Preferred technologies
In early 2015 colleagues and I did a comprehensive investigation of existing solutions in area of data mining and machine learning. Among free/open-source solution the clear leader was and is Python with a lot of fast-developing libraries. I think it is appropriate solution the most task of analytics and industrial data mining. The only special cases are embedded and mobile development where C/C++ based solutions prevail in performance. But even in those cases machine learning research must be done in more friendly environment and only final models must be implemented in low level. So I'm prefer to do machine learning part and work with Python.
