Sardinia, our island. A unique and magic place for history and culture, with breath-taking nature. In a strategic position in the middle of the Mediterranean, there is no such place like Sardinia to practice MTB and outdoor activities all year round. The temperature fluctuates between 50°F and 59°F (10°C and 15°C) even in winter.

Our rides are scientifically designed to let the riders enjoy landscapes of immeasurable beauty, like a painting, immersed as they are in a green uncontaminated landscape, where water flows through thousand-year old pathways across the vestiges of the mysterious nuragic civilization.

Intense smells of Mediterranean bush pleasantly fill riders’ nostrils at every push on the pedals or every step creating a unique bouquet of emotions.

Uncountable routes and tracks being able to excite every rider, whatever be the specialty he excels at, and who wish to calmly enjoy natural beauties that can only be reached by few.

Many individuals or companies can arrange a ride in MTB in a lovely place in the world. But do they keep on top of every minute detail like us? Pre-ride communications, picking up at the airport, welcome kit, healthy and tasty food, fresh beer exactly when you need it! Our guides live, work and have fun where the rides take place. Nobody knows every corner of local tracks better than them, every plant and species that inhabit their area, every hidden treasure of the natural and historical environment. Nobody will be capable of facilitating exchanges with local communities and immersing the rider into the experience of a new language, new customs and habits, new tastes of a brand new way of life with more simplicity and gratification.

“The Supramonte adventure exceeded my expectations! It’s like travelling in time across a land of stunning beauty ...”

Sara

Interested in helping us spread the word of mountain biking? We’ve got a couple of great programs you can take part in to spread the ‘gospel’. When you book for one of our Rides sign up for our Ride Reporter Program and we’ll equip you with an action camera and your personal space on our Blog to report the full action!

DAY 1. Arrival at Alghero. A short transfer will take you to your accommodation near Alghero. In case you arrive early you may have the time for quick dip in the Mediterranean or you could go out for an introductory afternoon ride to Capo Caccia, Sardinia’s westernmost tip.DAY 2. Alghero to Santu Lussurgiu. On the morning of our first day’s cycling we first visit the old Spanish town of Alghero. We then continue on one of Sardinia’s most beautiful coastal roads leading to the pretty medieval town of Bosa. This is one of few spots in Sardinia where griffon vultures still rule the sky! After lunch we climb up to Tinnura where we admire the many murals decorating the little village’s streets. The last stretch of the day is all downhill into the village of Santu Lussurgiu, where we stay in a historical mansion in the centre of the little town. Dinner will be served at a long table in the main dining room.DAY 3. Santu Lussurgiu to Aritzo. Today we sweep down onto the Montiferru Plateau where we enjoy quiet rural roads and admire massif stone towers built by the bronze age nuraghic people. We continue inland towards the Gennargentu Mountains we can see

towering in front of us. While slowly winding our way up and down through the mountain range’s foothills we will start appreciating how wild and unspoilt inland Sardinia really is. We stop for lunch before tackling the main climb of the day leading to the town of Tonara, well known for its handmade ‘torrone’ (turon sweets) and then mainly downhill along the ‘tacco’ (isolated limestone peak) of Monte Texile to our beautiful hotel at Aritzo where we check in in time to get ready for a luxurious dinner.DAY 4. Aritzo to Villagrande Strisaili. After a filling breakfast we head off from Aritzo in direction of Sardinia’s highest peaks reaching up to 1850m. We will definitely need a coffee In Fonni before continuing southward to the Arcu Correboi Pass. Lunch will be along the way, impossible not to find a panoramic picnic spot. We will enjoy our well earned descent to the Villagrande Plateau and its wide views onto the mountainous Supramonte and Ogliastra Regions to the east.DAY 5. Villagrande Strisaili to Jerzu. Today we head south into the region of the ‘Tacchi d’Ogliastra’. We cycle down towards and then along the artificial Alto Flumendosa

Lake after which we start following one of Sardinia’s most scenic mountain roads taking us to the isolated limestone peak of Perde ‘e Liana, Sardinia’s most famous ‘tacco’ and protected as a natural monument. DAY 6. Jerzu to Castiadas. The longest day of our tour. Lots of it will be downhill however, as today we aim for the sandy beaches of the Costa Rei. We descend towards the Flumendosa River taking us to the town of Ballao. On arriving at Costa Rei we will take our time for a refreshing swim and some relaxing sun bathing before cycling on to our accommodation near Castiadas.DAY 7. Castiadas to Cagliari. We will first ride from Castiadas to Sardinia’s south-easternmost tip at Villasimius. After a short coffee break we continue along the coastal road in direction of Cagliari, passing several little inlets and tiny sandy beaches along the way. We will arrive early at the hotel next to a beautiful beach at around 25 km. We have plenty of time to enjoy the swimming pool or take our bikes apart for tomorrows travels.DAY 8. Departure from Cagliari. Breakfast and transfer to the airport.

Who are you?Active Sardinia is a young and dynamic company born out of the passion and the dream of some friends who believe that MTB and sport activities practice can really change lives. Riding has evolved soon into the desire to share with as many people as possible the amazing spectacle of Sardinian nature. That’s what Active Sardinia is founded on, combined with the wish to establish positive relationships between different cultures and to be an active player in the economic growth of our region. Responsible tourism is one of our driving principles. We care deeply about travelling in a way that positively impacts people and places we visit.

Who are your guides? Our english speaking guides live, work and have fun where the tours take place. What is a typical day like? You will typically start your day with a group breakfast at about 7:30 or 8:00 am, have a morning stretch session if feasible, then either hop on the bikes or in the support van to get to the trailhead. After a 2-to-3-hours ride, you will have a relaxing lunch, with a bit of time to digest before heading out on the trails again. In the afternoon you will log another 2 to 3 hours on the bike or have fun with other sports activities, then hit the lodge for a shower, dinner and a well earned beer at the end of a great day of riding. You try to incorporate as much local culture and exploring as we can while riding, so there will often be stops to check out local points of interest, visit historical places and local food/artisan workshops, having fun with other outdoor activities.
