We are committed to serve students that are culturally diverse and are united in the ultimate goal of academic excellence, while building future leaders. At Renaissance Poinciana we ensure a well-balanced scholar ready to take their place in this ever-changing world as a bi-cultural and bi-literate citizen. Our holistic approach to teaching the whole child includes various programs, curriculum and enrichment opportunities that include language, the arts, sciences and technology. DUAL LANGUAGE Students will learn in two languages: English and Spanish. The goal of the program is for children to be able to speak, read and write fluently in both languages by the end of 5th grade and continue in Middle School to be on track for the prestigious Seal of Biliteracy upon High School graduation. We strive to prepare our students to meet the educational and employment requirements of the future. Your child will have more opportunities in the United States and abroad if he/she is bilingual and biliterate. SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING THRU AIA Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Is the process through which children and adults acquire and effectively apply knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and mange emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships and make responsible decisions. Following the SEL outline designed by Attitude is Altitude (AIA) & Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL): The Five Core Competencies of Social and Emotional Learning 1. Self-Awareness, 2. Self-Management, 3. Responsible Decision-Making, 4. Relationship and 5. Social Awareness. STEM At Renaissance Charter School at Poinciana, our classrooms come alive with relevant, problem-based learning where 21st Century Skills are embedded through the use of technology, critical thinking, and collaboration to engage the heads, hearts and hands of students in authentic and real-world issues. Our scholars discover the excitement of learning STEM curriculum through Project Based Learning experiences connected to the real world. We believe children become global citizens by learning to think critically and creatively, work collaboratively, and apply what they are learning within extended projects. In addition to teaching the engineering design process and introducing the idea of STEM to students early in their education, this program reinforces skills learned in Math, ELA and Science. ART Students learn different art styles, find their own art style that is uniquely theirs and are immersed in diverse cultures through various art forms, participate in local/national art competitions, use design to create actual products and transition artistic skills into digital programs of the 21st century. In addition, students will act as a community artist to create large-scale murals of purpose and decorate their own school, giving them pride in their work and school spirit. MUSIC Students learn how to read music through different form, in a fun engaging way and develop new artistic skills that improve the quality of life for the future of the student. CLUBS: • Game Design Club: Students will be able to experience the design process of an ever-growing industry• Golden Apron Society: A merit-based club focusing on bettering the community through art• Paws: Art workshops are aimed to better a student’s already growing artistic talent. Students will come to the workshop with an objective in mind and the mentors will be there to guide them • Violin club: Student will be able to learn the instrument and play basic songs• Puma band: Be able to identify di�erent skill in the students to create a band• Puma choir: Student will be able to practices their voice skill in a fun manner• Piano club: Student will be able to learn how to play the piano and basic songs

21ST CENTURY LEARNING CENTER The mission of this program is to equip students with the necessary strategies and skills to be successful academically, socially, emotionally and physically through meeting the program objectives. This initiative is the only federally funded source dedicated exclusively to out-of-school-time programs. Our program supports student participants in meeting the State’s rigorous academic standards and is designed to align with State and school goals, speci�cally to assist targeted students in their school day learning objectives. The program aims at providing high-quality academic enrichment opportunities for students and meaningfully engage adult family members and community partners in helping our children succeed academically.
