AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE EVENT PARTICIPANTS WILL BE ABLE TO:• Identify signs of human trafficking to improve recognition and knowledge about human trafficking in all phases of medical care.
• Identify and evaluate Morel-Lavelle Lesions to understand operative versus non-operative treatment options as well as post-operative and post-injury
management of Morel-Lavelle Lesions.
• Review common substances of overdoses and the relationship between Poison Control and medical professionals to diagnose and treat patients.
• Review and discuss management of a gunshot wound to the abdomen throughout the spectrum of care to better understand the complexities of
injuries and treatment plans.
• Describe the clinical presentations, diagnostic procedures, and treatment options in minor TBI and Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy(CTE) in
relation to current research and trends.
• Discuss current and innovative trends as they relate to care of the hospitalized trauma patient.
• Identify, evaluate, and accurately diagnose burn patients in order to establish treatment modalities based on current standards and principles of
burn care management.
• Discuss the physical, psychological, and emotional effects of a traumatic event from the patient perspective throughout all phases of the trauma
process.
• Discuss current and innovative trends as they relate to prehospital care of the trauma patient.
• Discuss the role of therapy dogs in prehospital care to provide safe and efficient care to trauma patients.
