How does one declare his/her Income Tax proofs?

Go to > You & IBM > About you > Compensation> Benefits>Income tax Proof.

Please note that the Income tax Declaration link is different from the Income tax Proof link. Here you will not be able to edit declarations made by you at the beginning of the financial year. Now you just need to type in your amounts for the proofs available in proof column.

2. I have submitted proofs but I have not taken a print?

Go to > You & IBM > About You > Your work > Worklist

Note: Click on your work item for Income tax proof submission > Scroll down on Main Information page > Press the print button to generate the PDF file > Save this and take a print.

3. I have received a rejection mail? How do I resubmit?

After the you receive a rejection mail, go to the > You & IBM > About You > Your work > Worklist>open the IT-proof claim>click on submit button to resubmit.

Note: Once you click on the submit button system will guide you the path to take the print of the resubmitted claim then enclose the resubmission proofs along with IT-proof print out and drop in the nearest drop box.

4. How can I submit the IT-PROOF claim in the portal?

5. How to fill the HRA Tab?

Give one line item only if you are on rent or your house is not changed for the financial year > Give the start date not earlier than 1 Apr 2011 (If you are with IBM from 1 April-11 or If you are date of joining is post 1 April-11 then mention the start date as date of Joining)when you are claiming HRA and end date if you want to claim till 31 Mar 2012 > Give only one month's rent amount.

6. I have two rental details in the financial year so how can I declare in HRA tab of IT-proof link?

Create one line item with the start date and end date as per proofs and mention the rental amount per month. Then for the next rental detail create one more line item with the next rent details of start date and end date and thereby mention the rental amount per month in respective column.

7. My rental agreement is in the name of both my spouse and myself. How will the exemption be provided if I am submitting both rental agreement and rental receipts to IT-team?

If you are providing rental agreement (With your and spouse name mentioned) along with rent receipts then HRA exemption will be prorated and considered for exemption accordingly.

8. Since my name and wife name are there in rental agreement what should I do in order to claim for 100% HRA exemption as my spouse in no longer claiming HRA?

Along with rental agreement and rent receipt a declaration(duly signed by her) needs to given in this effect from your wife saying that she is not claiming for HRA exemption and hence the 100% exemption is being claimed by husband.

9. In my rental agreement both my elder and younger brothers name is mentioned how much exemption I will get for HRA if I produce rental receipts and rental agreement for HRA?

If your younger and elder brother name is mentioned (In agreement and rent receipt as well)then HRA exemption will be prorated(pro rata basis) accordingly and appropriate exemption will be given.

10. Since my elder brothers and younger brothers name is present (as a part of agreement and rent receipts as well) in rental agreement what should I do in order to claim 100% HRA exemption?

Since your younger and elder brothers name is present(as a part of agreement and in rent receipt as well)your HRA exemption will be prorated and appropriate exemption will be given.You cannot claim for 100% tax exemption on HRA.

11.I am staying in a paying guest hence I don’t have rental agreement but I have only rent receipts then how can I claim for HRA exemption?

As per IBM policy rental agreement is mandatory along with rent receipts to verify and consider for HRA exemption. Therefore along with rent receipts rental agreement is mandatory for HRA proofs verification and consideration.

12.I have made some donations towards PM relief fund and those are eligible for exemption as per IT act. Where and what proofs should I declare and provide in order to get the exemption?

As per IBM policy and circular from Income Tax Department No. 05/2011 dated 16.08.2011 Page No. 34, we are not considering any donation proofs made by the employees towards any social organizations. Hence employees have to produce the proofs while filing their IT returns and claim for appropriate exemption. 13. I have made some investments towards long term and short term capital gains. Where and how should I declare and claim for exemption for the same?

As per IBM policy investments made towards long term and short term investments will not be considered in IBM. Hence employees have to produce the proofs while filing the IT-returns and claim for exemption accordingly.

14. What are the Documents for claiming exemption under housing loan?

15. I have paid Pre-EMI interest for my loan then where and how should i declare and claim for exemption?

Pre-EMI interest can be claimed for exemption only once you acquire the property. This amount can be claimed over five successive years by dividing that amount into five equal amounts. That is one fifth of that PRE-EMI amount can be claimed in one financial year. This amount should be added along with the regular interest amount and declare in the interest section of respective house type details.

16. Mine is a self-occupied property but I have paid Pre-EMI interest for the property. But 1.5 lakh is the maximum interest exemption for self-occupied property. Is this 1.5 lakh inclusive of Pre-EMI or Exclusive of Pre-EMI?

You can declare one fifth of Pre-EMI amount along with the regular interest amount and declare in the interest section of self-occupied property. But overall interest amount exemption for self-occupied property is 1.5 lakh inclusive of Pre-EMI and regular interest amount.

17.Mine is a let-out property do I need to calculate and update the standard 30% deduction for repairs in the respective tabs or it will be considered automatically based on annual lettable value?

Please calculate 30% of standard lettable value and update in the respective tab for standard 30% deduction.System will not consider automatically.

18.What is the maximum allowable exemption amount under 80C,80CCC and 80CCD?

The maximum exemption under 80C,80CCC and 80CCD is 1 lakh.

19.Where should I declare for investment made for long term infrastructure bond?Is the exemption for Infra bonds is over and above 1Lakh or within one lakh?

You need to declare the Infrastructure investment proof amounts in section 80 deductions tab of IT-proof link. The exemption is over and above one lakh.

20. What are the Documents once can submit for PPF?

Submit the Receipt copy or attested copy of Passbook from Post Office or Bank

21. Do I need to fill my Provident fund & VPF deducted by Payroll through my salary? Is this exempted from income Tax under section 80 C of IT ACT?

You need not to declare the provident fund & VPF deducted by Payroll through your salary. This

would be considered while processing your salary automatically.

Yes this is exempted from income Tax under section 80 C of IT ACT.

22. I have taken a mediclaim thrugh IBM for my parents. Do I have to declare it on the tool? Is this exempted from income Tax under section 80 D of IT ACT?

You need not fill the details of mediclaim taken through IBM for your parents/dependents for the premium deducted by Payroll through your salary. This would be considered while processing your salary automatically.

Yes this is exempted from income Tax under section 80 D of IT ACT.

23.I have some investment and premiums to be paid in Jan-12, Feb-12 & Mar-12.In such a case how should I produce the proofs and claim for tax exemption for such investments?

As per IBM policy the investments made and proofs produced till Dec-11 will be verified and considered for tax computation. The investments made post Dec-11 will not be considered for Tax exemption in IBM and employees have to produce those proofs while filing the IT-returns and claim for exemption with IT-department. However you can make advance payments towards your investments for the months of Jan-12, Feb-12 & Mar-12 by December-11 and claim the exemption on the same.

24. I have paid some amount towards registration fees and stamp duty of my house property. Where should I declare that amounts in IT-proof link?

You can declare that amount in Repayment of housing loan (Principal)line item which is present in 80C tab of IT-proof link.

25.I have joined IBM recently and I want to update my previous employment details in IT-proof link IBM I want to know what all the parameters I need to update in previous employment tab of IT-proof link?

You need to update four parameters w.r.t your previous employment details those are Income after section 10 exemptions (In the provisions u/s 17(1) line item), Provident fund(In provident fund section),Professional tax(Under Professional tax section) and Income tax(Under Income tax section).

26. What is the maximum interest exemption limit for a let out property?

There is no exemption limit for interest paid on a let-out property.

27. I have submitted by investment proofs for LIC, Mutual fund, Housing loan in my previous company. Do I need to submit the same again in IBM?

Yes you need to submit the proofs for the investments made under Chapter VI A again in IBM. Only provident fund deducted in your previous company will be considered provided you have declared the same in the previous income declaration tab

28. I have submitted my proofs in the month of December-11, but the same has not been considered in the payslip of December-11

Please note that the actual investment declaration made by you in the Income tax proof declaration

link and the proofs submitted by you will be considered from the month of January-12.

Untill December -11 income tax computation will be based on the investment declaration made by you in the Income tax declaration link in the You and IBM online portal

29. I have claimed Rs 8000 exemption towards medical bill reimbursement in my previous company. How much more exemption can I claim for the same in IBM. Also what is the maximum amount of exemption I can claim for medical bill reimbursement?

Please note that the maximum limit for medical bill reimbursement is Rs 15000 in a particular financial year. If you have already claimed exemption for Rs 8000 towards medical bill reimbursement in your previous company, then you can claim for the balance of Rs 7000 exemption in IBM through FBP claims.

30. Is the location for submitting the investment proofs documents the same for Resigned employees the same as Active employees?

Resigned employees will have to send the investment proofs directly to the payroll team addressed to :

31. How do I claim HRA exemption if the rent receipt and rental agreement is in my Father/mother name but I make the payments?

You cannot claim for the HRA exemption if the rent receipts and rental agreement is in your Father/Mother name.Both the rental agreement and Rent receipts should be in your name in order to claim for HRA exemption.

32. Can I claim HRA exemption if my Landlord is my Father/mother?

Yes you can claim provided the rental agreement and rent receipt should be in your(Person who is claiming for exemption) name.

34. Can I claim both HRA and Housing loan exemption?

Yes you can claim both HRA and Housing loan exemption in the following cases.1)If your property is self occupied and incurring rental expenses to claim HRA exemption then you can claim for exemption on both HRA and Home loan by providing a additional declaration called Home loan and HRA declaration.Provided both rented property and home property should be different municipal or corporation limits. 2) If the property is wholly let out or partly let out property then you can claim for HRA and home loan exemption with necessary proofs.

Example of HRA start and end date declaration?

Start date 1/04/2011(or the actual date of joining)and end date would be 31/3/2012.

35. What is final lettable value, Ded-interest u/s 24, Ded-Repairs u/s 24 & Ded-others u/s 24 and what to declare under these options?

Find below the details..Final lettable value:Total rental amount receivable from the property in a particular financial year.Ded-interest u/s 24:The total interest amount paid against the housing property as mentioned in bank certificate for a particular financial year.Note:If any Pre-EMI amount is being claimed(1/5 of Pre-EMI in a particular financial year)by the employee then that should also be declared along with regular interest amount in the field Ded-interest u/s 24.Ded-Repairs u/s 24:It is the 30% of the final lettable value reduced by Ded-Others u/s 24 amount if any. Employee should calculate manually and key in in the field.Ded-others u/s 24:It is the total property/Muncipal tax amount (as per the tax paid receipt)paid against the property in a particular financial year.

36. I want to re-submit the submitted form as i have done mistake in declarations and am yet to submit the documents? How can I do it?

If you have made the mistake and not yet submitted the hard copy of proofs along with claim summary sheet then you can raise a new claim with the correct investment declarations and take a print out of that new particular claim and submit the IT-proof summary of that claim along with IT-Proof.But please note that the Income tax proof link should be in open at that time period.

37. I want to re-submit the submitted form as i have done mistake in declarations and I have also submitted the documents? How can I do it?

Once the verification of proofs completes from IT-proof approver end then you will receive a mail indicating the status of approval status.Then based on the mail if there are any rejection line item then navigate to your universal worklist(In online HRMS portal)and open that particular claim and click on submit (in main information tab)to resubmit.Then take print out of the claim and submit along with missed proofs at the nearby location.Please note to mention as resubmission document at the top of the document for resubmission proofs.

38. How will I come to know that my IT proof submission is rejected, Is any rejection mail that i would receive and from which ID?

You will receive a mail from WF-Batch once the IT-proof verification completes from IT-approver end.Based on the verification status you can action accordingly for any rejection line items if any.

39. How will I come to know that my IT proof Submission is accepted?

Please note there are two ways that an employee will be intimated with regards to IT-proofs.Firstly once the proofs are received acknowledgment mail will be sent to to employees confirming that the proofs are received from IT-proof team.Secondly once the IT-Proof verification completes from IT-proof approver a mail will be sent to the employee(From WF-Batch)indicating the verification status of IT-proofs.

In case if you have not received acknowledgement mail or verification status mail then please contact IT-proof team through call or mail and get the appropriate solution. 40. I want to make changes to the declaration to my rejected IT proof form, let me know the procedure?

After receiving the IT-proof approval mail from the IT-proof approver you need to action on rejection components(If any).Please navigate to your worklist and open that claim and click on submit button(main tab)to resubmit the claim.You cannot edit the amounts.Take a print of the claim and enclose missed proofs (Write as Resubmission docs)and send it to IT-proof verification team.You have to action on the rejection line items immediately after receiving the IT-proof approval mail.If not action immediately then that workitem expires and moves out of the worklist and you will not have any options to resubmit the claim online.

41. My claim is not in the worklist after I have taken a print, what do I do?

There is no such case because to take the print,IT-proof claim should be there in the worklist.Without the IT-proof claim in the worklist you cannot take the print of the claim.

42. How many submission that I can do?

You can do any number of submissions that you wish to do.But please take the print of that particular IT-Proof claim which has correct investment declaration and submit that along with the IT-proofs.

43. What is the SLA and process flow of IT proof approval?

As such there no SLA for IT-Proof approver as it is based on volumes which will be verified as and when it will be received.

As fas as the IT-proof approval process flow is concerned please find below the flow.

IT-Proof approver>Log in to Online HRMS Portal with approver ID and p/w>Navigates to Universal worklist>Key in the particular claim’s perner>Post that the claim list for that particular employee will be populated>Based on the claim no in the IT-proof document the approver clicks on the particular claim line item and opens the claim>Starts verifying all the tabs based on proofs>Once verification completes clicks on review>Finally clicks on submit button>Post clicking on submit button mail will goes to employee with all the details of IT-Proof verification status.

44. Describe dependents in case of exemption for Life Insurance Premium?Spouse and children.

45. Do I need to submit my Medical bills, LTA claims along with the Income Tax proofs? No you need not submit the medical bills, LTA claims along with the Income Tax Proofs. You need to submit the same along with Kitty Claims.
