NEW STUDENTSStudents who have never enrolled in Sul Ross State University are expected to complete all admissions requirements prior to registering for courses.1. A completed application should be on

file in the Office of Admissions and Records. See www.applytexas.org.

2. Official transcripts from each college or university attended must be sent to the Office of Admissions and Records. Any questions concerning special admissions problems should be directed to the Office of Admissions at (830) 758-5009.

3. Contact a faculty adviser in the intended field of study. Advisers are available in person, by phone or email. See page 4 for a list of Faculty Advisers.

4. Register online via Web Registration. Students must be accepted and assigned an ID number and password before registering.

WEBSITE REGISTRATIONIn order to better manage student records, all SRSU-Rio Grande College registration is conducted online via the Banner system. Before attempting registration, please consult with a faculty adviser about the courses you wish to take, consult the schedule of courses available, and consult your degree plan. If you do not have a degree plan, contact your faculty adviser so one can be prepared for you. A $25 late fee is charged for registration that is delayed until the first day of classes.

1. On any computer connected to the Internet, go to Rio Grande College at www.sulross.edu and click on Apply. Select Registration and click on Banner Login.

2. Choose Enter Secure Area. Enter your User ID and PIN and click Login. If you've forgotten your User ID and PIN, please contact IT Support (1-800-691-5071 from off-campus). Do not log in with a Social Security number.

3. You may be asked to change your Login PIN. Enter the old PIN, and then type your new PIN twice for verification. Click Login.

4. Reply to login verification Security Question and save your answer.

5. Enter the registration site, click Student and Financial Aid, and select Registration.

6. Select Register, Add or Drop Classes and make selection from drop-down window. NOTE: You will need to have visited with your adviser prior to this point.

Selecting CoursesSearch the web by subject, course number, title, schedule type, campus, instructor, time/day, or part of term. You must select at least one subject. Press the shift and down arrow to highlight and select courses. Use the same procedure to search other subjects, such as course schedule. A box appears to the right of all classes that are available for registration. Please check the box to select the course. Press Register to add your name in the class. To make changes, use the Reset button. A letter "C" in the box denotes the class is closed. If you know the course number for the courses in which you wish to enroll (look to the right of the schedule entry for the course), you may enter CRN in the boxes on the first page. When you finish course selections, all of your classes should appear on the screen. Print this page for reference—you will receive no other confirmation of your schedule.

ARE WEB COURSES FOR YOU?Web courses (courses offered online) are not self-paced and require considerable work in order to meet requirements. Students should be prepared to devote approximately 12 hours per week to accomplish the work required for a 3-hour class (i.e. the student should devote approximately the same study time for an online course as would be spent in a regular class with outside work requirements—a measure generally calculated at 3 hours outside work for each hour in class. Students MUST have a high-speed internet connection available on a regular basis for course work and other assignments whenever University computer laboratories are not open. Computer labs are open Mon.-Thurs., 8 a.m.-10 p.m., and Fri. 8 a.m.-5 p.m. University computer labs are not open on weekends, but some computer work may be done from the SWTJC and RGC libraries. A student who fails to participate in assignments during any one work period may be subject to being withdrawn from class and given a grade of F. To access a web course, a student must first log in to the Blackboard server at www.sulross.edu. After registration, students should regularly log in to the server and check to see if information on their class has been posted by the professor. The login is the student's official Sul Ross email address and password. If you have not obtained an email address, call the University Help Desk at 888-691-5071. Tutorials for instruction on use of the Blackboard server

are available on the Technology Help Page at www.sulross.edu/page/901/academic-and-instructional-resources#bb.
