Preparation tasks• Worked at the Kendall E. S. Bookfair to

gain insights into how a bookfair is run• Received training on the cash register

machine• Coordinated for parent volunteers• Coordinated with the Follett Book Rep.• Decorate the library to support the theme “Peace, Love, & Books”

Book Fair Goals

• Make a $3,000 profit from the bookfair• Insure all reading classes get at least 30

minutes of dedicated bookfair time• Open the Bookfair 30 minutes before school

each day, and 2 hours after school the day before it closes

• Provide the students a safe, entertaining,& fun experience

Daily duties

• Run the cash register, and track daily purchases

• Insure the “Lonestar Booktalk” video was running continuously

• Answer questions about book selections, price of items, and other concerns

• Direct parent volunteers• Stay positive

Closing the Bookfair

• Process the receipts from the bookfair• Inventory the books and other items• Break down the tables and display areas• Coordinate with the Follett Rep. for pickup• Clean up the library

Lessons Learned

• Coordinate every detail. No detail is too small• Advertise the upcoming bookfair to students

by flyers, posters, and announcements• Invite the Principal so he/she can see an

important part of your program• Volunteers can run the register, but the

librarian should track all receipts• Have Fun
