    This course provides graduates with the knowledge and expertise to build a solid and comprehensive pathway into a professional massage career.

    Upon successful completion employment options may include: a private practice with provision for health fund rebates, working with other health care professionals in a professional setting - chiropractors, physiotherapists, naturopaths and beauty therapists and working in health retreats, International hotels, day spas, resorts and beauty salons.

    The foundation of this course is the certificate IV in massage therapy. Students will then train to work as competent remedial massage therapists. Students will;

    Communicate effectively with clients and other health care professionals using specific health and medical terminology.

    Learning to assess clients massage needs, plan and conduct a remedial massage with sound knowledge of function, pathology, physiology and anatomy.

    Acquire a wide range of soft tissue massage techniques.

    Work ethically and safely in health care and wellness environments.

    Learn all legal requirements, occupational health and safety requirements and record keeping essential for working in the massage industry.

    Give accurate information and home care advice to enhance patient health and well being.

    Build leadership, marketing and customer service skills required to run a successful massage therapy practice for self employment.

    Provide remedial massage treatments within a corporate setting.

    Provide remedial massage to athletes.

    Specialization units will allow students to adapt and perform treatments to clients of a broader

    range of populations. This course with the Certificate IV pre-requisites includes the following:

    Deep tissue massage Corporate (seated) massage Trigger point massage Sports massage Pregnancy massage Facilitated stretching Lymphatic drainage. Remedial massage Myofascial release Aged care massage Swedish (relaxation) massage Body scrubs and wraps Reflexology Aromatherapy Energy healing massage Hot stone massage

    ACIT Diploma of Remedial Massage Course Flier 16June11

    The duration of this course is up to 51 weeks including holidays, with one full day of practical training and supervised clinic sessions and clinic practice/ theory studies arranged flexibly. This ensures our students gain confidence not only in the assessment and treatment of their clients but also the procedures required to work in a clinic environment.

    The 40 tuition week course consists of 4 x 10 week terms. Students can effectively commence every Monday except during holidays. (Courses and start dates are subject to minimum numbers). Jan-April term

    1 week holiday April-July term

    2 week holiday July-Sep term

    1 week holiday Sep-Nov term

    8 week end of year break

    This qualification is assessed across practical skills, written work, role plays, assignments and massage clinic. Upon successful completion of this qualification students will be eligible for a HLT50307 Diploma of Remedial Massage.     International student entry requirements for this course: It's a requirement for enrolment and for the grant of a student visa that students establish their English language proficiency. How you can do this depends on your passport and Education Sector, which determine your Assessment Level. Some levels can use the ACIT test (80% or above, only available at ACIT) to establish their competence. Other levels need IELTS 5.5 or equal (or higher) or certified proof of successful Foundation, Certificate IV or higher studies.     Documentation produced for evidence of satisfactory English must be a recognised course or assessment.

    International students must be 18 years of age and over.
