega wars, Gods and superheroes and beautiful ladies as characters. Every character we represented
had unique and individualistic personalities. Like, how helpless Danae suffered in her bronze prison for years,
how winter was a result of Demeter being separated from her daughter and how a plan was devised between
soldiers. The activity was fun and creative at the same time. We enjoyed it greatly and wish for similar activities
in the future also.

Fun with Food fiesta - Grade 6 & 8
T he Food Fiesta was not an easy programme to arrange. There was a lot of buzz and
excitement surrounding it. We went through weeks of planning. Despite this, we ran helter
skelter at the eleventh hour, organizing and making the activity perfect.
Our class made over Rs. 7000 in total. We divided ourselves into three groups, each group focusing on cuisines
from one region. So, we had Italian, Mexican and Indian cuisines on display. We sold our food and made
profits. We also had a counter that sold bead jewellery. Though we were skeptical of the sale here, all the
pieces of jewellery were sold out in less than an hour’s time. We gave away the entire proceeds to charity. We
bargained and jostled with the buyers, only to gain in friendship and trust. This became our CAS activity as well.
Every part of this activity, from selection of the cuisine and the menu to the cost and the posters, required a lot
of creativity and imagination and brought out the best in us. I had lots of fun and I look forward to next year’s

An informative and entertaining morning assembly program!
Students from Grade 7 hosted the weekly school assembly on 15 Mar 2016. Our grade
thoroughly enjoyed the skits that were coherent and caught our attention. The way the teachers had
trained the student-actors was truly remarkable. The video was also different and on how lethargic people
in today's world are was an eye opener too! After the presentation, our Vice Principal Ms. Sagareeka Bhatia
explained the importance of DRY HOLI CELEBRATIONS to us and its pressing need this year. I am sure that all of
us have grown more conscious on saving water for the coming years. We pledge to save water!
- Aakash Rakhasiya - Mahek Sewani Grade 10
Our Grade 7 seniors’ assembly program had a string of messages for us! They had many topics focusing on
global warming, water shortage and greenhouse gasses.
At the beginning, they took off with a skit on global warming and then presented another one on bullying,
school rules & regulations. This was followed by one more skit where a woodcutter only thought of cutting down
trees for business. Some others made him understand the usefulness of tress in their role in helping in the war
against global warming.
They concluded their assembly program by singing “We’re not gonna take it”.
Thank you for such an informative and entertaining morning assembly program!

Graduation 2016
G raduation Day is, in simple words, the day of graduating or receiving an
academic degree upon completion of one's studies. However, for our DP2 students it
was a day when they bid farewell to the teachers who molded them and shaped them into the individuals
they are today. It was a day they let go of the strong grip on the friendly bonds made with their classmates.
Graduating high school is one of the fondest memories, a teenager can gather. Our students accomplished this
on 11th March, 2016. The day started out with the DP 1’s scattering around the auditorium with final touches
and last minute add-ons as they bid farewell to their lovable role models, who were more like friends.
The students started to enter, all decked up, looking suave and dignified. Parents, wearing a proud smile, started
to occupy the first row to be as close as possible.
The ceremony started with the students walking in adorned with their graduation caps and gowns. Accompanied
by their homeroom teachers, Rashmi Ma’am and Shivangi Ma’am, the graduating students walk in to the rhythm
of the music. They walked elegantly amongst the commotion of cheers and claps and occupied their seat.
To send the graduating students for a walk down memory lane, they were shown a special video made by their
juniors. This lead to a few tears streaming down the student’s faces.
We soon realized, the tears become a permanent feature on every one’s face. Dristi and Mardav reminisced
every memory shared in their speeches, reminding everyone about the fond memories shared. The day ended
with the graduating students walking solemnly towards the center, elegantly garbed in their robes and tassels
and tossed their caps off, towards a new beginning.
