District and Community Community Unit School District 200 (CUSD 200) is a public, K-12 District located approximately 30 miles west of Chicago. The District is located in DuPage County and primarily serves the communies of Wheaton and Warrenville, as well as porons of Carol Stream, Winfield, West Chicago, and adjacent unincorporated areas. CUSD 200 is mostly a middle and upper middle class residenal suburban area where residents are largely profes- sional, semiprofessional, managerial, and skilled workers. CUSD 200 has thirteen K-5 elementary schools, four middle schools (grade 6 to 8), two comprehensive high schools, and a pre-school center. CUSD 200 serves more than 13,400 students and employs approximately 1,000 cerfied employees and 800 support staff. Wheaton North High School Wheaton North High School was founded in 1964 and is one of two high schools in CUSD 200. Wheaton North offers a four-year (9-12) comprehensive secondary educaon to approximately 2,200 students. The school year is divided into two semesters with three, six-week grading periods per semester. Wheaton North emphasizes academic excellence, values co-curricular involvement, and receives tremendous support from its parents and community. Wheaton North is fully accredited by the Illinois State Board of Educaon and is a member of both NACAC and IACAC. Wheaton North consistently ranks as one of the top fiſty public high schools in Illinois by the Chicago Sun-Times. Naonally, Wheaton North is ranked as one of the top high schools in the country by Newsweek, and is a Silver Medal winner from U.S. News and World Report. Wheaton North is a designated Illinois Democracy High School by the Robert R. McCormick Foundaon. One of only eleven in the State of Illinois, a Democracy High School provides students with authenc experiences in the rights, responsibilies, and tensions inherent to living in a constuonal democracy. Finally, based on students’ Advanced Placement (AP) involvement at Wheaton North and Wheaton Warrenville South, CUSD 200 has been designated an AP Achievement District. This designaon is shared with only 12 districts in Illinois and 367 naon- wide. Faculty and Staff There are approximately 165 cerfied staff and 45 classified (support) staff at Wheaton North. Ninety-five percent (95%) of the cerfied staff hold a Master’s degree or higher. The District student-to-teacher rao as reported on the 2012 (2013 Report Card not yet available) Illinois State Report Card is 20.1, and the school’s average class size is 26 students. The average pupil expenditure in 2010-2011 was approximately $11,529. Class RankWheaton North provides only a weighted class rank, which is computed at the end of each semester and is based on a student’s cumulative 5.0 weighted GPA. Beginning with the class of 2015, Wheaton North High School will no longer compute nor provide class rank.

Technology Center of DuPage (TCD)Technology Center of DuPage is a Career Technical Education (CTE) campus for 24 high schools in DuPage County, IL. TCD offers a roster of intermedi-ate-level elective career programs for juniors and seniors. Students enroll in one program at TCD and spend that year in hands-on occupational skill development, workplace skill development, and academic application. TCD courses are granted one and one-half (1.50) credits per semester. Wheaton North enrolls approximately 75 students a year at TCD. For more information go to www.tcdupage.org.

Student Opportunities• Wheaton North offers a comprehensive interscholastic athletic

program consisting of 26 sports for both girls and boys with multiple levels of competition. The Wheaton North Falcons are members of the DuPage Valley Conference (DVC), which has a rich tradition of success at the regional, sectional, and state levels.

• Along with athletic programs, Wheaton North has strong and active participation in Math, Scholastic Bowl, and Speech teams. Overall, Wheaton North has earned ten state team championships and many more individual state champion honors.

• Wheaton North offers approximately 50 clubs and organizations for students to participate in each year. The most popular clubs/organizations include Student Council, Key Club, Yearbook, and Pep Club. More than 1300 students actively participate each year in clubs.

• Wheaton North’s Music program includes Concert and Symphonic Band; Wind Ensemble; Percussion Studies; Concert and Chamber Orchestra; and Concert, Chamber, and Treble Choir. In addition to the wide curricular offerings in the performing arts, numerous extracurricular activities are available to interested students. These include March-ing Band, Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Band, and Pep Band. Also, each year hundreds of students participate both on and off stage in Wheaton North’s dramatic productions including the Fall Play, Spring Musical, and One-Act Plays.
