Sparkling / Champagne Cono Sur Pink Fizz 100% Pinot Noir NV £12.00 Attractive pale orange/pink colour, pronounced aromas of sweet berries with great structure and ripe fruit flavours that coat the palate.

Blanc de Blancs Brut, Philippe Herard NV £13.50 Fresh and zingy in style and made using the traditional method, one of the best sparkling wines to come out of France

Pierre Courtois Brut £25.00 By law Champagne takes at least 3 years to make, Pierre Courtois completes the vinification in that time span then matures the stock for a further one year before releasing it. This is very elegant champagne grown in the Valley de la Marne, and made from 50% Pinot Noir , 40% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Meunier. It has a fine mousse to it, good fruit with acidity to match. Nice and long on the palate, used as the ‘pourer’ in the British Embassy in Paris.

Jenkyn Place Brut 2008 (English) £26.00 Grown in Hampshire and made from three quarters Chardonnay with Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier making up the balance, shiny brightness with pithy citrus, acacia blossom and elderflower nose. Soft creamy mousse, cool and suave, strawberry aromas waft around a shiny citrus steel core.

Red wines

Las Condes Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 (Chile) £8.00 Deep ruby colour with a nose dominated by ripe blackcurrant fruit. Medium to full-bodied, supple with soft tannins and acidity and a long finish.

Los Gansos Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 (Chile) £9.00 Round and structured with plum and raspberry notes and a touch of light vanilla. Very well balanced and elegant.

Château de Hauterive, Cahors 2009 £10.00 The Filhot family at Château de Hauterive vinify their grapes to make them slip down more smoothly and agreeably by adding a quarter of Merlot to the Malbec to make their wines soft and accessible.

Domaine Chasson, Côtes de Luberon 2009 £10.00 Half Syrah, half Grenache this magnificently chunky red punches way above its weight, resembling an exquisite Châteauneuf, but at a fraction of the cost.

Château Méaume, Bordeaux Superieur 2009 £13.00 Grown by the greatest Englishman in Bordeaux, Alan Johnson-Hill. The 2009 is the best wine he has made since acquiring the property in 1980. Half Merlot half Cabernet Sauvignon, this excellent claret has a beautiful dark red colour to it, pronounced blackcurrants on the nose and to taste it is nicely balanced with heaps of fruit that coat the palate, the tannins are soft and ripe and the fruit goes on and on

Château Carteau, Grand Cru Saint Emilion 2009 £25.00 The Bertrand family own this star of a property in the Côtes Daugay one of the best parts of Saint Emilion. Château Carteau is within a cork’s length of Château Angelus that normally sells for £1000 a case ‘en primeur’. Château Carteau is made from 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, lovely dark colour, pronounced dark chocolate on the nose, to taste big, flattering, gutsy but elegant with a superb long finish. Excellent claret.

White wines

Las Condes Chardonnay 2012 (Chile) £8.00 Pale gold colour with a fruity nose of fresh pineapple and a touch of banana fruit. On the palate it has a smooth creamy mouth-feel to it but with balanced acidity and very full. The grapes are handpicked and the winery is in the Rapel Valley, some 180 kms south of Santiago.

El Caballo Sauvignon Blanc 2012 (Chile) £8.50 Delicious Sauvignon bursting with aromas of cut grass, lemon zest and gooseberries. Refreshingly crisp and dry on the palate with a lively acidity showing vibrant flavours of tropical fruits, it is well balanced, has great depth and a long clean finish.

Los Gansos Chardonnay 2012 (Chile) £9.00 Young and fresh with notes of white peaches backed by a mineral character, complex, vigorous with pleasant acidity and good length.

Anjou Blanc, Domaine Ackerman 2009 £10.00 Pale yellow with green hues. On the nose apples and pears and to taste well balanced and a delicious off-dry aromas of pears, honey and lemons. A lively refreshing and mouth-watering finish. Grown from 100% Chenin Blanc grapes.

Sancerre, Domaine Brochard 2011 £18.50 The wine has a refreshing aroma with hints of nettles and cut grass. These characteristics are continued on to the palate which has a stony, elderflower fruit character with fresh, zesty acidity.

Rosé wines

Las Condes Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé 2011 (Chile) £8.50

Beautiful ruby red colour with aromas that are characterized by citric notes that go well with the strawberry and raspberry flavours.

Post Tree Pinotage Rosé 2011 (RSA) £8.50 Elegant rosé bursting with flavours of fresh strawberries and ripe cherries. Grown and vinified in the Cape Winelands from the Pinotage grape, a graft of Pinot Noir and Cinsault. Sensational.

Domaine du Grand Chemin Vin Gris Vin de Pays d’Oc 2012 £12.00

The grapes are left very briefly in contact with the fermenting juice resulting in a wine with a beguiling salmon pink colour, it is packed with cherries, raspberries and plums, crisp and easy to glug

PUDDING WINE & PORT Château de Coy, Sauternes 2009 £25.00 Château de Coy lies in the middle of the Château d’Yquem vineyard, the family who own it probably hope that LVMH will eventually buy them out. Delicious dried apricot fruits both on the nose and in the mouth, nice acidity packed with lovely ripe citrus fruits as well. Finish is sweet and long. Superb

Late Bottled Vintage PortSmith Woodhouse LBV 2006 £18.00 Owned and made by the Symington Family who in turn are the owners of Graham, Warre and Dow, there is no need to buy vintage port when you have a ‘pourer’ such as this, deep dark colour, lovely ripe fruit flavours, great structure and length.
