4 // ROBUST FEED PRO

For working in the toughest conditions, we created the Robust Feed Pro, our most durable, ergonomic and high-performance feeder yet. The Robust Feed Pro maintains unmatched performance, even in extreme elements, and proves that no obstacle is too challenging for this rugged, ready-for-anything portable feeder.

ULTIMATE DURABILITY. Robust Feed’s double-walled design is perfect for daily use in tough conditions and provides an IP44 rating for superior protection against dirt, mud, splashes, and even heavy rain. Internally, the Robust Feed’s connections, spools and electronics are protected from straining and breakage, heat and condensation and short circuits.

UNRIVALLED PORTABILITY. Robust Feed has three comfortable handles (all are crane certified) and two additional lifting points for best-in-class portability and maneuverability, making it easy to lift and carry through confined spaces and around obstacles. Rounded edges and special high durability wear surfaces let you drag it anywhere without catching on other objects. The optional flat and vertical wheel kits and trolley integration allow for even greater mobility, so you will always get to where you need to weld — in the workshop or field.

UNMATCHED PERFORMANCE. The new precisely crafted aluminium drive stand feeds solid wire up to 2.0 mm and cored up to 2.4 mm at speeds of 0.8–25.0 m/min. When changing the spool, you can feed the new wire without opening the drive stand. When it comes to power, Robust Feed easily handles 550 A at 50% duty cycle, 500 A at 60% duty cycle, and 400 A at 100%, enabling productivity that few other portable feeders can provide.

ENGINEERED FOR COMFORT All PSF torches feature an ergonomic design that ensures a comfortable and firm hold while helping avoid hand fatigue. The larger PSFs, including the water-cooled models, have rubberised soft-grip areas plus knuckle joints and spring supports that improve flexibility to reduce wrist strain.

OUR MOST POWERFUL TORCH The new PSF 520W water-cooled torch — our most powerful yet — can take on the most demanding jobs. Its dual-circuit cooling system brings cooling water all the way to the seat of the gas nozzle, so your torch stays cooler and more comfortable with larger wires.

Other benefits include better wire feedability, longer consumables life, a more stable arc, lower spatter adhesion, easier cleaning and lower risk of shielding gas turbulence.

PREMIUM PERFORMANCEWe gave all of our PSF welding torches better wire feeding capabilities for a more stable arc and improved weld quality. While the front-end has been completely redesigned, the wear parts remain fully compatible with the time-proven heritage PSF wear parts. This includes long-lasting contact tips made from a premium CuCrZi alloy that resists wear so you can weld longer.

FOR GALVANISED STEELS,LESS IS MORE.

For more productivity with galvanised, go with less — less porosity, spatter and burn through — by using OK® AristoRod™ 38 Zn, ESAB’s new solid wire for MIG/MAG welding of galvanised steels.

10 // ARISTOROD 38Zn

ALLOYED TO DELIVER IN GALVANIZED STEELSWelding galvanised steel releases zinc vapour that affects arc stability and contributes to excess spatter. If trapped in the weld pool, the vapour causes porosity as the weld solidifies. Through tightly controlled micro-alloying elements in its formulation, OK AristoRod 38 Zn allows the zinc vapour to escape. It addresses the root cause of porosity and spatter associated with standard ER70S-6 wires without the expense of metal cored wires.

In addition to using OK AristoRod 38 Zn, ESAB application experts can work with you to optimise joint design, torch mechanics and other counter-measures that combat the challenges of welding galvanised steel. Contact your ESAB representative today.

OPTIMISED RESULTS OK AristoRod 38 Zn* significantly reduces or eliminates rejects and rework. You get optimised results when welding the galvanised steel components used in transportation, white goods, agricultural tanks and troughs, HVAC systems and construction.

HEAD-TO-HEAD WINNERESAB conducted head-to-head tests against other common options for welding galvanised steel. The results were conclusive: OK AristoRod 38 Zn offers less of what you do not want and more of what you desire: the best performance at the lowest total cost of production.

OK AristoRod 38 Zn is available in diameters of 0.8, 1.0 and 1.2 mm in 15 kg and 18 kg spools and 250 kg Marathon Pac™.

LOWER DIFFUSIBLE HYDROGEN Dual Shield Prime wires carry an H4 designation, indicating low levels of diffusible hydrogen in the deposited weld metal. We laser seal the seams, so there is no chance of picking up moisture. Even after extended storage and exposure, they retain their low hydrogen properties. Where procedures allow, Dual Shield Prime’s low diffusible hydrogen may eliminate or reduce preheat requirements.

IMPACT TOUGHNESSDual Shield Prime wires are especially suited for high-tensile steels and applications that require low temperature impact toughness, notably in the ship, offshore, oil/gas and processing industries. All carry ABS approval, with additional approval by product, including BV approval, for the 81Ni1 H4 grades.

OPERATOR FRIENDLYUsers at naval shipyards and construction engineering companies report that Dual Shield Prime produces a very soft arc with almost spatter-free welds and easy slag

removal - an important consideration in multi-pass applications. With a spray-type transfer, operators can easily manipulate and control the weld puddle, enjoy good wetting with tie-in at the toes of the weld and achieve good penetration.

COPPER-FREEDual Shield Prime is a non-copper-coated wire. As a result, there are no copper flakes to contaminate wire feeders, liners, torches and contact tips with copper particles. The result is trouble free feeding, high process stability, reduced consumption of wear parts and superior welding properties. Combined with lower diffusible hydrogen, these properties add up to increased productivity, lower welding costs and higher quality welds.

FOUR SEAMLESS WIRESESAB offers Dual Shield Prime in four different compositions and diameters of 1.2 - 1.6 mm:

n Dual Shield Prime 71 H4. For mild steel and 490N/mm2 class high tensile steel; uses Ar/CO2 shielding gas.

n Dual Shield Prime 71 LT H4. For mild steel and 490N/mm2 class high tensile steel for low temperature service; uses Ar/CO2 or 100% CO2 shielding gas.

12 // COREWELD 69

Coreweld 69 LT H4 is a new metal cored wire designed for high-strength steels. It achieves a yield strength of 690 MPa or greater and excellent sub-zero toughness down to -60 °C.

COREWELD 69 LT H4: DESIGNED FOR STRENGTH

LOW DIFFUSABLE HYDROGENWelding high strength steel requires low diffusible hydrogen welding consumables in order to avoid hydrogen induced cold cracking. Coreweld 69 LT H4 meets the requirements of AWS H4 (less than 4 ml of diffusible hydrogen per 100 g of weld metal) and EN ISO H5, even after exposure to high temperatures and humidity. The wire is also CE marked.

SMOOTH ARC TRANSFER, MINIMAL SPATTERCoreweld 69 LT H4 is characterised by a smooth arc that produces minimal spatter and silica on the weld metal surface. With the wide arc characteristic of metal cored wires, Coreweld 69 LT H4 helps catch both sides of a joint, reducing the risk of fusion defects sometimes associated with the GMAW process.

APPLICATIONSTypical high-strength steel applications for Coreweld 69 LT H4 include:

n Construction, agricultural and forestry equipmentn Mobile machinery/yellow goodsn Chassis and bodywork of commercial vehiclesn Load handling equipmentn Feeders, hoppers and containers

ESAB Coreweld 69 LT H4 is ideal for spray arc transfer welding in the flat and horizontal positions. It is available in wire diameters of 1.2, 1.4 and 1.6 mm and in 16 kg wire baskets or Marathon Pac™.
