CLASSIFICATION OF SPECIALTY SHOW (continued)
Awards of Merit The Specialty judge may, at his or her discretion, award Judge’s Awards of Merit to a
maximum of 10% of the Best of Breed entry, plus Winners Dog and Winners Bitch, along with the winners of the Veteran, Field Trial, and Hunting classes. The Award of Merit winners will be selected after the Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed, Select Dog,
Select Bitch and Best of Winners awards are made. All dogs remaining in competition, including Winners Dog and Winners Bitch, are eligible for an Award of Merit.
NON-REGULAR CLASSES INVOLVING SINGLE DOG ENTRIES:
Veteran Dog and Veteran Bitch Open to dogs and bitches 8 years old and over. Classes are divided by age: 8 years and under 10 years, 10 years and under 12 years, 12 years and older. Neutered dogs and spayed bitches are allowed to compete in Veteran classes at independent specialty shows. Only
winners of these classes are eligible to compete in Best of Breed competition.
Field Trial Dog and Field Trial Bitch Open to intact dogs and bitches that have placed in an AKC-licensed Field Trial in an Open or Amateur Adult major, including Gun Dog and All-Age stakes. Only winners of these classes
are eligible to compete in Best of Breed competition.
Hunting Dog and Hunting Bitch Open to intact dogs and bitches that have obtained the advanced AKC Hunting title of SH or
MH. Only winners of these classes are eligible to compete in Best of Breed competition.
Dual Class
Open to intact dogs and bitches that are AKC Dual Champions or are both AKC Conformation Champions and Amateur Field Champions. Only winners of these classes are eligible to
compete in Best of Breed competition.
Iron Dog and Iron Bitch Open to AKC-registered Vizslas of all ages, including neutered dogs and spayed bitches not eligible for any other class competition (e.g., Iron Dog/Bitch or Veteran Dog/Bitch). Winners of
these classes are not eligible for Best of Breed. An Iron Dog registration fee and individual AKC class entries are required for the Iron Dog Competition (see pp. 17–19 for more information).
NON-REGULAR CLASSES INVOLVING MULTIPLE DOG ENTRIES:
Stud Dog and Brood Bitch Stud Dog class—For stud dogs and two of their get entered in this show. The awards will be
based on the merits of the get. The owner of the stud dog need not be the owner of the get. The stud dog must appear in the ring with his get and be entered in the Stud Dog class.
Brood Bitch class—For bitches and two of their produce entered in this show. The awards will be based on the merits of the produce. The owner of the brood bitch need not be the owner of the produce. The brood bitch must appear in the ring with her produce and be entered in the Brood Bitch class.
Notes: Since the judge’s decision in these classes will be based on the merits of more than one dog or bitch, no
one of the dogs or bitches making up the entry judged first in the class will be eligible to compete for Best of Breed by virtue of having won this class. While the merits of the stud dog or brood bitch are not to be considered in the placement of the entry, the stud dog or brood bitch must be examined to determine if it has a condition that would require disqualification or excusal under the Dog Show Rules, AKC policy or the standard for the breed.
Grandsire/Granddam At least one of the two succeeding generations must be entered in the show.
Grandsire—For a dog and two consecutive generations of his get/produce. Granddam—For a bitch and two consecutive generations of her get/produce.

of a brace is not entered in another class, it must be entered for Brace class only, which will require a $25.00 fee. In making entries for Brace class only, full particulars must be given for each dog on individual entry forms. The entry form of a dog entered in another class and
entered as part of a brace must be marked accordingly in the space provided for Additional Classes as ―Brace Class.‖ If more than one brace is entered by the same owner, it must be so designated ―Brace #1,‖ ―Brace #2,‖ etc.
CLASSIFICATION OF JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP

with competition present, in a Novice class at a licensed or member show. A first place in Novice without competition leading to a Best Junior award with competition would count as one win towards moving to Open at a licensed or member show.
Note: Junior Handlers who win a third Novice class, with competition present, after the closing of entries for a
show are required to transfer their entry from the Novice class to the Open class provided that this transfer is made by the Superintendent or Show Secretary at least one-half hour prior to the scheduled start of Junior Showmanship judging at the show.
Open Open shall be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have won three (3) first-place awards, with competition present, in a Novice class at a licensed or member show.
Note: Winning first place in an Open Junior Showmanship class at this show may qualify or count toward
qualification for entry in certain future limited Junior Showmanship classes that have been approved to date by the AKC. Send any inquiries to the American Kennel Club, 8051 Arco Corporate Drive, Suite 100, Raleigh, NC 27617-3390.
Junior, Intermediate and Senior Classes Junior, Intermediate and Senior classes are each divided by age. A Junior class shall be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 12 years old on the day of the show. The Intermediate class shall be for boys and girls who are at least 12 years old and under 15
years old on the day of the show. The Senior class shall be for the boys and girls who are at least 15 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show.

change their entry the day of the show if entries have already closed. Once the eligibility time frame for that year has passed, all participants return to the Open class to compete for the following year.
Best Junior Handler The Vizsla Club of America, Inc., offers a prize for Best Junior Handler. The Junior Handler placed first in each of the regular Junior Showmanship classes shall automatically be eligible to compete for this prize

NOTICE TO EXHIBITORS
RECORDING AND SERVICE FEES: A recording fee of $.50 for each dog and an AKC event service fee of $3.00 will be required for each recordable single-entry class at any Licensed or Member Club Show or Obedience Trial (American Kennel Club Rule, Chapter 11, Section 2). An AKC recording fee of $3.50 for the first entry and $3.00 for each additional entry of the same dog will be required in Rally (American Kennel Club Rally Regulation, Chapter 1, Section 3). These fees are included with the entry fee and are paid to the American Kennel Club.
INCORRECT ENTRIES: The Vizsla Club of America, Inc., assumes no responsibility for the owner or owner’s agent entering a dog in a class in which it is not eligible to compete or for entering the same dog twice. The club and its members assume no responsibility for wrong or incomplete information given on the entry blank by the owner or the owner’s agent. Returned checks do not constitute a valid entry. The returned items must be made good by cash or money order before the dog will be allowed in the ring.
CONDITIONAL ENTRIES: No entry shall be made and no entry shall be accepted which specifies a condition as to its acceptance.
OFFICIAL AKC ENTRY FORMS ONLY: Entries not on official AKC Entry Forms and photocopies of entry forms without the Agreement and Rules on the reverse side of the Official AKC Entry Form are not acceptable.
DOG TITLES ON ENTRY FORM: Include only AKC and VCA titles on the entry form.
EXHIBITOR IDENTIFICATION TICKETS AND JUDGING PROGRAMS: Identification tickets and judging programs will be mailed to the address given on the entry blank. If not received within the specified time limit prior to the show, notify Foy Trent Dog Shows, PO Box C, Sturgeon MO 65284. Tickets returned by the post office marked ―undeliverable‖ will be held at the Show Secretary’s desk. Please bring your identification tickets to the show.
PROMPT ENTRY INTO RING: Owners are to have their dogs ready to go into the ring promptly so judging will not be delayed. Dogs must be present for their own judging only. Dogs not needed for further judging are excused. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to have his/her dog ready at ringside when the steward calls the class. Owners and/or their handlers are responsible for making sure their dog is present in the ring. This means it is the responsibility of neither the ring steward, nor any agent, nor the show-giving club to locate any dog, its owner or handler. There is no American Kennel Club or club rule requiring a judge to wait for an owner or handler to enter the ring.
OWNERS’ FAMILIARITY WITH RULES: Owners must familiarize themselves with the agreement of the American Kennel Club referred to on the reverse side of the entry blanks that accompany this premium list. Rule books are available at the show, or individual copies may be obtained free from the AKC, 8051 Arco Corporate Drive, Suite 100, Raleigh, NC 27617-3390.
LOSS OF OR DAMAGE TO EXHIBITED DOG: The club and its officers or members will not be responsible for the loss of or damage to any dog exhibited, whether the result of accident or other causes. It is distinctly understood that every dog at this show is in the care, custody and control of its owner or handler during the entire time of the national events. The club, its officers or members will not assume any responsibility for any loss, damage or injury sustained by an exhibitor or agent.

ENTRY REFUNDS: Entry fees shall not be refunded in the event a dog is absent, disqualified, sick, lame, excused by veterinarian or judge, barred from competition by action of the show committee, or because the dog is ineligible to compete due to being entered incorrectly. There is no entry fee refund for duplicate entry or for bitches in season (except for those entered in Obedience and Rally). Any exhibitor with a bitch that was entered in Obedience or Rally and is in season on the trial date will be refunded the Obedience or Rally entry fee minus one-half of that entry fee for administrative costs. Written notification must be in the hands of the Show Secretary no later than one-half hour before the start of the trial.
ENTRY REFUNDS OF $3.00 OR LESS: Refunds of $3.00 or less will not be issued due to the costs of processing. An administrative fee will be charged for all cancellations or changes made prior to close of entries.
DECLINE OF ENTRY: The Vizsla Club of America, Inc., may decline any entries for cause and may refuse to receive or may remove any dog on account of disease, viciousness or other causes; and no one shall have any claim or recourse against the club or any official thereof.
NO-REFUNDS POLICY: No entry fees will be refunded if it is impossible to open or complete the show because of riots, civil disturbances, fires, extreme and/or dangerous weather conditions, an act of God, public emergency, acts of a public enemy or other acts or causes beyond the control of the club or the Show Secretary.

Vizsla Club of America
National Specialty
Iron Dog Competition
April 30–May 5, 2018
Welcome to our fourth annual Vizsla Iron Dog Competition at the National Specialty Events. In celebration of our versatile Vizslas, this competition highlights the wide-ranging abilities of the
breed. Entries in Iron Dog are open to AKC-registered Vizslas, including spayed and neutered dogs of all ages. Iron Dog points accumulate from classes entered in Conformation, Rally, Obedience and Agility. After all competitions are completed, the overall winners will be crowned.
Professional handlers will be allowed; however, amateur owners will receive a 30-point bonus added to their conformation score for handling their own dogs in all venues. Any professional handler who is listed as an owner and handles the dog in all other Iron Dog events is eligible for the bonus.
AWARDS: Gold, silver and bronze medals and ribbons will be awarded to the top three
point earners.
RULES: Only scores earned on designated National Specialty Event days will count.
To be eligible in the companion events, the dog must be entered at the level in which it is currently competing in AKC events.
A dog may be entered in any or all of the companion event types. Its highest score
from the events will be used in Iron Dog scoring (e.g., Conformation would use the dog’s highest placement in Sweepstakes or Conformation, and its best score in Rally Excellent or Rally Advanced).
Handlers who reside in the same household and share a dog may split handling (e.g.,
one owner handles in Obedience and another in Agility) and still receive the owner-handler bonus. Professional handlers may not split handling with co-owners.
Handlers who reside in different households and split the handling of a dog are not eligible for the amateur bonus.
Overall tiebreaker: We will use Agility times. Averaging the JWW and STD rounds, the dog with the fastest clean run in yards per second wins.
SCORING: A perfect score is 1,000. There are 250 points available in each venue: Agility,
Obedience, Rally and Conformation.
Agility: Jumpers and Standard scores will be added together plus any achievement
bonuses. Master dogs earn achievement bonuses with speed points for each second under
the course time to a maximum of 20 points. Preferred dogs will divide their speed bonus points in half.
For the purposes of the Iron Dog score tabulations only, the following penalties will be applied to faulted rounds:
―R‖ – Refusal/run-out, 5 penalty points
―W‖– Wrong course, 5 penalty points
―T‖ – Pause table fault, 5 penalty points
―F‖ – Failure to perform, 10 penalty points
―E‖ – Excusal (NQ), 0-point score for class
17
The following achievement bonuses will be added to your Agility score for a maximum of 250 points:
10 points for Open (10 points per event, i.e., 20 points for JWW and STD)
15 points for Excellent (15 points per event, i.e., 30 points for JWW and STD)
15 points for Master (15 points per event, i.e., 30 points for JWW and STD)
0–20 speed points (seconds under time)—minimum of 0 and maximum of 20
points combined from JWW and STD. (Preferred dogs can earn a maximum of 10 points.) Speed points apply only to clean rounds in Master JWW and STD.
Obedience: Of the 250 possible points, 20 points can be earned for participation plus
your highest Obedience score. Should you receive an NQ, the points you did earn will contribute to your score. The following achievement bonuses will be added to your score:
5 points for Novice or Veteran
10 points for Graduate Novice or Preferred Open
15 points for Open
20 points for Graduate Open or Preferred Utility or Versatility
30 points for Utility
Rally: Of the 250 possible points, 130 points can be earned for participation plus your
highest Rally score. Should you receive an NQ, the points you did earn will contribute to your score. The following achievement bonuses will be added to your score:
5 points for Intermediate
10 points for Advanced
15 points for Excellent
20 points for Master
Conformation: Points from your highest score in Sweepstakes or Conformation class
will apply. A special Iron Dog Non-Regular class, designated as ―Iron Dog‖ or ―Iron Bitch‖ on the AKC entry form, will be offered for judging of non-eligible dogs (i.e., spayed or neutered). Dogs age 8 and over must be entered in Veterans. Stud Dog, Brood Bitch and
Brace classes do not earn points for Iron Dog.
Of the 250 possible points, 150 points can be earned for participation, 30 points for an owner-handler (see Notes), plus additional points for the following bonus categories:
1 point for each dog defeated in a class for a maximum of 25 points
35 points for Best of Opposite Sweeps or Best Veteran Dog/Bitch in Sweeps
40 points for Best in Sweeps
45 points for Reserve Winners Dog or Reserve Winners Bitch
50 points for Winners Dog or Winners Bitch
55 points for Award of Merit or Best of Winners
60 points for Select Dog or Select Bitch
65 points for Best of Opposite
70 points for Best of Breed
NOTES: Add 30 points for amateur owners/co-owners handling their own dogs in all venues.
Add 30 points for professional handlers listed as owners handling their own dogs in all venues.
Any dog excused from a class will receive a 0-point score for that class.
Running totals of scores will be posted daily in a prominent location.
Entry-level classes (Novice Agility, Beginner Novice and Preferred-Novice Obedience, and Rally Novice) are not eligible for achievement bonus points.

It is expressly understood that exhibitors alone are responsible for the behavior of their dogs and/or children. You are invited to participate in the
All Star Review
Friday, May 4, 2018
This unique showcase is designed to spotlight the dogs that have achieved the pinnacle of success in our breed. Open only to AKC Show Champions that also hold either a Field Championship, Amateur Field Championship, Master Hunter title or NAVHDA Utility Prize 1 title, this prestigious competition highlights the importance of form to function in a breed where this remains a priority.
37
ALL STAR REVIEW RULES Format: A panel of three knowledgeable Vizsla handlers, breeders and/or judges will judge the All Star Review. The identities of the judges will be kept secret until the night of the event. The dogs will be judged using the breed standard. There will be no division into classes by sex or title. Two winners will emerge from the ranks of the breed’s most accomplished dogs. The Best in Review and Best Veteran in Review results will be announced at the conclusion of the All Star Review showcase. Owners and breeders of these exceptional dogs are encouraged to support the entry of this event. Your hard work, dedication, commitment of time and resources are being honored and awarded the recognition of your peers. PLEASE NOTE: The purpose of the All Star Review is to showcase the quality and accomplishments of its entrants and their owners. In order to do so, we highly encourage that each exhibit be owner-handled. PROFESSIONAL HANDLERS (INCLUDING PRO FIELD HANDLERS/TRAINERS) MAY HANDLE ONLY THE DOGS THEY OWN OR CO-OWN. A professional handler/trainer is any person who distributes rate cards or otherwise advertises himself/herself as handling dogs in the show ring or field for pay. Entry Requirements: AKC Champion dogs/bitches that also hold a Field Championship, Amateur Field Championship, Master Hunter title or NAVHDA Utility
Prize I title on or before the close of entries qualify. The completion dates of BOTH titles must be entered on the entry form. Neutered dogs and bitches may compete. A veteran’s age is 10 years and older for this competition. Prizes: Each participating dog will receive a rosette engraved with his or her name. The Best in Review and Best Veteran in Review will each receive a Dannyquest sculpture. A plaque will be added to the Adele Neupert Memorial Trophy to honor the winner of Best in Review. This is not a traveling trophy. Entry Fee: The entry fee is $50. This fee includes entry into the All Star Review, a 2-page catalog advertisement, which includes a half-page picture and biography plus a 3-generation pedigree, and a special engraved rosette with the dog’s name, event and year. Please note, the entry fee does NOT include a catalog. Make checks payable to ―All Star Review.‖ The entry form and fee must be received by the closing date of April 11, 2018, at 6 P.M. PST. Vizslas and serves as a wonderful keepsake. This year the cost for a full-page color ad is just $70.
We are offering a one-time discounted rate of $150 for advertising in all three 2018 National catalogs (NGDC, Specialty Show, and NFT).
SUBMITTAL DEADLINE FOR ADVERTISEMENTS IS MARCH 10, 2018

submitted in either PDF (.pdf), JPEG (.jpg) or TIFF (.tif) file format.
