About Robert Libbey, RMT

Robert Libbey has been a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) member in good standing with the CMTBC and the MTABC since 1994. From 2001 – 2008 he was on faculty at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy (WCCMT), instructing in their Orthopedic and Neurological Examination departments. He was also a Senior Clinical Supervisor examining students preparing for their Provincial Regulatory Board Examinations. Robert upgraded his education to the 3000hr standard for Registration set by the CMTBC.

While in high school, Robert suffering 2 dramatic injuries: a nearly debilitating spinal chord injury and 1 year later a shattered pelvis and forearm. After struggling through grueling rehab, 1 year later, he found myself once again learning how to function after falling 1.5 stories shattering his left pelvis and forearm. Healing from these traumatic injuries provided him with the empathy for others in pain and shaped his career path.

It took Robert nearly a decade of research, practice, sweat and ingenuity to conceive of a treatment system that provided fast and effective results. It took another ½ decade to put it on paper and to begin instructing other manual therapists.

Robert is in his 19th year of service as an RMT. He sees everyday as an opportunity that has been afforded to him to help make a difference and make a change in someone’s life. He has been focused in the MTABC Massage Matters and the CMTBC Touchstone Magazines. He has also published a white paper in the Journal of Prolotherapy.

About Ligament Articular Strain Technique:

L.A.S.T. achieves proven and fast results, utilizing techniques based on current scientific research. Ruptured or injured ligaments are a major source of mechanical problems. When an injury occurs, the joint becomes displaced beyond this physiologic position, and some, if not all, of the surrounding tissues become dysfunctional. L.A.S.T. changes the surrounding tissue environment to help the injured tissues recuperate quicker and function more efficiently.

L.A.S.T incorporates aspects of Myofascial Release techniques, Positional Release techniques, Biodynamic Craniosacral techniques, Visceral Manipulation and Periosteal Release techniques.

For more information, please visit his website at www.lastsite.ca

Testimonials from RMT's & their Patients:

“I am stunned at the amazing results I’ve been getting with L.A.S.T.!”

“My clients wanted me to let you know that they really appreciate all the work you have put into developing this technique because it has helped many of them more then any other technique I have learned. I hope you know how much all your hard work and dedication has meant to so many broken people.”

“L.A.S.T. is an invaluable set of techniques that have improved outcomes for my Patients!!!”

About Thai Sport Therapy

This course serves to broaden the therapist’s knowledge of alternative therapy that can be implemented when treating athletes. Presently, in Thailand, this type of therapy is called Warrior Massage because of its use hundreds of years ago to aid in the recovery of their warriors so they could go back into battle.

Thai Sport Therapy boasts the same benefits as traditional Thai massage, but is done on a table instead of a mat, and uses the same form of techniques. The advantages to the therapist are not having to purchase, store or travel around with the large mat that would be necessary for traditional Thai treatments. This therapy has many benefits to the athlete such as relaxing muscles, improving circulation, increasing range of motion, and stimulating nerves. The athlete will leave the treatment feeling relaxed, invigorated and energized.

Sport Thai Therapy allows the therapist to use their body in a uniquely creative and therapeutic way. The therapist can use various parts of their body during the treatment, such as elbows, knees, feet, sometimes even in combination.

Thai Sport Therapy is designed to enhance athletic performance in all aspects of training and competition, off season training and rehabilitation massage.

About Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) Technique

Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) allows the body to repair itself and to prepare for daily activity.

This method of stretching works with the body’s physiological makeup to improve circulation and increase the elasticity of joint muscles and connective tissues. Founded on controlling the body’s stretch reflexes, AIS is a system of safely elongating myofascial tissues, helping eliminate pain and improving human performance.

AIS is an outstanding technique for improving posture, eliminating spinal curvatures such as scoliosis and kyphosis which can restore proper body alignment, and help to eliminate physical pain. AIS can affect positive change in such (not-so-common) conditions as carpal tunnel syndrome, toricolis or rotator cuff conditions as well as sciatica and bunions.
