AGED 4040 Course Syllabus Spring 2013Course Description

This course is designed to provide early experience for students preparing to teach horticulture. Students will gain skills in greenhouse management, gardening, floral skills, and other skills needed to be successful in teaching horticulture.

Appointments

I have an open-door policy and welcome you in my office anytime. However, it is best to make an appointment for important matters due to the fact that I could be out of the office teaching other classes or visiting teachers around the state. I prefer a phone call or in-person conversation as opposed to an e-mail.

Course Objective

Student teachers will develop technical skills and increase knowledge of floriculture industry. Industry standards, certification, record keeping, student advisement, and supervision of experience projects will be discussed.

Course Policies

Attendance

Attendance is expected and is a part of your grade. Attendance will be taken at the beginning of each class and students will be expected to be in class on time. Participation

Students are expected to participate in classroom discussions, and in the sharing of ideas and points of view. This will not only enhance what you get out of the course, but will also enhance the course for your fellow students. Make every attempt to be in class on time and actively participate.

Academic Misconduct

Cheating or plagiarism will be reported using official University Procedures. If you have any questions regarding plagiarism, please consult the latest issue of The University of Georgia, Student Rules, under the sections Scholastic Dishonesty. With this class in particular students should be aware that calls to schools to check up on student hours are very common.

Grading
