REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS

First Time Users

1. Open your web browser and go to www.srcouncil.org.

2. Click on the “Training” tab.

3. Scroll down to the University of Scouting registration box.

4. Click “register box”

5. On the right side of the new window, click on the Account Type and select

Individual/family.

6. Enter First Name and Last Name

7. Enter Phone number

8. Enter Email address

9. Confirm email address

10. Create a username and create a password

11. Click create account

12. Now go to your email and click the verify confirmation link. Note: If the verification

email is not in your inbox, check your it in the spam or junk folder. You now have an

account set up to use in the program for other activities in the future.

13. Once you have verified your account, enter your user name and password on the left of the

screen and click “Login.”

Register for the Activity

1. After login, highlight University of Scouting on the left.

2. Click on “Your Roster” above the events.

3. Complete the requested information at the right on the new screen.

4. Scroll down to the bottom and click “Save” when completed.

5. Click on “Event Registration” to sign up for the event.

6. A blank “Adult Registrations” screen appears.

7. Click either the “New” button or the “New Adult Registration” button.

8. In the new window select the name you entered and then click on “Create Registration.”

9. Click on the “Classes” for your selections.

10. Each class is listed and the session at the far right. You can select up to four (4) classes.

Simply click and drag the class over to your “Current Schedule” box.

11. When you are finished with your selections, click on the “Save” button.

12. At this point you have two options to choose from: 1)Add an additional registrant OR

2)Checkout and pay for the registration.

13. If you are paying by credit/debit card, click the checkout option.

14. If you are paying by unit account or at the Council office, your registration is complete.

Please contact the Council office to inform them you have made your reservation for

classes, and it will be paid by unit account. Or when you come into the Council office let

them know you are paying for it.

I’m a new Boy Scout Leader…HELP! For the new Boy Scout leader that needs a Fast Start into the position; knowing your resources, understanding the planning process, how a troop is organized, and who leads it. Also learn about the responsibilities of the committee and so much more. I’m a new Varsity Scout Leader…HELP! For the new Varsity Scout leader that needs a Fast Start into the position; knowing your resources, understanding the planning process, how a team is organized, and who leads it. Also learn about the responsibilities of the committee and so much more. I’m a new Venture Leader… HELP! For the new Venture leader that needs a Fast Start into the position; knowing your resources, understanding the planning process, how a team is organized, and who leads it. Also learn about the responsibilities of the committee and so much more. Dutch Oven Cooking (For all Groups) An introduction to Dutch Oven Cooking including the Do’s and Don’ts. Be Prepared for great recipes. Light Stove Cooking (For all Groups) An introduction to Light Stove Cooking is ideal for long hikes when pack weight is an issue. Selections will be available and experience in cooking from one. Utensil-Free Cooking (For all Groups) A fun and educational way to cook without pots or pans. Find out tools that are available in nature that would qualify for a pan, bowl, utensils, etc. Planning Eagle Projects (12 Steps to Eagle) How to plan the project, how to carry it out, and how to do the paperwork. It's all covered here! Outdoor Ethics Awareness Venture down the path of really becoming aware of your surroundings, of building the skills that will allow you to leave no trace on the land.

Planning a Boy-Led Troop Program Learn how to plan a year-round program calendar, advancement, using the Patrol Method, believing in a boy-led troop, training, discipline, parental involvement, Troop Meeting planning, the PLC, summer camp, year round program planning calendar. Geocache & Scouting (For all Groups)

Geocaching is an entertaining adventure game for GPS users. Participating in a cache hunt is a good way to take advantage of a GPS unit. NOTE: This is a 2-session class. Ceremonies Ideas for creating exciting and memorable ceremonies including Courts of Honor, Eagle Courts of Honor, spontaneous recognition for an activity or completed service project. Capotes (For all Groups) A very popular class that will fill up fast. Participants will need to bring a blanket. You will need a wool blanket 72” x 90” or larger, depending on the size of the person. NOTE: This is a 2-session class. Planning a Year-round Varsity Scout Program This class gives a brief overview of the Varsity Program and explains the strengths of the youth run leadership. Fire Building & Broken Match (For all Groups) Build fires without matches. Flint and Steel, Bow and Drill. Older Boy Advancement Utilize the strengths of this group to keep Scouting both fun and exciting. Boards of Review instruction. Help your boys finish their Eagle Scout Award, Varsity Letter, Denali Award, Venturing Gold Award, and other awards.

Climbing/Rappelling This orientation class does not constitute training on how to climb or rappel. It does teach what you need to plan this activity for your group. Conducting Ethical Controversies Venturing uses "ethical controversies" to help young adults develop the ability to make responsible choices that reflect their concern for what is a risk and how it will affect others. Planning a Year-round Venturing Program Nervous because there are far more Venturing meetings in the year than you can think of activities? Learn how to expand your possibilities in this presentation. Kodiak Trek as a Unit The world has enough followers. What the world needs is more youth prepared to be leaders. Kodiak is multi-day, advanced leadership experiences in which those involved learn leadership skills in a fun way that is internalized. Kodiak involves six skills. Kodiak can be run on a Unit level, District level, and Council level. The Council runs a trek every year in late June or early July. Introduction to Primitive Skills – Anasazi all the way Making capotes, starting fires by bow drill, flint and steel, flint knapping are just some of the activities this venture crew is involved with for youth (both boys and girls) and their adult leaders. Varsity Operation On-Target What is On-Target? What peaks are available? How does one signal from one peak to another? What types of mirrors are used? Does it have to be an overnighter or can I do it in one day? Beck Leather (For all Groups) See what great leather craft activities and products are available for any age in any Scouting group.

Prepare your year with a rock-solid planned schedule that the youth with enjoy, and the parents and leaders will be enthused about. From Webelos to Arrow of Light, a Quick Guide The highest achievement in Cub Scouts is the Arrow of Light. Find ways to make it special for the boys in this exciting course. Planning an 11-Year Old Scout Program Learn how to work with your new Scouts to help them reach their First Class Rank by the time they reach 12 years old. Flag Ceremonies & Etiquette (For all groups) Teach duty to country, as well as respect and honor for our flag. Respect for our nation’s flag is one of the most important aspects of good citizenship. Learn the proper way to take care of Old Glory and new ways to present the colors. Leader Recognition A little thanks goes a long way. Learn how leaders can earn BSA knots and awards. Also the art of saying thank you and job well done. Simple but effective ideas for recognizing leaders.

Cub Scout Advancement and Bridging Ceremonies Ideas for creating memorable ceremonies for those important moments in the Den and Pack Programs. Creative and fun ways to recognize and advance the boys and make them feel important. You’ll also learn about additional special awards such as NOVA Award, Summertime Pack Award, and Cubs in the Kitchen Fun and inventive ideas for helping the boys learn how to cook and get their advancements. Take It Outdoors Outdoor activities and field trips – It’s always more fun outdoors. Come for some ideas on how to use the outdoors for your den/pack. Making the Indoors Fun What to do when it’s raining or too cold and you have to meet indoors. Whatever it takes: Make it Fun/ Make it Memorable. Fun with Science Geared to finding ways to interest youth in Science. FUN for everyone. Great things for those earning the Webelos Adventures in Science pin. Cub Scout Woodworking and Wood Tools Every boy wants to use tools. Learn techniques and projects to give him the hands-on experience without overwhelming the leader.
