2012 Team Policies
A football team is not a democracy. There will be times in your life when you will not be able to “do it your
way”, or “do your own thing”. Being part of the Sequoyah Football Team is one of those times. Imagine a
football team trying to run a play with eleven players doing whatever they want!
The following are the General Policies of the Sequoyah Chiefs Football Program. We hold our student-athletes
to the highest standards, and expect greatness both on the field and in the classroom.
Students participating in football at Sequoyah High School should excel in the following:
General Conduct: Do not engage in any behavior that would reflect poorly on you, your teammates, coaches or school.
Promptness: Be on time. You must be committed to succeed in any endeavor. Show your commitment by being prompt in
every scenario.
Dependability: “Dependability over ability” is a trademark of our football program here at Sequoyah High School. All football
players must be dependable. If you are going to miss any team function (practice, workout, etc…) speak to
Coach Teter.
Character: Character here at Sequoyah High School is broken down into our three core values: TRUST, CARE and
COMMITMENT.
TRUST:
This team will not tolerate a player doing any type of cheating or stealing.
CARE:
You should care about your teammates and your team. This team will not tolerate a player
being disrespectful to another player, coach, teacher, administrator or anyone else associated
with the program.
COMMITMENT:
This team will not tolerate a player showing a lack of commitment to the team. We work too
hard throughout the year to have a player who is not committed.
When in Doubt – DO WHATS RIGHT!

The Character Education Program is an extension of the football program that helps
players become better people. We want to teach values such as attitude, teamwork,
dedication, and dependability that players can carry with them well after their time
as football players.
The Purpose of the Tribal Leadership Council
1. You will support the SHS Coaching Staff in all areas of the SHS Football Program.
2. You will use your influence to INVEST in the lives of your teammates. The more you
invest, the greater the “rate of return.”
3. You will learn how leadership plays an important role as a husband, father, and
responsible citizen in your community. These characteristics will help mold you into a
leader, long after you leave this particular tribe.
4. You will learn ways to lead an organization through times of winning AND losing.
5. You will learn how important it is for members of an organization to be able to see
visible examples of excellence and stability. Those visible examples of excellence and
stability are the leaders in that organization.
6. You will learn the power of SERVING those who operate under your leadership.
7. You will learn the importance of humility and honor.
8. You will learn that an organization takes on the personality of its leaders.
