: By the end of this course, students will be able to:
1. use basic phonetic and phonological concepts toanalyse English speech patterns (C4);
2. display a high level of competence in reading phonetictranscriptions and transcribing English words with the
International Phonetic Alphabet (P3);3. work in groups to analyse and explain English speech
patterns (A4)
SINOPSIS : This course covers the phenomenon of speech sound thephone and phoneme; the English vowel and consonant system;the phonetic and phonemic notation, and transcription; the syllableand connected speech, and also phonotactics and prosody.
