    CHAPTER 1

    AN INTRODUCTION TO A PROJECT

Science and technology that we have today is a result of the invention of thedevelopments in a creative and innovating since thousands of years agothrough a number of human civilization. It is an e ort to understand humannature and thus endeavor to improve well-being. After experiencing rapidchange according to the needs of society, the role of science becomes morecomplex and sometimes be a negative impact . int progress of a countrydepends on the development of science and technology. !hus science andtechnology education needs to be emphasized to produce individuals asenvisioned by the State in the "ational #ducation $hilosophy and %ision&'&'.

!he goal of this module is to produce students who are able to thin( in acreative, innovative, imaginative and productive. Students will bene)t if itcan solve problems and generate ideas with resources, concepts andprinciples that have been learned in class . *rom there, I settled on the ideaof combining the electrical concept and the principle of Archimedes whostudied in science and physics to produce an innovation.

!herefore, this chapter describes the scenarios that a ect innovationincluding pro+ect bac(ground , ob+ectives and the costs involved .

!he pro+ect was named *uraddo as a result of discussions the group ofinnovation which means /ood of 0apanese words. 1oreover, this name wasalso chosen because there is a river called 2*urat3 . 2*urat3 is one of thelongest rivers in South Asia. It crosses three countries, namely Ira4, Syria and

!ur(ey . In accordance with the ob+ectives of this pro+ect are to help

communities to deal with the problem of /ooding.

#ducation is a process and activities aimed at producing the desired changesin a person. 1ost of this process usually ta(es place in school ages.#ducation is very closely lin(ed with the concept of (nowledge. !here arethree concepts of science in education

i5 !hin(ing process as a basic s(ills.ii5 !he process of getting the results and )ndingsiii5 $roses yang mencapai tahap (epada penggunaan ilmu itu sendiri.

!he se4uence of these three concepts of science , the outbrea( of innovativeideas in order to realize and apply this concept . 6asic start thin(ing beginswhen an idea then attempts to produce. *inally, using all the (nowledge thatexists in the production of innovative pro+ects and the operation of thepro+ect itself .

!his idea arises after loo(ing at the phenomenon of /ooding , one of thee ects of climate change in many countries such as !hailand , Indonesia ,7hina , including 1alaysia . *looding in !hailand caused by heavy rainfall and

prolonged , uncontrolled development and drainage systems that are notmonitored and bloc(ed. As a result , people who are wea( and unpreparedindividuals who su er most from /ood . !herefore , provided the pro+ect isexpected to alleviate the su ering of people who are wea( and not ready forthis .

*or people who live near rivers that /ood plain or in a +oint 8uala 9umpur 7ity, this innovative tool is a tool that is re4uired to give advance warning of/oods to be hit.

If heavy rains or when water has over/owed beyond the ban(s of the river ,basically tool is able to warn nearby residents . !his tool is able to create adevice that is easy and does not re4uire high costs .
