2014 Arctic Climate Change Youth Forum – Canterbury High School, Ottawa OT Theme: Arctic Change Hosted by: Students of Canterbury High School and Schools on Board Date: December 8, 2014 at the Canadian Museum of Nature, Ottawa Every two years, Schools on Board co-hosts a youth forum that coincides with an international science meeting or conference. This one-day event includes interactive presentations and workshops delivered by scientists and researchers introducing secondary high school students and their teachers to Arctic climate change research. In addition to science, the day will also include the northern perspective on climate change as well as discussions on the role of Inuit knowledge in policy and decision-making. This year, Schools on Board has partnered with Canterbury High School, the Canadian Museum of Nature and Students on Ice for the 2014 Arctic Climate Change Forum. This event was held in conjunction with the Arctic Change 2014 (http://www.arcticnetmeetings.ca/ac2014/) meeting hosted by ArcticNet, which welcomed over 1000 researchers, students, Northerners, policy makers, and stakeholders from all fields of Arctic research together. SPARC Students Promoting Arctic Research at Canterbury was a club that formed to help organize the Arctic Climate Change Youth Forum (ACCYF) in Ottawa in December 2014 and continued to meet on a bi-weekly bases to continue initiatives concerning climate change and food security in the North – issues they learned about at the ACCYF.
