Scott Hagler W HO COULD HAVE IMAGINED a year ago what life would be like these days? We find ourselves facing new challenges at every turn. But no matter what else is going on in our world, we need beauty in our lives. My new favorite quote, that has helped me through these days, comes from Terry Tempest Williams. She said in her book Finding Beauty in a Broken World, “Beauty is not optional; it is a strategy for survival.” 3rd Ave. Arts, along with our wonderful musicians, has been exploring how we will continue to create beauty, employ artists, and bring musical offerings to our community. Increased boundaries due to COVID have inspired unprece- dented creativity, so we are plowing ahead with confidence, courage, and trust that our amazing patrons will continue to support our work. We hope you’ll continue to purchase tickets to our virtual concerts this season, and consider making a donation. Our best bargain is our All-Event Season Pass for $200. FRI | OCT 9 | 7 PM Violinist Ching-Yi Lin and Violist Andrew Braddock Ching-Yi Lin and Andrew Braddock, both performers and educators at Western Kentucky University, will perform an eclectic concert fea-turing works by W. A. Mozart, Michael Alec Rose, Béla Bartók, Au-gusta Read Thomas, Hans Werner Henze and Bohuslav Jan Martinů.

FRI | NOV 20 | 7 PM Angela Winter, horn and Lancer Hardy, bass

Dr. Angela K. Winter (horn) and Senior Airman Lancer Hardy (bass) have put together an exciting concert program while sheltering in place together since March. The program includes a variety of works from the baroque, classical, and romantic periods as well as some adaptations and arrangements from modern Latin composers. It will also feature some unaccompanied pieces for solo horn and solo bass.
