Enjoys drawing in his spare time. Best moment of his athletic career to date was winning

the NCAA Championship. Chose to attend UofL because “it was the best place

for me.” Best basketball advice given to him was to stay positive. Most proud of “everything I overcame.” Personal goal at UofL is to repeat as champions. His stepfather Kevin Thomas has had the greatest

influence on his athletic career. Among reality shows, he feels he would fare best on

Real Husbands of Hollywood. When he played basketball as a kid, he pretended he

was Tracy McGrady.

Also participated in football and track in high school. Shattered a backboard in practice during his senior year

in high school. Originally signed a national letter-of-intent with Virginia

Tech. He was released from that and then chose to attend UofL after receiving offers from Florida, Alabama, Kentucky, Cincinnati and South Carolina.

Personal: Born Jan. 26, 1994 ... Son of Samuel and Selena Harrell

... Has two younger brothers (Cadarius and Quatauis) ... Major is sports medicine.

Personal goal at UofL is to “get a good education and be the best basketball player I can be.”

Enjoys fishing and spending time with friends and family in his spare time.

Chose to attend UofL because “it’s a great school, a great program, the basketball program is amazing and it feels like home here.”

Best basketball advice given to him was to never give up. His dad and his grandmother have had the greatest

influence on his athletic career. Wanted to wear No. 24 because “I love the number and

have worn it since I was 13.” Best moment of his athletic career to date was when he had

51 points, 18 dunks, 17 rebounds and six blocks in a game. If you walked into his dorm room, the first thing you

would notice is his shoes. Most proud of “the person I have become.”

Best thing about being a Cardinal is the fan base. What impresses him the most about Coach Pitino:

everything -- he knows what he is talking about on and off the court.

Would most like to meet Jeff Green.

High School: Sat out the 2012-13 season, but was able to practice

with the Cardinals while attending UofL. Averaged 12 points, 10 rebounds and four blocked

shots his final prep year for IMG’s postgraduate team, which posted a 28-2 record in 2011-12. Eleven of his IMG teammates signed with NCAA Division I schools.

Brehm Prep School in 2010-11. While at Brehm Prep, he blocked an event-high seven shots against Princeton Day Academy in the 2011 National Prep School Invitational.

A late addition to the Cardinal roster in 2012, joining the team in August 2012 after arriving on campus the day before classes started.

UofL Coach Rick Pitino says Mathiang is extremely quick and agile for his size and has a great future because of the way he moves at both ends of the court.

Chose to attend UofL after also receiving offers from Kansas State, Georgia, Mississippi State, Auburn and Central Michigan.

Also played rugby, soccer and Australian rules football in high school while in Australia.

Personal: Born Oct. 8, 1992 ... Son of Alfret and Grace Mathiang

love basketball, work hard and you will make it.” Feels Michael Blackson would be the best actor to play

him in a movie. Few people know that he does not like scary movies. Most proud of “my mother for bringing me this far in

life.” His older sister Aledy has had the greatest influence on

his athletic career. Best thing about being a Cardinal is his teammates. When he played basketball as a kid, he pretended he

was Dwight Howard. Wanted to wear No.12 because it is his favorite player

Dwight Howard’s number. Would most like to meet his grandmother. Chose to attend UofL because of the fans.

Best moment of his athletic career to date was finding out he could attend school at UofL.

What impresses him the most about Coach Pitino: “he is an outgoing person off the court, and the new tattoo he got (depicting UofL’s NCAA championship).”

The University of Louisville’s athletic symbol, chosen sometime after 1913, is a Cardinal.

The Cardinal bird was chosen to give UofL statewide identification, since the Cardinal is the state bird of Kentucky. The school colors — cardinal red and black — were adopted at the suggestion of Mrs. John L. Patterson. In printing terms, the UofL color for red is PMS 485. All of the University of Louisville’s present logos are trade marked.

Averaged 21.9 points, 5.9 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 1.7 steals in leading top-ranked Ballard High School to a 29-6 record before falling to No. 2 Trinity in the Seventh Region title game.

Honored as Kentucky’s Mr. Basketball, Snider was a first team all-state selection and was ranked 33rd nationally by Rivals.com, No. 38 by 247Sports.com, No. 40 in the ESPN 100 and was rated the seventh-best point guard in the nation by Scout.com.

Career leader in scoring and assists (633) at Ballard. His 2,442 points passed Allan Houston and DeJuan Wheat. His 371 three-pointers (including 34 as an eighth-grader at Fern Creek) rank third in state history.

Top scoring effort as a senior was 32 points on three occasions and he handed out a season-best 11 assists against Newport Catholic. He scored 20 or more points in 22 games as a senior.

Averaged 19.3 points, 4.5 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals as a junior in helping Ballard to a 32-5 record and the Kentucky state championship game, where the Bruins fell 65-64 to Madison Central. He was a first-team all-state selection and the Seventh Region player of the year as a junior.

UofL greats DeJuan Wheat (1993-97), the Cardinals’ No. 2 all-time scorer, and Jerry Eaves (1978-82), the starting point guard on UofL’s 1980 NCAA Champion-ship team, were also graduates of Ballard High School.

Chose to attend Louisville after also considering Illinois, UCLA, Michigan State and Connecticut.

Honored as MVP of the 2014 Kentucky Derby Festival Basketball Classic all-star game after totaling eight points, four rebounds and a game-high nine assists for the winning White team.

His combined 64 points in the two games of the Kentucky-Indiana All-Star Games are tied for the third most in the history of the event that dates back to 1940, passed only by George McGinnis (1969) and Oscar Robertson (1956). He had 37 points -- the sixth most ever in the event -- six three-pointers and seven rebounds in the game played in Kentucky; 27 points and five rebounds in the game played in Indiana.

Personal: Born Feb. 14, 1995 ... Son of Scott and Latonda Snider

... Has one younger brother (Cameron) ... Major is undecided.

Personal goal at UofL is to win the national championship. Best moment of his athletic career to date was

going to the high school state championship as a junior and being named Mr. Basketball in Kentucky.

Enjoys hanging with his friends in his spare time. Chose to attend UofL because “I always dreamed to

play for Louisville since I was seven, I’m from Louisville and I want to play for my city.”

Best basketball advice given to him was “always believe in yourself and have confidence.”

Most proud of earning a college scholarship. Feels Mark Wahlberg would be the best actor to play

him in a movie. When he played basketball as a kid, he pretended he

was Allen Iverson. Few people know that he is very quiet. Chose to wear number 2 because it was worn at UofL

by former Cardinal Ellis Myles, who was Snider’s AAU coach.

If you walked into his dorm room, the first thing you would notice is pictures of his family.

Among reality shows, he feels he would fare best on Love & Hip Hop in Atlanta.

Best thing about being a Cardinal is “playing in front of my city.”

What impresses him the most about Coach Pitino: he pushes you to be great and is a great motivational speaker.

Would most like to meet God.

Best thing about being a Cardinal is “I get to play for Coach Pitino.”

When he played basketball as a kid, he pretended he was Michael Jordan.

Wanted to wear No.5 because it is his dad’s lucky number. Would most like to meet Michael Jordan. Best moment of his athletic career to date was “the day

I signed with Louisville.” What impresses him the most about Coach Pitino: “the

way he teaches basketball and what he’s been able to accomplish in his career.”
