Many programs and students dont yet have a good sense of all the technology skills that are coming into play in the workplaces students plan to enterCenter for Public Education: Defining a 21st Century EducationThe internet is a go-to source. In general, more people turn to the internet (at home, work, libraries or other places) than any other source of information and support, including experts and family members. There was some variance in the results, depending on the type of problem people faced. Experts mattered most when people faced health problems; government agencies topped the list when information about specific programs was the concernThe evidence is growing that despite familiarity with personal technologies, learners are generally poor at deploying their digital skills in support of learning. They lack critical media and information literacies, and struggle to translate the capabilities they do have into different contexts.Information/Resourceshttp://webtools4u2use.wikispaces.com/Curation+Toolswebsites, blogs, wikis, tweets, videos, podcasts, images, ebooks, databases, slideshows, graphics, reports, articles, illustrations, clipart

It is an open secret that colleges, universities and employers love to scan the Facebook profiles of applicants. A recent article on Mashable gives seven reasons why recruiters prefer to connect via Facebook and not LinkedIn. Not surprisingly, from the applicants perspective its exactly the opposite as they prefer to connect via LinkedIn and thus the dedicated network for business as they want to keep their private life private which is understandable in my opinion. http://bigthink.com/disrupt-education/facebook-profiles-are-the-new-resumeFacebook Jobs AppFacebook Social Jobs AppSocial Jobs Partnership

www.teachthought.com/culture/connected-learning-the-power-of-social-learning-models/Connected LearningEducation is what institutions do, learning is what people do. Digital media enable learning anywhere, anytime; formal learning must also be mobile and just-in-time. Learning happens best when it is rich in social connections, especially when it is peer-based and organized around learners interests, enabling them to create as well as consume information. In the digital age, the fundamental operating and delivery systems are networks, not institutions such as schools, which are one node of many on a young persons network of learning opportunities. People learn across institutions, so an entire learning network must be supported.
