WHEN TO VISIT THE HEALTH CENTER If it's not urgent, it's usually best to go to your primary care doctor at the Health Center for medical care. Your doctor knows you, your health history, can access your medical records and provide follow-up care or refer you to specialists either onsite at the Health Center or outside with a written referral. If the doctor you normally go to at the Health Center is unavailable, you may request a same-day appointment with another available doctor.

Common reasons for going to the Health Center include: Routine care and checkups Sprains or strains Injury to minor bones (i.e. finger) Small cuts or minor infections Sore throats or rashes

WHEN TO GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM Consider seeking medical assistance at an Emergency Room for sudden and serious events, like: Chest pain

Major burns

Spinal injuries

Heavy bleeding Severe head injury

Difficulty breathing Injury to major bones

Large open wounds

Sudden change in vision

Sudden weakness or trouble talking

Before you go to the ER:
