YMCA MACCOLL ABOUT OUR CAMPThe MacColl YMCA is accredited by the American Camp Association and is located on 125 wooded acres, just off Route 146, in Lincoln, RI. As one of the larger day camps, MacColl YMCA services roughly 800 youths each summer ranging from ages 5-15 years old.

VALUES AND TRADITIONSAt MacColl YMCA we strive to provide day camp programs that are safe, supervised and age appropriate by creating positive relationships and stressing the importance of our core values: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

OUR STAFFOur program staff is composed of young adults in pursuit of undergraduate degrees in a variety of subjects including: youth development, human services, education, or recreation. In accordance with the Department of Children, Youth & Families (DCYF), our staff undergo state/federal background checks and fingerprinting; all are cleared by DCYF to work with children. Specialists including, Lifeguards and our Archery instructors have current certifications in their specialty. *All program staff are CPR/First Aid Certified.

MEET OUR CAMP DIRECTORSSteve Morse holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Southern New Hampshire University and is in pursuit of a Master’s Degree. Steve brings over six years of summer camp programming experiences. With a passion for youth and families, he has experience in case management, behavior management and programming. Bianca Silvestri is a Graduate of Rhode Island College with a Degree in Sociology and comes to us from the Greater Providence YMCA Kent County Branch located in Warwick. There she was a Youth Development Coordinator responsible for overseeing 4 different after school sites. She has more than 5 years’ experience as a director for summer camp and enjoys working outdoors. Bianca also likes to connect with community partners and agencies while serving on various committees. Please take the time to welcome Bianca to our YMCA family, we are happy to have her!

REGISTRATION INFORMATIONFees and Payments• A NON-REFUNDABLE $15 registration fee per camper is required at the

time of registration.• Payments are due in full at time of registration, unless a credit card or

draft agreement is in place as a payment plan.• All payments of applicable fees in a payment plan will be charged on the

Friday prior to the first day of the camp week. These fees are non-refundable.• Sibling discount of 15% is available for full time programs only. Not

available with financial assistance.• Camp weeks will not be prorated for any reason.

Financial Assistance• Applications can be picked up at the Membership Desk for families in

need. (Note: it will take 2-4 weeks to process)

Cancellation/Refund Policy• Registration fees are non-refundable/non-transferable.• Prior to June 1st, you may cancel camp in writing: If paid in full a refund

will be issued less the $15 registration fee.• After June 1st, Cancellations, changes and registrations must

be submitted the Friday 2 weeks before the start date. A $25 cancellation fee will apply each time a cancellation transaction is requested.

• Refunds are given for medical reasons when accompanied by a doctor’s note and clear evidence that the child could not participate.

• Requests for refund must be made by, August 23, 2019, the last day of camp.

Camp Drop Off & Pick Up• At the time of registration, parents are required to designate at least one

authorized individual, who is over the age of 18, to pick up your child.• Photo Identification must be presented at pick up.• Any changes to the pickup list must be made in person and in writing.• Phone calls will not be accepted to change your pick up list.• Sprouts and Care-A-Lot will be dropped off and picked up at the

Pavilion.• U-Go-To, Adventure, Trailblazers, Explorers, Pathfinder and LIT will be

dropped off and picked up at the red barn.• Families with children in both age groups can drop off at the Pavilion,

but pick up will be at both locations.

How to Register• Bring your registration form and payment to MacColl or Woonsocket’s

membership desk by the Wednesday prior to the week you would like to start.

• Mail your registration form and payment to the address located on the front page of the camp book. Must be received by the Friday 2 weeks before the start date.

• E-mail your registration to [email protected] by the Friday 2 weeks before the start date. Please put Camp Registration in the subject line. Payment must be authorized for the $15 registration fee in the e-mail. Attach the registration forms. A confirmation will be emailed upon acceptance.

• NOTE: If you mail or e-mail your registration, the Y cannot guarantee a spot in the camp you are registering for.

CAMP INFORMATIONCamp Weeks: Week 1-10 - June 17th - August 23rd

Hours: 6:30 am-5:45 pm • Camp Day Begins at 8:45am and Ends at 4pm; pre and post camp are

included in the price.• If you need a pick up prior to 4pm please fill out an early pick up slip

at drop off. Prior pick up will result in a wait time.• All campers must be dropped off by 10am. For travel camps, all campers

must be dropped off by 8am. We are unable to accommodate children arriving later.

Food: Children must bring a lunch daily, 2 snacks and a refillable water bottle ($5 will be charged for children without a lunch and $1 for a water bottle.) We offer the option to order hot lunch from Papa Gino’s daily. Orders can be placed at the time of drop off. Note: payment is due at the time of ordering.

Clothing: Sneakers only (no sandals, flip flops or open toed shoes)Jacket or sweatshirt for cooler days. 2 swimsuits, towel and sunscreen.

Travel Camps: Leave the grounds promptly at 9am on travel days and return by 4pm unless otherwise noted on their calendar. Water, lunch, snacks, and appropriate clothing required.

ARCHERY: In this station youth will learn fundamentals of archery including: safety, posture, shooting, and techniques.

Safety Around Water: All campers will participate in water safety skills taught by certified trained staff and are overseen by the aquatics director. Campers will be categorized by swim ability level and will be taught swimming skills, and safety around the water.

CHILL ZONE: Youth will have the option to participate in an organized game or “chill” with friends out of the sun.

Camp Highlights: A child’s first camping experience that combines a climate controlled indoor adventure with the diversity of an outdoor play experience. Children will participate in all activity areas including, arts and crafts, STEAM, outdoor games, basketball, soccer, archery and nature through-out the week. They will swim at our instructional pool or go to the spray park twice a day and have 2 group swim lessons weekly.

CAMP CARE-A-LOTAges: 7 - 8 years

Fees: Member: $175 per week Non-Member: $205 per week

Camp Highlights:

Campers in the Camp Care-A-Lot groups will swim in the large outdoor swimming pool. Participants will have 2 swimming lessons during the week. Campers will go to arts and crafts, nature, archery and sports at least once a week.

• Cheer and Dance Camp - Spirit, teamwork and basic cheering skills will be introduced to the campers as well as an introduction to several different types of dance including hip-hop, jazz and more.

• Sports Camp - Basic fundamentals and skills in multiple sports will be the focus. Children will gain a sense of teamwork and sportsmanship, as well as, a basic understanding of the games.

• Nature & Beyond - This exciting program is designed to introduce young people to the outdoors. Outdoor education has three branches; environmental science (learning about the natural world and how things are interconnected), team building (getting a group of individuals to work together cohesively as a group), and outdoor living skills (how humans learned to survive without modern technologies). The activities highlighted in this camp are designed to explore the field of outdoor education in a fun and unique way.

• Zig-Zag Zoom - Children will zig-zag and zoom their way through their day. This popular camp at the Y is geared towards the child who would like to do a little bit of everything while at camp. Y Summer Camp is a great way to not only create lasting memories, but to also instill skills that benefit youth for life. All of the Y Camps strive to instill the Y’s four core values of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility into every activity, every day. Children will go swimming, to the spray park, arts and crafts, STEAM, nature and sports.

U-GO-TO CAMPAges: 9 - 12 years

Fees: Member: $170 per week Non-Member: $195 per week

Camp Highlights:

U-Go-To groups will swim in the large outdoor pool with 2 group swim lessons per week. These groups will go to arts and crafts, sports and nature at least once throughout the week.

• Girl Power Camp - Girl Power camp will help girls build self-esteem and confidence. The Y will work with the participant to raise awareness about young women’s issues such as body image, peer pressure and sexism. The Y helps young women develop critical thinking skills so they make informed choices. We also hope to illustrate the links between young women and the community. (Limited to 26 girls).

• Cheer/Dance Camp - Cheer/Dance camp will offer your camper the opportunity to explore creative movement integrating many different cheer/dance styles and techniques. Our experienced instructors will help your camper build self-esteem while learning healthy movement and self-expression. Cheer/Dance camp also teaches campers how to be a friend, leader and teammate.

• Energize Camp - A popular camp, geared towards the child who would like to do a little bit of everything while at camp. Campers will go swimming, participate in arts and crafts, STEAM, sports and nature.

• Sports Camp -This camp teaches and encourages children to show sportsmanship and teamwork in a group environment. Campers will learn through skills and drills while building teamwork, self-esteem and sportsmanship by being exposed to multiple sports.(Shin guards recommended)

CAMP TRAILBLAZERSAges: 9 - 11 years

Fees: Member: $180 per week Non-Member: $205 per week*Plus $15.00 weekly field trip fee

Camp Highlights: Our trailblazer’s series will focus on outdoor nature activities that campers will enjoy. Participants will explore the outdoors through fishing, hiking and other nature-based activities. Each camper will gain self-confidence and grow socially while being a member of a team. Campers will travel to other outdoor venues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to round out their camp experience.

Note: (Limited to 26 campers per week) Camp T-shirts must be worn daily. Each child will receive 2 shirts for the summer; additional shirts can be purchased at $10 each.

Camp Highlights: Adventure camp will open your child up to a variety of activities including sports, arts and crafts, swimming and team building while focusing on the YMCA core values. This camp will travel off grounds three days a week to adventurous destinations around New England. Campers will build a sense of independence, self-esteem and personal confidence.

Note: Camp T-shirts must be worn daily. Each child will receive 2 shirts for the summer. Additional shirts can be purchased for $10 each. Extended camp days will be published on Adventure Camp’s weekly calendar. All trips are subject to change without notice.

Camp Highlights - Imagine the excitement as your camper travels up to five days per week to many new and exciting destinations throughout New England. Campers will have the opportunity to work with age appropriate activities to build a team environment. Campers will learn a variety of different skills focused on developing positive behavior and personal responsibility in a group environment.

Note: Camp T-shirts must be worn daily. Each child will receive 2 shirts for the summer. Additional shirts can be purchased for $10 each. Extended camp days will be published on the Explorer Camp’s weekly calendar. All trips are subject to change without notice.

PATHFINDERSAges: 12 - 15 years

Wind your way through a fun filled path of team building, self-discovery and collaboration this summer. Pathfinders will grow in the areas of adaptability, responsibility and leadership.

LEADERS IN TRAINING (LIT) Ages 13-15 (limited to 12 participants per 2 week session during Weeks 1-8)

Fees: Member: $145 per week Non-Member: $175 per week (2 week sessions) (2 week sessions)

Start the process of becoming a great Leader. LIT’s will need to complete a 250 word essay on why they want to be a LIT and go through an interview process prior to starting their program. LIT’s will receive an hour of training daily before going out to the Sprouts groups (Ages 5 & 6) that they will be working with. LIT’s will be under the supervision of the Sprouts staff during that time. After their time with the Sprouts ends, they will debrief the day then head to the pool for some free swim time. LIT’s will earn up to a $25 stipend per week based on attendance and performance.

Daily Schedule:8:45 am -10:00 am - Training (ex: What makes a great camp counselor, Supervision, What to do if?, Child Abuse and Prevention, What to do in an Emergency, What is Developmentally appropriate for Children Ages 5&6 years old, Disciplining Positively, Behavior Management, Team Building etc.)

10:15 am - 1:45 pm - Head out to the Sprouts Groups

2:00 pm - 2:30 pm - Debrief the day
